Season 25 Friday Trophy - Rounds 25 & 26 - SpaAnd on to the next round for the 40 race series that is the Friday Trophy, this time at an old favourite Spa. Again this is a relatively long circuit so space should open up, but slipstreaming might be crucial whether you are in front or behind. There are a few more challenging corners in between the long fast sections so it should still be an interesting challenge. This should be a track where the handicap for the Lights gives the Heavies a real chance to get amongst the podium slots with their faster cars. Keeping mistakes to a minimum and using the extra pace on the long straights might cause some problems for the Lights. This round is for the GTs and Can Ams. Heavies Lights Cars for GT Chap 2F Porsche 910 Mirage M1 and Ford Mk2B Cars for Can Am Mclaren M8D and Lola 260 Porsche 917/10 and Ferrari 712M "Please ensure you are aware of the new in-series penalties for this season. Hi, I have signed up for this series. If all goes well, I will join you for the races Friday. I don't expect to be very competitive. I was not very quick in the Nov 65 mod race at Spa. I mostly want to get some seat time, and become more comfortable with these cars. My practice time in the Porsche 910 is 3:43 I think. I did a quick drive in the Lola 260 also. Thanks, Walter
EDIT: I did my first test race with both mods. My most recent laptime is 3:41 in the Porsche 910 with some draft help, and 3:10 in the Lola 260 with some draft help.

Race Day
I did a little work on the Can Am today, and was able to do a 3:04, but my average laptime will probably be a 3:06. I also tested the Chap 2F. I was pleased to see the Texas license plate (my home state). But I will drive the Pork today in the S.C. race. See you trackside, Walter

Hey Walter, its a shame to not take a texan Chapparal here, it is the easiest to drive car here and the only "real" GT to take the Masta flat! Maybe you want to try my race setup of my ChapF

There are also 4, 3 and 0 in my best time. Just not the same order Might be able to make race 2 but Girl Guides (picking them up, not being one!) precludes race 1.

Well Done Podium finishers!
Cookie, thanks for the Chap 2F setup. It worked like a charm. I squandered most of the practice session. First, I joined the server with the wrong Chaparral. Second, I used the wrong player profile (65 mod) to join the server, and so I had to enter the setup in manually. I was able to complete two laps in the Chap 2F before the race started. I figured out my mistakes before the second race at least.
Dave C., If I had known that you were taking the Porsche 910, I probably would have chosen that car also. However, I can't say for sure what I would have done.
The second race was fun while it lasted. I would have had a better finishing position if the race was only 3 laps though. I changed the final drive ratio at the last minute and It gave me too much wheel spin. So no consistency in my first race, but it gave me lots of smiles. Thanks, WC

Uhm...guys, in the GT race I've thrown a possible victory out of window making a stupid mistake. In the Canam race I was starting from the pole but Raoni kicked me out just after some corners so my race has been all a pursuit but...I knew that only 5 laps could have been way too few for a decent manche and any little mistake should have prejudged the entire race so I was full throttle whenever it has been possible and, I almost achieved the best result. Anyway the last 2 laps fighting with Axel have been few of the best I ever done and very...exciting.
In the GPFun championship any race has lasted 1 and a half hours so I am sorry but for me a race of 5x3=15mins is insufficient for a serious championship.

It should have been 9 laps Sergio but there was an error in the Season file.

Grats again to the podiums of, Axl, Raoni and Clive race 1; Dean L ,Sergio and Axl race 2. Great fun for me again. PB's in both cars, job done and happy to finish mid pack in both races. I spun a couple of times in race 1 but fortunately those behind just managed to avoid me on the way by, thank you. Oh and stealing 4th from Walter literally on the run to the finish line, sorry mate. Race 2 after a slight skirmish at the start I chased as hard as I could but Walter and Clive had the better of me. No excuses BUT I had clearly got the fuelling wrong with some 15 gallons in the tank at the end!!! In the GPFun championship any race has lasted 1 and a half hours so I am sorry but for me a race of 5x3=15mins is insufficient for a serious championship.
Think of the race distance as the four races at the same track combined if it helps. Personally I'm glad this championship is not too serious for everyone. But what a shame so many are still missing out. See you all at the next one.

Yes it should have been 9 laps but...how to keep the qually results and restarting the server also ? To do this job it is necessary to save the grid order and make reenter each driver on the server in the same order as the grid, avoiding each driver to go on track untill the game is manually switched from qualify to race. That's all m8 but at least the race would have been a race not only a sprint.
I think the championship should be considered serious instead, always a game -obviously- but a serious game. Last year the criticism has been about the rolling starts then this year the rule has changed and we have a normal stand still start and...the people are lesser or equal the last year. Why ?

Sorry again for the mess with the too short distance I have to use 2 different season.ini's for GT and CA and the season.ini's use different track.ini's what I got wrong... not finally controlled... ATM I am a little handicapped by a virus infection taking strong medicine So I couldn't avoid Sergio from snapping my 2nd in the last corner... But my races were still fun on this track where I know every inch (by of lots of offline laps in my pre online GPL times )
