*** This will be using the Simbin lobby ***
Make sure your LOCAL _IP_LOBBY.TXT file contains gtr2server1.gtr-evolution.com
Some have found that they can get straight in. Others have had to change their username or password or re-register
RACE START: Lights on left, go on GREEN

Practice server will be available before Qual using normal practice password

Server will restart for Qual at 19:20 and will use race password.
Please note: changing cars during Qual is not allowed. Race with whatever you join qual with.

Race: 20:40 25 Laps (~ 50mins)
Cars allowed: GT40 Gulf, GT40 MKII, GT40 MK1, 906 -6/8, 906 - All except 6/8, Pantera Modena, Pantera BOSS, 911 RSR 3.0, 911 RSR 2.8
Porche 914, Cobra 427, Daytona Coupe, Ferrari 275 Speciale, Corvette Grand Sport, Lotus Elan.

N.B Car list will reduce by one car choice each event, the most popular car will be dropped from the list, if a tie, then the one with the most points of the tied cars will be dropped

Weather: Dry
Start: Standing

Tyre wear: Normal

Pit Stops: You must make a minimum of one pit stop during which you must take on at least 1 litre of fuel and/or change a tyre.

Server: simracing.org.uk P8SC
Password: see above

Championship Standings

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v3 from:  http://gtlw-blog.flyingpig.info/
(4) Watch our for pit lane speeding, some tracks support this.
(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect

There are:
4x Very fast tracks, 4x Medium , and 4x slower/tighter tracks
And pitstops are only at half the events

There are 12 Events, and 15 cars, so there will be a choice of 4 cars at the last event.
The Le Mans Finale is the "revived" version, and (force field on) it's the one with the chicanes
After the way the last one turned out I have no choice.

Rough guide to track Pace and which events have Pit Stops:

Faster: Barcelona (Stop); Paul Ricard;  Spa (Stop); Le Mans revived (Stop);

Medium: Melbourne (Albert Park);  Imola (Stop);  Interlagos;   Mexico 67;

Slower: Hungaroring (Stop);   Keimola;   Portimao (Stop);  Albi;

Don't believe everything you read in the papers CLive. Normal event admin is easy enough, but creating championships, assigning scoring systems
making the event groups, and have the events show up so you can create them is great fun  Shocked especially when you can't create
an event until you have already created one... and then the page text has links that point at old series. etc etc
I love this time of year  Grin

I like the greasy Rabbit idea though. This one is less slippery, I just pull one car from the hat list each event until you end up with a small number
of cars to choose from at the end of the year.

Great car list for this track but almost too much choice n'est pas?  Shocked whatever car I choose will feel I am missing out not driving a few others! Should be fun and interesting format though  Smiley two distinct groups at least, will end up with an Élan or Gt40 mk1 race at end of season  Wink

Pretty well as you say Mark. Tony ran a series with this format a couple of years ago and it went well.
Some of this year's things are to reduce the amount of testing I needed to do, (either that or I would have to give this up)
this is one of them, where the competitors do the car choosing themselves. I am intending to make pit stops mandatory
for evey other event in this series to make the car choice not just about outright speed.

I will try to mix up the track types as well, so the GT40s are not always the obvious choice.
True for the first events there will be a lot of thinking about which car to run, it may be that some events end up
as a spec race as one car is so dominant, but no car can be dominant for more than one event, as it will be dropped
going forward. I think Tony made it so there was just one (EDIT: or two) car(s) left on the 12th event. I have left it more open
I might even add another car if it mixes it up a bit more. For now what you see is what we have. the next event
will not need pitstops, the one after will etc etc. The pit stop events will be a few minutes longer than the normal 40 mins.

It is likely that there will be more than one opportunity to run a particular car, it is only the most popular one that will
be dropped after each event. This is why I have included all the GT40s and more than one entry for 906s and 911s
so you won't just lose "GT40s" in one go.

OK!   stupid

Can someone explain in words of less than 2 syllables some of the complexities here.  wacko

" 2x fuel "   Huh do we have to carry twice as much fuel as we need? or is fuel consumption twice as much as usual??   or Huh

Is there an idiots guide to pitstops somewhere?  Never experienced a pitstop in PnG, or GTL in my 1 week of experience, so I need to learn fast if i am to get 4 tyres changed in 3.2 secs!!!

The Clutterbucks will never manage that and neither will anyone else for that matter.

Seems to take about a week!

I thought that Erik (aka Jester) had aimed you at pit stop info in the Solitude thread?

You will be provided with sufficient wisdom via email.  Sufficient for what will remain to be seen!  Grin

Wot Non Evil CLive said.
the really good pitstoppers like Legzy have it off to a fine art.
I just leave engine starting as automatic and let the guys take their own sweet time, wastes a few seconds, but I never
have any trouble with stopping or getting going again.

2xfuel (and it may become 2xtyre wear at some events) means the fuel (or tyres) will last half as long as normal, so you need twice as much
most cars will probably not be able to complete the races without a splash and dash, though when it's an event with stops
taking a stop, however short, with one litre of fuel or a tyre change is the minimum and is mandatory.

@ EvilClive, GTL Pitstop procedure explained here https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=11812.0 Pretty much the same for P&G but you have Ignition and Starter buttons to map.

Some things that spring to mind about the differences between GTR2/PnG pitstops and GTL pitstops:

If you overshoot your pit box, you can't reverse back/shuffle around to try and get the crew to service your car. You'll need to drive round another lap & try again.

Don't forget to turn off the ignition when you stop, otherwise you'll wonder why the crew are standing there doing nothing. You can turn it back on and start the engine once the crew have finished re-fueling and have moved on to changing the tyres. As others have said - if you have no buttons mapped for ignition & starter then the game will do it for you, but it's a little bit slower.

There's no pit speed limiter in PnG. However, some tracks have a hard-coded speed limit. The easiest way to find out is to try a pitstop in a practice race. The game will limit your car to a certain speed on the way in & out if this is true. You can still get a penalty by coming in too fast though.

You can set your pit strategy in advance by going to the 'Advanced setup' in the garage screen. You can set number of stops & amount of fuel, but can't specify not to change tyres (they will be changed by default) or not to repair damage. All of this can still be changed on the pit board when you actually stop though.

If you have XD (www.vitumo.de) installed, you can change your pit options (including tyres & repairs) during the race.

Well that jus about covers it.

You can practice with increased fuel consumption by clicking on the "realism" tab and setting it there.

Really? Didn't know that. How do you work it?
