Moderator's Report

SUMMARY
After a lightning start to take the lead, a mistake at the second corner dropped Tristan Bot down to last place. However that didn't prevent him from delivering a stunning drive to fight his way back up through the field. Unfortunately in the process he rear-ended Andy Livingstone and although the contact was fairly light it damaged Andy's suspension. Consequently Tristan picked up a place penalty, dropping him to second place on the podium. Andy is promoted to first place with David Rainier picking up a large haul of points for third place. Tristan's progress through the field was helped by several of the faster drivers experiencing mechanical problems or making unforced errors nevertheless he proved his outright pace by claiming the fastest lap.

Despite crashing out from the lead with five laps to go, Sam still took fourth place which has allowed him to put one hand on the trophy. Now David Rainier is the only other driver with a mathematical chance of winning the title.

Lap 6 - Turn 8 - Tristan Bot and Andrew Livingston
Tristan gets too close to Andrew in the braking zone for Turn 8 and contact is made. Andy is pushed wide but he manages to stay on the tarmac. However his suspension is damaged which compromises the rest of his race.

Andy did nothing wrong, he was driving at his normal pace on his normal line.

Tristan simply braked too late. He locked up in a desperate attempt to avoid contact, nevertheless he must take responsibility for the incident.

There is the very slightest on contact registered on the server but due to internet lag the contact on Andrew's client was quite significant. We all have to understand and appreciate the consequences of internet lag (commonly referred to as warp) and drive accordingly. In most cases that means leaving a larger gap to the car in front than one might reasonably get away with in real life. It is the responsibility of the following car to ensure the gap is adequate and to only close up when making an attempt to overtake. Consequently this incident has to be classed as a Rear End Shunt (See Penalty Guidelines - Blatant Rear End Shunt - Scenario 1) but with mitigation because of Warp down to a penalty of one place.

Sorry Phil, I 'v changed my e-mail but forget to change it on UKGPL...... Undecided.........so I don't get the report....never mind, it's a little late now, but I load the UK reaplay and it's exactly the same as my reaplay.......there is no contact at all ! angel.......and I don't anderstand how Andy can reclaim , I was around 2s faster per lap in the race( Ifinish one minute in front of him ), so I logicaly will overtake him very soon, and the "bug-lag" don't change anything to the final result ( you can see that Andy was very consistant during the race after the "bug-contact" ) and his lap time during the race prouve that the car was ok.....in the end he finish second and that is a good result I think....so is not very fair to report this incident to gain a place that you cannot gain in race !.......
......and I take 2 PP for that !....... Huh
to vainquish whitout peril , one triumph without glory Kiss

Hi Tristan

I'm absolutely certain Andy would not want to win because of your misfortune.  We all want to win on our own merits.  The decision to award a penalty was mine, nothing to do with Andy.  I needed both client replays and the server replay to make a decision.  The incident reporting system notifies drivers when they have been involved in a reported incident but in order for that to work properly your profile must be updated with your current email address.  I've checked on your profile and the registered email address is [email protected] which is probably why you didn't get notified.

Please update your profile and submit an appeal to Badblood, he will look at the incident again.

Good luck at Estoril tonight.

Regards

Phil
