THIS POST IS FOR BOTH GRIDS The second round of the Formula Two trophy will be on the Paptrus original track at Kyalami. Little to say about this track other than you must ensure that you have the Pit Wall in place. Those without the pit wall will risk disqualification. Advantage can be gained without it & drivers seen driving down the space where the pit wall should be excluded. The standard Papyrus track has a pit wall but there are patches available that remove it. The absence of a pit wall will not stop you from joining the race but anybody seen by the moderators miraculously driving through the pit wall on the server replay will risk disqualification. Follow these instructions to restore the wall if you have a mod that has removed it: METHOD 1: To place a wall between the pits and the track, rename or remove the kyalami.trk and kyalami.3do files from your kyalami folder. METHOD 2: To reinstall the original Papyrus Armco, rename or remove the Armco_s.mip file from your kyalami folder.[/ The series will be run on two separate grids; Group A (on UKGPL3) & Group B(onT7). Please ensure you join the correct race. Drivers have been allocated to the grids as below Group A Arf, Cookie, Dean Logan, Doni Yourth, Evil, Greg T, Marco, Natan, Fulvio, Badblood, Billy, Boggy, Il Lupo & New Blood RACE ON UKGPL3
Group B Phil Thornton, Piero Mercaldo, Rainier, Raoni, Robert Fleurke, Roberto Teso, Ronnie, Samb, Turkey Machine, Iestyn, Dave Curtis, Rog, Maddog, & Walter RACE ON UKGPL_T7
ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps. If you Reset on the last lap a 15 second time penalty will be awarded. Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score. Handicaps will not apply until Round 4 at the earliest. Race List = IGOR Group A Server = UKGPL3 IP = ukgpl3.dyndns.org Group B Server=UKGPL_T7_2 IP = 62.149.202.168 Race date = 02 February 2014 Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT) Track = Kyalami Race length = 28 Laps Variant = 1967 Formula 2 Damage Model = Intermediate Qualifying time = max. 30 minutes Password: see aboveReplays available hereGPL F2 Mod: The initial release of the F2 mod will be used. The mod can be found hereThe Driver list, Championship Table and series rules can be found here: Formula Two TrophyPlease restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line. Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated, the red zone will be from the start to the exit of the Barbeque Bend. . ANNOUNCEMENT
Gentlemen, Thanks for you patience with the late reorganisation of this series to run as two separate Grids. As explained it was not practical to have two viable grids divided by ability, so we have two equal Groups A & B & every driver who has signed up for the series is guaranteed a drive.
This will give us two F2 champions. At the end of the ten race series there will be a one off race to decide the Champion of Champions & also to sort out which is the better Group. Further details will be announced near the end of the season.

Having just done some practice, those records are going to tumble, particularly if you get a draft.

Thanks Bill Always used to have online leagueraces without the armco, as it is safer with more room. But have no problem with it's there, same for everyone. But please remember it's very tight, so be sure when a car is alongside to stay at the extreme left there. At the end of the armco the tarmac is tightening, so again heads up, especially after the start...it's very tight and it's very important to hold your lines... I'll knock on wood now so I don't curse myself Looking forward to this one, one of my favo tracks

Yeh, my 1:25 on race fuel is going to turn into race pace of 1:27 probably!

On track records - the GPL 1967 one must be a laggy/warp lap from s1. Hristo's Race record is a good one though. Kyalami should be fun in F2s! I can see why it's better to race without the armco (historically accurate), for space, but GPL comes with it in, so it is fair to race with it to ensure an even playing field. PS. The 'champion of champions' race is a nice championship development, and after all has been said and done, it's a good reason to have another race!

We were trying to tell you in qualy... My race ended up being a game of fuel consumption... it culminated in a reset on the last lap, so add 30 seconds and I am 7th rather than 4th. Still, live and learn...

Well, that didn't work too well. Personally, I guess it worked great though.
It's a shame Clive didn't make it back for the second attempt. We were setting up for a great race in the first one. Very nice job on the pole time. With a couple of minutes to go I started thinking I might get it. Clive was faster but it didn't look like he had the speed to get away from me in the race. I had an opportunity to slipstream past once on cold tires but didn't think it was wise that early in the race. Once the tires were up to temp, I'd have had to give it shot and I'm sure he'd have passed me on the main straight the next time.
I tried to ruin the second race for myself. I was pushing as hard as I could to try to open a gap on Marco so he couldn't slipstream off of me. Clipped the curb coming out the esses and spun it but that caused no car problems and luckily didn't appear to hinder anybody but me. I was driving better in the first race. I was pretty sloppy at times in the second race but had enough speed to keep the pressure on everybody else.
It was nice to get a win and get some more time in the BT23. Hopefully things will work better next time though. I'd rather have had Clive there and finished second. And if I beat him fair and square, I'd have really impressed myself.
Thanks for the fun guys. I appreciate it.

Had a good lap in quali without a tow and sat out practise. Roberto passed me on Lap 2 with better topspeed, and on Lap 3 I got caught out into Clubhouse Bend, and I have to avoid Roberto going on the grass, I stay at the left but Ronnie comes across and I end up in the armco. Back to P7. Car felt better in the righthanders, but worse in the lefthanders after that. Was more than 9s behind the leading duo Piero and Roberto, but after I got back up to P3, I was able to reel them in tenth after tenth. At a certain pont Piero crashed with Ronnie who seemed to hold up the leaders a bit, and I had closed up to about 3s. Got closer to Roberto, to about 1s but outbraked myself into Crowthorne Corner 2 laps from the end, locking up and I spun...Piero passed me and I had to settle for 3rd. Good points, but rather would have had a clean race Congrats Roberto, well deserved, and Piero, and thanks for racing all And congrats Greg and podium from div A.

Not a DQ Dean but you don't get any points. I could have ejected you but if you then had problems joining UKGPL3 that would have meant no racing. Did not want to do that to you. That is one of your two drops though.

Yup, I did the same Boggy, dropped back in to IGOR and the server still showed as populated with 12 cars. I had been ejected back to desktop and assumed that I had just experienced another freeze. I have had a couple lately, and until this moment was beginning to suspect a problem with my ISP, so at least it was a server issue and not my connection. On the other hand I was a bit miffed to have taken an early bath and missed out on yet another race after starting so well. I find with the F2's that a good setup works just about anywhere and on all of the FVA cars, except for the Protos which needs special attention ( and of course the BT14 and Fezza). So I rolled up at Kyalami with the Brab and a setup from a previous race. The gearing needed lengthening for the straight, but otherwise it all felt good. I put in a banker lap to get me up to 3rd on the grid and then set about settling myself in on race fuel. Gradually I dialled right into the track and pipped Axel for 2nd spot with a smooth clean lap that did not actually feel that fast. Hmmmmm maybe there is more in this setup. I was hoping to get a tow as I reckon that is worth a good 0.5 secs if you catch it right, but every time I caught up with another car they were slower through the corners and I actually lost time. I was happy enough with 2nd place and carried on lapping on race fuel feeling where the braking points were etc. I saw that the qually session was about to end and thought about parking it and relaxing before the start, but decided to just do one more lap and explore the limits of adhesion just a little more. I ran in clear air and with race fuel on board turned in a 1:21.6, which was a real suprise to me !! The start went well and I could see that Greg was biding his time and planning to use the draft when he got in position on the straight. My job was to make sure he never got "in position" . The first few laps were slippery on race fuel and cold tyres and numerous small mistakes kept the lap times down. I was just beginning to feel that things were warmed up and that I could really push and when Greg vanished from the mirrors at T2. For a moment I thought he had run wide and smiled, but then I noticed the "Q" bar growing and got a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach as i waited for the inevitable ...... and it happened 2 corners later, when night fell suddenly and I had no lights!!! It was shaping up to be a good dice with Greg and my car felt fast and stable, so I was looking forward to it, but.....................
