UKPnG Season 9 British Historic Cup - Cadwell Park - Feb 20

The original car choice was Tony's suggestion, I put them here as it seemed a nice "traditional" UK club circuit.
Adding the 4.2 jag worked out well fortunately.
Bob needs an award for "most patience under fire" Following my fat barge rear end for lap after lap must have been testing  

Oh, the default Jag tyres melted very fast, but the option ones lasted well, I think I had about 1/2 wear and all green
at the end of the race.

When Federico came at me at the beginning of the race I was fairly comfortable, in that I could corner well enough to ensure that Jag power would sort things on corner exit.

Later in the race, Federico caught me at an alarming rate and I couldn't get through the left-hander after the Goose Neck fast enough to stop him driving around me.  It was his crafty move of pulling across me to the left and staying there that kept him ahead though.  By the time that I realised that he wasn't moving over to the right for the mountain I nearly rammed him. 

I could also have made life easier by not being asleep when the lights went green.  That dropped me behind SuperSwift in his 3.8 Jag and it took me a few laps to recover.  By then the leaders were long gone but thankfully Federico had his hands full with SS and Legzy.  Legzy simply failed to keep hold of him long enough.  Come on Legzy, sharpen up there!   

Congratulations to Giuseppe, John and Donato; although looking at the pace that Federico had at the end they can all be thankful that the rest of us kept him busy!

Hmm, cant say I enjoyed it like most of you. I felt the race was 5 laps too long and I just felt bored, hot and frustrated with the ill handling Jag at the end, but it was a race of two halves for sure. Plus...what do you mean, 'option' tyres for the Jag??! there were only Dunlop R12's? as far as I was concerned/knew    and they were butchered at the end on 28 wear and all red temps on xd. That explains why I went from being 8th/9th & 10th all race down to 13th in the last 5 laps I wondered how the hell Matt took 4 seconds out of me on one lap (without me making any mistake) using the same car towards the end    I know its within the rules/limitation of the game but it does p*ss me off that some can find loopholes to get an advantage with the same damn car  and yes I know I 'could' have picked those option tyres too but hardly within the spirit of classics racing...grumble grumble. Im more angry that the game allows it than someone taking advantage of it, so im not having a dig at anyone just venting off!!

Qually was frustrating for most of the sesh, I just couldn't find the pace of those I normally compete with. But then with a few minutes to go I tried a different tactic at the 'mountain' and suddenly popped in a 1:43 and leapt about 8 places on the grid 
Race:- first two-thirds was good fun, battling lots of cars and keeping a top 10 place, which was a nice surprise considering my lack of praccy for this one. Most of it was spent battling Geoffers like an annoying mosquito in his green mini and keeping Bob's Cortina just behind. Sadly, as mentioned above, it all went t*ts up near the end when the tyres became red hot and boredom set in. I dropped like a stone down four places to 13th in a matter of a few laps and had really had enough of lugging a near 2-ton lump on melted tyres around lovely Cadwell Park.  :'(
Sharn't be in a rush to race these again.

I think Matt means the D9's - ie, the medium tyres that were also selectable for the Jag. The soft D12's were just the default option in the garage.

What I was trying to say is that there were two, legitimate, tyre choices for the Jag, D12's & D9's. No funny business going on. I guess Mark just didn't notice before the race.

Yep D12s were the default and were hard, the D9s were a selectable option and were in the chart as very hard
The D12s were traffic lights after a few laps, the D9s stayed green and wore much better.

Most of the cars in PG have a choice of tyres, the Dunlop cars sometimes get green/yellow/red to choose from
no cheating or sneaky advantage here. SOme of the cars in the same type have different tyre makes - the 911s
for example, knowing what tyres to choose has always been part of the game to me

I was on D12s and hadn't had time to try anything else.

Most of the time the harder tyre takes away so much performance at the start of the race that they are not worth bothering with.

Must try to remember about Jag tyres in future.

I did not expected to have so much fun this one as i don't like both cars with right steering and fwd. It was hard to choose a car and i was going to drive the mini till Matt told me about this D9 tyres on the Jag. Tried several laps before the race and seemed not very different from D12 tyres so i chose the JAg. Had a big crash in the first laps but somehow came back on track and managed to finish but was a hard wrestle with the jag with thousants of mistakes and great chases .

D'oh, sorry, big apology to Matt, I thought he meant he'd taken a modern compound (that are left in the tyre selection sometimes), hadn't even seen another tyre available..sure I checked? or was it just one tyre on the 3.8?  Anyway, will shut my big gob, explains why Matt and others had good tyres left at end where as mine fell off a cliff f1 style  :'(

Ps..will also add that I typed my post race report after a couple of lunchtime pints so excuse my ranting. Have likewise just had further beers in the evening  and feeling more mellow, hope I didn't come across as an as*, though expect I did    sour grapes at dropping to 13th from 8th

After reading his post again I have to apologize to Legzy. I think I completely missed the point he made.
Which by the way reminds me of a promise I made to Matt to give him back his position of a previous race and apology. Sorry I forgot ! 
Maybe both gentlmen could find some compensation in my driving my car over the barrier in lap one of the next race?

Yeh was good fun for a few laps until I tried to go around the outside of you at the Gooseneck & ended up on the grass losing several places.

However it got a bit frustrating at times battling the Jags, After successfully disposing of one, you would catch the next one which would hold you up through the twisties & allow the one you thought had been dispatched to pass you on the straight & you would have to do it all again. Got easier near the end when the Jag's tyres were shot & there was more distance between them on the track. Had a good last few laps battling with Dan & Legzy, just managed to pip them both at the end.

lol dan & yeah Geoffers, was cracking stuff from my Jag & understood that it would have been mega frustrating/fun (in a twisted way ) in your faster mini, being trounced on the straights then having to drive round us in the corners. I still can't stop smiling, loved it. More!

We had some stunning corners across a few laps together where I was doing everything I could & I was gutted when it ended (too much time of me driving at 100% just to stick with him I fear), though I'm sure he was quite happy to loose the six ton dead weight holding him up
