Well also a short race for me. After a good qualy by me and teammate MJ i was looking forward to the race.
Feeling a bit tired though and a slight drop of concentration left me with two wheels in the grass and into the armco. Somehow Ferrari's don't like that to much Roll Eyes

Must say, i enjoyed this one though. Bring on the next one Tony!

Quote
snt there any lead in time from qual to race? I hadn't even joined the grid  Huh  Really annoyed as was really looking forward to that race
ehhm yes, that is what happend to me in my first outing last year. When advancing to race session you only got 30 sec to join the grid!
We will get em next time Mark, no worries Grin

Very sorry to see so many drop out  Sad

Had a great race myself.  Some dicing with Clive in front of me in another Alfa the first few laps, until I slipstreamed past him going into Parabolica.  Soon had Jules breathing down my neck, and had to concentrate hard on going as fast as possible, without making mistakes.  Only halfways through the race had the gap between us grown so much, that I felt I could ease off a tiny bit.  Not much prospect for catching Goldtop, some 30 secs in front, so no need to overdo it.  Inherited 2nd from Postal, when he went out with a bang.   Very happy about that position of course.

Cheers,
Erling

in hindsight a restart would have been appropriate as we lost a quarter of the field at the start  Undecided but hey ho, spilt milk and all, though a 30 secs countdown is daft !  I was still on track when the qual session ended.

"Special Notes: Circuit is named "Italian GP 60's" in track list.
Some cars offer a Modern Compound tyre. Please do not choose these."

Just read this and sure it wasn't in the announcement originally  Shocked

All my pracci has been based on modern comp and I don't really have time to change setups now as it would mean pressures cambers and ratios would be off. Furthermore, how can this possibly be policed and surely if everyone ran mods where available it would balance out?
You right GT. I added that after I did some car testing on or around Boxing Day (26/12/13). I should have added a comment in the thread to draw drivers attention to this. My fault. Your right, it cannot be policed but the few cars that contain the option will have an advantage. We either allow them or rely on drivers not using them. Easiest for me is to allow them.

I did put out a message "Fuel up new guys" or something similar before qualy ended. GTL always gives 30 secs. I cannot red flag a race because we lose some drivers due to accidents, which without having seen a replay yet, is my assumption of what happened to a few drivers.

Roger, I'm very sorry to hear this. Did you join the grid late?

Pity. Somebody tagged me at Lesmo 2. Couldn't steer so I limped to the pits but I couldn't work out how to 'do' the Pit stop.

I totally misunderstood the start countdown  Sad I had not realised that there was a countdown, before the actual start countdown!) I should have tried a couple of offline races as well as simply lap practice Undecided

So I lurched forward as the first countdown ended and presumably got DQ'd for jumping the start. Ah well, all part of the learning curve.....I shall know next time lol. Apologies to anyone who was distracted by my lurching and jumping.

LMAO Clive.... wondered who the numpty was  Roll Eyes

You can file an incident report if you wish

It was just an accident Tony. Just one of those things in online racing. I was looking forward to a bit of tag with Bill but never mind. Thanks for organising. Looks like it is going to be a fun series.

Thanks for the info on the pit stop.

Regarding Modern Tyres:

Three models have the choice of Modern compounds. They are the Porsche 917K, the Ferrari 512S and the Matra-Simca.

Can I ask for your opinion on their use please?

A shame about so many mishaps at the start of what promises to be a cracking series, but good to see a decent size grid  Cool

I was in a bit of a panic coming into this as I'd not done any testing on the vintage tyres and neither had my boy Jules. I cobbled together a setup for us and just hoped the tyres would hold out for 36 laps, which they just about did  sweatdrop

Gotta say I was impressed with Jules' performance......about an hours practise for this having hardly turned a wheel this past year  Shocked

Already looking forward to Spa  Cool

Well the vintage tyres actually had more feel to them imo, but the moderns were 2 to 2.5 secs a lap quicker here. Cars do seem to be more evenly matched with vintage.

Having said that, personally I'd prefer to have moderns allowed as it saves any confusion as with Rog this evening, but also the fact that it is impossible to police their use. We all have the same limited car choices for the season after all.
