@ Matt. I have revised all of the future race announcements to state Mk3B/C for the Lola T70's. Sorry for the confusion.

I was in a bit of a panic coming into this as I'd not done any testing on the vintage tyres and neither had my boy Jules. I cobbled together a setup for us and just hoped the tyres would hold out for 36 laps, which they just about did  sweatdrop

So you were on vintage during the race ?

Cheers,
Erling

I think we should stick to vintage tyres, don't let moderns be used for such a classic series. If anyones laptime is questionable they could be asked to submit their setup (which would be timestamped via the files properties before the race (8.40pm)...any file submitted with a later time or date than the race start would mean it had been altered post race and therefore deemed cheated!) Not sure if any replay files would tell you what tyres they ran so its only way to check.

The Fezza 512 had 'Vintage' and 'Soft vintage' tyres available. I used both depending on session. Still annoyed I didn't get to race  Angry

Yes, both myself and Jules were on vintage for quali and race. We both quailed on vintage softs and Jules stayed on vintage softs for the race while I chose the presumably harder compound vintage.

Not sure how MJ's solution would work. What's a "questionable" laptime  Undecided Has the potential to create ill feeling if you ask me.

I couldn't find a car I liked, though we have used these cars before, I found they all had a mind of their own about
where they wanted to go, I reduced steering angle down to 8 on the 917K to get it half drivable
Anyway I got tangled in the bushes in T2 trying to give people room, and got stuck on a fence post that spun me round
into the way of following cars, apologies to anyone who crashed into me, my health went to 0 so I quit.

LMAO Clive.... wondered who the numpty was  Roll Eyes

[/quote]

LoL,  I KNEW who the Numpty was immediately!!! It kind of clicked when the first countdown reached zero and I dropped the clutch, then a big "3" appeared in the middle of my screen followed by a "2".........

Quick as a flash, my brain cell abandoned its task of making pictures out of the clouds in the sky and processed the available options. It decided that it was in fact a distinct possibility that I had cocked up the start!!!  blink

BTW should I have seen a warning that I had been guilty of a jump start??? or should I just assume that I was wrong and dive into the pits for a StopnGo penalty??  Is there a correct procedure for twits like me?

Dignitas?

I believe that if the system catches you, you receive a Stop/Go penalty message. Then you need to follow this https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=11928.msg214835#msg214835.

Or you may get a DQ straight away. I'm not sure which applies. Anyone else know the answer to this'n?

Hi Tony sorry did not see your special notice on modern tires, (Please put any changes in large red letters just for me  Wink) found them and used in qually knocked over 3 seconds off my lap times. Exit server then had to try several times to get back in poss DQ to me taking to long to load old setup and fuel.

I've learn't my lesson Roger. Just because I write it, doesn't mean that drivers will read it  Roll Eyes  Wink

In future I will make a post for such announcements etc. Just gutted that both yourself and MJ missed out. Please let's (me included) all get our acts together for Spa?

I'm still in two minds regarding tyre choice tho  Undecided

I do agree with the "keep it real and vintage" lobby but also worry about the effective policing and potential bad feeling this may cause.

Keep your opinions coming and I'll announce my decision asap.

There could be your answer re 'questionable lap times'  GT  Wink  Grin

its a difficult one, cant they be removed out of the cars files somehow? Though surely we merry few enthusiasts that want to race this series are ethical enough to stick to only using Vintage tyres rather than gain a shoddy lead using moderns? Spirit of racing and all that  euro

I'll need to check the .tyr files if there are any. Then I would have to revise and re-issue the download installer.

Ah, I misunderstood your earlier post and thought you were on moderns in the race.  When you then stated that they were 2.5 secs quicker per lap, and race stats showed your fastest lap just being 1.1 secs quicker than mine, some intriguing math started churning in my head LOL  Grin

With regards to the tyres, I would prefer just vintage, as it otherwise gives a few cars what seems like an unfair advantage, but do acknowledge the difficulty of policing it.  Best of course if the option can be edited out, then there's no question about anyone cheating.

Cheers,
Erling

Following a brief inspection of the Matra's tyre file it does look as if something may well be done to the Modern tyre.

I need to test on my home pc tonight.

That would not be a popular solution  hang
