Just tried some of these cars around the track.

Jeez what a difference between them!!! just my views here for what they are worth....

The BMW's are certainly instant favourites in my eyes, smooth and quick with only minor tweaks

the Porker is OK but I find it a bit nervous over any kerbs.

The Opel's are the best sounding cars  drool  with that magic grumble and crackle on the engine overrun ( but that won't win any points unfortunately)

The Escort is nimble, but I found that it struggled for outright pace..maybe that's me and the setup?

The Nissan I have yet to try but I am expecting it to be quick on the straight bits.

The mini looks underpowered against the bigger cars here, but I suspect that someone will hustle it around at an impressive rate!

That was quite good fun until I mistook the clutch for the brake... ah well, pulled off one outrageous pass with my eyes closed <ahem>

Mini was GREAT fun here because you could brake VERY late. Might have done better if I had downloaded the track before 8pm... didn't quite feel I really knew the layout... sorry to anyone I got in the way of, especially Eiffelblitz who I surprised with my overbraking.

Only good enough for some single fast practicing laps at the moment.

Dropped to last within first two laps or so, was unable to pass Bill and Paul in the
Minis - which were fast through the corners, strong on brakes and not slow enough
on the straights - due to the tricky behaviour/setup of the Beemer.
So I lost motivation and quit.
The Mini would have been the better choice for me.

Tactical choice going for the Escort here and was hoping I'd have a few battles but soon found myself in a gap to front and rear. Tried to apply some pressure for the last few laps as Erling was making his way past backmarkers but I overcooked it and ended up in the kitty litter  Roll Eyes

Nice drive Erling and a well deserved win  Cool

Well whaddayaknow, it IS possible to win a race with Goldtop in it - shame of course that it takes a much faster car to do so..  Wink

Didn't expect to win this one, but naturally very happy about it.  A troublefree but also lonely race; except for Goldtop's company in the early laps, I didn't see anyone until passing backmarkers late in the race - hope I didn't interfere too much with your duel guys.

Love the Beemer; the noise, the way it drives, it's just 'right' somehow. wub  Whoever made this car for GTL did one helluva job!!  yes
It's going to be a teary eyed goodbye, once I've used up my 3 allotments.

Sad to see my teammate retire though; hope the next round will be better Kurt.

Btw, I think we all deserve a pat on the back for getting through the start, and the first few corners without (serious) incidents.  clap

Thanks Gt; I did wonder what happened when the gap suddenly jumped from around 11 secs to 27, and decided my pit crew needed a good spanking for putting out such an erroneous board. Good thing I didn't get round to do it yet..  Grin

Cheers,
Erling

Thanks to Matt for taking care of the admin for this race, much appreciated. BTW were you in the Nissan?
I will sort out the cars/tyres etc when I return which sadly won't be too long now.
Looking forward to the next one in this series.

That was a really interesting Race, at least for me, had a good start jumped from 4th to 2nd place before the first corner, but did a small mistake later and Goldtop passed me so I cruised in 3rd place till the chequered flag .... The Beemer is a beautiful car to drive on this track.

That was my first podium....   thumbup2

See u next week

An extremely enjoyable nights racing (guess I'd better forget about moaning about my brakes after this race and concentrate on driving).  New PBs in qual and race and battles throughout the race, also only lapped by the winner - Erling certainly seemed to be enjoying his race by the way he slipped down the inside of me on the approach to a slow right hander, touch of brakes and off into the distance.

Made a good start and avoided any first lap contact, had early battles with Kurt and Paul.  About half way through race noticed Clive was slowly but surely closing me down I started to push as hard as I could, made a couple of minor errors and he was on my tail I managed to brake as late as I dared and put power down as soon as possible and managed just stay ahead to the finish it was hard going but satisfying.  Thanks for giving me racing room, EvilClive the Gentleman.  Grin rockon

I think my lack of experience with car choices around here does me no favours. I went for the Opel simply because it was different and sounded good. I had done a 2:16 with a Beemer offline within 3 laps, so I'm sure I could have squeezed another second out of that car...still not on the pace of the fast guys, but respectable I guess?

My race was screwed when I clipped a kerb in T1 on the 3rd lap and stuffed the nose into the wall, it took me far too long to a) restart the engine...b)stall it coz its in 3rd gear, get it into neutral........c)  restart the engine......d) drop the clutch in reverse and stall......e) start the engine ..................... I think you are getting the picture?

After that it was a case of throwing the huge Opel around and trying to hunt down the cars in front... a long way in front!!  I made a couple of errors and lost time I had gained, but slowly I the mini ahead got bigger until with about 4 laps to go I was on his tail.
The last laps were a David and Goliath battle as I struggled to make my extra power negate that mini and his ruddy late braking and quick cornering. I got alongside a couple of times but I had to brake earlier or I knew I would simply flatten Bill and his mini at the next apex  Roll Eyes.

Great fun and a fascinating battle, I wish we had had a few more laps of that Bill  Wink

I think I am still not punishing these cars enough, as I finished the race with same engine health as I started 99% and all tyres still at least 90% good and green. Maybe it is time to get more nasty with them lol.

Grats to the winners and I am enjoying the learning curve in these tin tops  Grin

I was in the 911 1972 model, which doesn't seem to exist in our cars list, thought the other did so I did it as "dummy" rather than
delay the results. I couldn't keep any of the other cars on the track for long as I lost the back end under braking
in all of them.
