Moderator's Report

SUMMARY
Tristan Bot capitalized on his pole position to lead the way for the first half of the race until a simple mistake at the end of lap 16 gifted the lead to Bob Whitwell. Bob tried to use the power of the Eagle to keep Tristan at bay but after a few laps the pressure took its toll and Bob ran wide on the exit of the last corner. Tristan re-took the lead and after a coming together at the next corner that both cars were very lucky to survive, he held on to take the win. Bob eventually claimed the runner-up spot with Doni Yourth grabbing the final bottle of champagne for Season 25.

Lap 1 - Turn 8 - Ronnie Peterson and Phil Thornton
Ronnie had slipped back after spinning up his rear wheels and taking to the grass on the exit of Curva VIP. He was trying to get past the slower drivers in an effort to get back in touch with the leading pack but as he entered Turn 8 he got too close to Phil's gearbox and contact was made putting both cars out of the race.

Phil did nothing wrong he was driving his normal line and pace.

Ronnie was clearly faster than Phil but he wasn't attempting a pass. There was some significant warp shown by Ronnie's car on the previous corner and this probably contributed to the incident. Nevertheless Ronnie should have taken more care when working his way back up through the field after recovering from an incident especially on lap 1 when warp effects tend to be more prevalent.

Lap 21 - Turn 1 - Bob Whitwell and Tristan Bot
Bob has just lost the lead to Tristan and he is in the slipstream of the Lotus as the pair approach Turn 1. Bob gets a bit too close to Tristan and contact is made. Tristan's Lotus is catapulted into the air and miraculously lands back on all four wheels apparently unscathed. Fortunately Bob's Eagle also appears to be undamaged and both cars can continue.

Tristan Bot did nothing wrong.

Bob got a bit too close to Tristan but the resulting contact was greater than one would expect for a closing speed of 4mph.

Final moderation for Season 25 published!

Congratulations to Sam Blood on winning the UKGPL Blue Riband event, the 67 Works!  This is Sam's second championship having won the 65 Novices back in Season 16, well done Sam.  This season has been very competitive with 9 different winners over the 10 races, Ronnie Peterson is the only man to stand on the top of the podium twice this season.  A special acknowledgement must go to David Rainier who in his first season in the Works managed to claim second position in the championship and pushed Sam all the way to the final round.  David has shown that consistent driving and regular finishes is the way to build points up for the championship.

The format for Season 26 is likely to remain the same, so if you want another season of superb racing in the 67F1s keep a look out for the registration threads for Season 26.

Thanks Phil ! but like you, it was my second season with the Works (season 24, I finished only 8th).
My final second position in season25  is just a miracle because I was often, if not always, the slowest driver among Works, and miracles will not happen every year !

LOL of course you are right, I should have checked your race history Wink.  Nevertheless to finish second in your second season is very impressive.

I hope so too.  Not sure when Season 26 starts but I'll have to start thinking about track selections over the Christmas break.
