Great fun and a fascinating battle, I wish we had had a few more laps of that Bill  Wink

I think I am still not punishing these cars enough, as I finished the race with same engine health as I started 99% and all tyres still at least 90% good and green. Maybe it is time to get more nasty with them lol.

Grats to the winners and I am enjoying the learning curve in these tin tops  Grin

Yes a few more laps would have been fun.  I drove the Mini in a Mini v Escort Series last season and feel I could have kept going for a few more laps - first time since PC fixed I've been able to get in the grove.  rockon Also I think some of us found last season that it's not the tyres that screw the big heavy cars but the front brakes.  They show red in Xd (Mini still all green) and near end of race tend to snatch on braking causing the car to spin.

I think the next race at Imola 88 will restore me to my usual position.  Roll Eyes  Grin

I was in the 911 1972 model, which doesn't seem to exist in our cars list, thought the other did so I did it as "dummy" rather than
delay the results. I couldn't keep any of the other cars on the track for long as I lost the back end under braking
in all of them.

Sorting car for Imola 88, I have Porsche 1972 911S  in my list of cars.

That doesn't sound right Bill - Imola race is in the 'World Championship of Makes' series, so it should be the 'monster cars'.  Finding one to drive is quite a dilemma - they all seem ill suited to all those chicanes and high curbs..  Undecided

Cheers,

Sorry Tony.  I was trying to point out to Matt that the Porsche 1972 911S is probably the car he used as it's part of the car download for that RACE Series.

I have no problem with the Porsche 906-03 that I will drive at Imola 88.  Sorry for confusion.

Be nice to have you back but expect it'll be a culture shock to get back here just in time for Winter's return.  Roll Eyes

You are correct Bill. What I was telling TOny was that car does not appear to be in the list on LM2i
so when we do the results it refuses because the car is not in the database, so I left it as "unknown"
for the time being. When we do the results and there are cars/drivers that it (LM2i) has not seen before in an event
we have to select them from a "known" pre-created list, and it wasn't in the list, which is controlled by Dave Gymer
from car lists we supply whenever we get a new version/mod.

It happens a lot that we have to confirm the car or driver for the results, but normally they will be
in the list it offers us for confirmation, this one wasn't.

It's not the same thing as what we download for the race.  blink

I have the XD display working and I think that I thought that I understand about the tyre wear indicators but,  what is this about brakes and wear rates etc??!!!!  Is that the little numbers alongside the tyre wear indicators?? and how do I interpret those?

Sorry for delay in answering this - didn't want to give you duff gen.  Xd_readme give basic info on MoTech readings; Vitum.de gives info on improvements in all updtes, V.2.0.0 added brake wear.

When you look at the MoTech display the coloured bands show the tyre and brake info, the figures at the top show the tyre temperatues across the tyre and the outer green/orange/red band shows the tyre wear.  As you use up the wear the green band starts to decrease from the top until only the red band is left.  At this stage your brakes are knackered and the brakes tend to snatch and spin the car.  To get the brakes fixed you need to do a pit stop to change the tyres on the offending axle, as well as changing the tyres the brake wear band is returned to the starting position.

aha!!  I think I understand now, thanks Bill.   I just could not recall seeing anything about brakes.

TBH it had not even occurred to me that GTL might model brake wear  Roll Eyes. and anyway, brakes are for wimps!  Grin
