Similar situation for me but with a sound card. I've been getting intermittent sound loss in multiplayer driving sims, mostly noticeable whilst on the start grid or when amongst other cars. Been using the mobo on board sound chip but now I've splashed the cash and bought a dedicated Creative sound card which will hopefully arrive Saturday.

I have a Creative xfi xtreme music soundcard which was fantastic in my old vista 32 system. Unfortunately it won't run on W7 64 despite Creative insisting otherwise Tried again today to install it and W7 doesn't even recognise it as new hardware installed which means Creative's drivers will not run. Did some research and found it was a common issue and I failed to find a solution. Not happy because once you've used a decent sound card going back to onboard sound is pants. Hope you have better luck Tony, but I would keep that packaging just in case.

Would be interested in hearing about your experiences with the new sound card - especially if there's an improvement in sound quality. I used to have dedicated soundcards too, with noticeable better sound than the onboard solution, like Goldtop suggests, but have stuck with the onboard option in my latest PC build. Cheers, Erling

Tony problem with 917K, have tried cars #3 and #23 and I get the not server screen. I tried #3 over a number of days out of interest just to see how gt's setup for it worked; don't intend to drive it, will use 908 for Porsche drives.
Since other people are experiencing probs thought I'd raise this as well.

Thanks Bill, I'll see if I can find a problem. Will report back asap. EDIT: Now sorted. Some files had not been updated, my bad. Good spot Bill, thanks.

Got my new video card today; MSI Radeon R9 280X Gaming.
Installed and working - except with GTL initially.
No matter how many times I ran the GTL configuration and set my desired resolution, the game switched to 640*480 when it started.
Of course used the latest drivers, and tested with other games, including P&G V3, but only GTL had that problem. Finally solved it by setting the Config program to run as admin. So far I have not seen any of the graphics anomalies that's plagued me the last few days, so hope the problems are solved.
On the down side, this new video card unfortunately suffers from absolutely excessive coil whine, when running taxing 3D applications (GTL not being one - and engine noise overshadowing it anyway)
Some googling suggests this is not an uncommon problem, no matter the GPU or make. Do any of you guys have any experience with this, not least how to possibly cure it ?
My previous card (HIS Radeon HD5750) had small amounts of it, for example when scrolling images, but not loud enough to truly be annoying. New one does it too when scrolling, only annoyingly loud.
Cheers, Erling

I have a duo of XFX ATI Radeon 5870's in Crossfire configuration and they are whisper quiet even when playing Bioshock. But then they are housed in a very soundproof cabinet.

Creative Soundblaster ZX card fitted easily, in fact the entire install was a doddle. Biggest amount of time was spent waiting for all the software packages that come with it to get updates downloaded and installed but all automatic and error free. Card comes with a desktop module that headphones plug into and has large volume control dial so adjustment can be made in real time whilst in game. Here's a link to it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A152RYG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Bill, I think I'll join you in a T70 Maserati - seems to be the most fun . Times so far: 1:28,6 (512 Coda Lunga) 1:28,7 (T70 Maserati on soft tyres - but they will be down after only a few laps, especially on front left) 1:29,7 (T70 Maserati on hard tyres) 1:29,8 (Alfa T33) CU tomorrow night.
