Hi Tony that looks interesting, watched the demos, great for side views,is it poss to turn the forward back movement off and just allow side orientation (turn head left/right)?

Yeah, you can configure it to do pretty much anything. I just use the default driving setup. You soon get used to it and nowadays I don't even notice I'm using it until I try to drive without it switched on.

@Erling.....no pro gear here, just a standard dfgt with half a squash ball stuffed under the brake pedal  laugh I use paddle shifters and don't use autoclutch which can allow swifter gear changes on some cars but means that I need to take more care downshifting.

I don't consider myself much good at setups and don't spend much time on them, other than I like to make the car feel nimble and get it reacting quickly which usually means stiffening it up a little. Works on some cars better than others.

I've spent a lot of time on ffb settings which are pretty lightweight and which I've adapted from PnG. I've also made a few tweaks to my controller settings to ensure there are no deadzones. I run a realistic FOV on a closely set 27" screen to give that in the seat feel.

As for technique, I do concentrate on being smooth and braking lightly and early which allows me to get on the throttle much sooner and get me through the corners under control. I suppose this is the classic technique which probably explains why I struggle against the aliens who have learned more advanced braking techniques. It does however have the advantage of making me more difficult to pass as I'm quick out of the corners and helps me to be consistent (usually Smiley )

Midichlorians... must be the midichlorians... Grin

Joking aside; thanks for the insight GT.  Your dfgt appears closely related to my dfp, so curious about the squash ball; how does that work ?
The bit about smoothness I can recognize - often found in GTL that if I stop trying to be fast, and focus on being smooth instead, laptimes often continues to drop anyway.

Have noticed the advantage about no autoclutch; many seem to use it.  Tried it myself once, but didn't like it - spun when downshifting, and didn't like the fact that the cars all sounds like they have automatic transmission..  Smiley

Bill: what a bummer  Sad  Did you try any of the last suggestions from Tony and me ?

Cheers,
Erling

The half squash ball just gives the brake pedal a bit more feel so that you're pressing against something instead of just moving a volume pot. Works on the theory that it is easier to modulate pressure than it is to remember distance the pot has to rotate and makes braking more consistent. DFP has same pedals and it's just a case of cutting the ball in half (though I believe some use a whole one  Shocked) and squeezing it under the brake pedal to limit the amount of travel. I also have some screwed up paper at each side to stop it moving around (very sophisticated  Smiley).

I'd like to get some G25/G27 pedals sometime (not bothered about the wheel as I prefer the dfgt) as there are some better mods available for this than the squash ball method.

Bill, we want to help you but your problem description skills need some honing mate.

What settings and where, In GTL?

Also try googling questions because you can bet your life whatever your experiencing, someone else will have had it too and probably found a solution.

To start with all worked OK until I registered on line and got into the lobby of the default (German Server).  I selected a free site and got onto it OK, it worked initially but then I was dumped.  When I got back I tried to drive again but none of the foot pedals or gear change paddles would work.  I exited GTL and then I checked in the  Logitech Profiler and all the G25 controls worked OK - am using the latest download V5.10.127 which is Win 7 compatible.

Went back to GTL and opened up Options and tried to reset the wheel but as I tried to setup the functions and as I went down the list of functions the setting of some of the earlier function selected wheel settings were changed to - - and the foot pedal graphics in the bottom left hand corner showed the foot pedals were not operating.  I exited and rebooted the computer and tried again.  After repeating this procedure 2 or 3 time I could not even change any settings at all in Options Control.

Spent time this morning - see earlier post reply to Erling without success.

Sorry it's so convoluted Tony but initially I tried to keep it simple.  As it seems to be possibly linked to the G25 Wheel I've looked on the Logitech website (www.logitech.com/support) but not been able to find out any answers.  Any thoughts?

Leave you to your racing Tony.  Will try and get hold of my neighbour (software engineer) tomorrow and see if he can do anything.

Sorry to hear this Bill; had high hopes my idea would help  Sad

Not sure what to suggest; tried googling for problems with GTL / G25, but difficult to describe it, and didn't find anything that sounds like your issues.

Would you happen to have a backup of your earlier, working GTL folder, or perhaps just your .PLR file (found in player subfolder of UserData folder) ?

If you do, you could try and simply copy it on top of your current installation, or replace the .PLR file with the older one.  With a little luck, that might restore the earlier, working settings.  You may have to remove write protection on the various folders to do this.

Best of luck and hope to see you back soon,
Erling

My earlier post was an abridged version of my efforts.  When I switched on my computer first I had to install my Wi-Fi printer and G25 software using the installation discs.  On installing the G25 I was surprised to see that my original wheel Controllers/Properties/Settings showed my original Rotation Angle (420 deg) and the other settings as I had used before.  (When I subsequently downloaded the latest Win 7 compatible version 5.10.127 it showed the Rotation as the full 980 deg with the other settings blank.)  I thought it odd but as I said in my earlier post I tried to rush things.  So I copied my Season 14 installation from my USB drive and tried it but it didn’t work.

I uninstalled it and did a new installation using my original GTLDK files, again from the USB.  What happened then I posted earlier on this forum.
Since then I’ve tried changing the PRL file and making a copy of the new installation and overwriting it with Season 14 installation all with no success.
Have made an appointment with my neighbour for tomorrow night so here’s hoping he knows what to do.

Will keep you posted.

@ Bill - do you want my player profile file? you just change the file name to your name and the password? It's set for a G27 but will probably be the same. If it works you could then tweak the other settings to suit your needs.

Thanks for the offer Tony, will wait and see what happens tomorrow night.
