Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0h01m11s

Rainier gets sideways in Barbeque. Dave C takes the inside line. Dean is following & really left with nowhere to go. Racing Incident (Technically this could be ignored as Dean should not have been on Grid B.)

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h04m28s

Rob F is battling with Piero at Clubhouse. They both lose some ground going over opposite kerbs. Ronnie sees the opportunity for a double overtake down the middle. Rob does move right squeezing Ronnie's space. Nevertheless, Ronnie's manoeuvre was ambitious. Rob asked for any penalty to be waived.

Server replay time: 0h11m15s

Not a reported incident, but results in a Shift R for both drivers. Ronnie & Dave C. Ronnie overtakes DC at Crowthorne but at the expense of a wide line on the next straight. Ronnie is slightly ahead but he does cut across the corner hard at Barbeque leaving DC no space. Either driver could have avoided this incident & saved themselves a Stop & Go.

Server replay time: 0h33m49s

Pirero was lapping Ronnie. Both cars are on the outside edge of the main straight. Piero uses the draft to pass Ronnie but gets very tight before moving out of the slipstream. With the F2 draft he could have left more room - there was plenty of road ahead. At the same time RP lifts slightly on the gas. The combination caused the contact. The etiquette for drivers being lapped on the straight is to keep an stable line & ease off slightly. Neither driver did anything wrong but the combined actions resulted in contact.

Server replay time: 0h38m34s

Always appreciated when drivers write their own reports "Jethro forgets to fuel his car to go the distance, and despite attempts at conserving fuel, has to reset on the last lap. He does the reset in the pitlane (correct or not?), but finishes in 4th, however a last lap reset comes with a 30 second time penalty, demoting to 5th." For the record Shift R in the Pit Lane isn't always the best / correct strategy (it takes more time) - but no a problem as long as the respawn is safe.
Second correction - time penalty in this series is 15s.

on Lap 3 I got caught out into Clubhouse Bend, and I have to avoid Roberto going on the grass, I stay at the left but Ronnie comes across and I end up in the armco.

At a certain pont Piero crashed with Ronnie who seemed to hold up the leaders a bit,

Not exactly how it happened or looked on the replay I saw but sorry if you felt aggrieved Robert.

As for holding the leaders up a bit that's what backmarkers sometimes inadvertently do particularly when they are having their own race with someone. I stayed left on both occasions all the way down the straight and around turn 1 to allow anyone to slipstream past. Unfortunately no one went past although someone did try to go through me?

Anyway, apologies to Dave C for not realising you were still up my inside when I turned into you at turn 2 I think. My fault.

Always worth waiting a few minutes in iGOR if you are ejected without a screen freeze.

Oddly, everyone except me got ejected, including Joseph. That indicates that my house dropped off the internet for a short while because the server was fine. Apologies for that but it does happen occasionally.

Once again we had more than twenty racers so the two grid solution looks like staying in place.

As for the race itself. I had hoped to stay in front of Billy so that not everybody lapped me. Wasn't to be. Just not comfortable with these F2s. And, as Joseph said "Dad - you suck in F2s". Proud of what he is doing (if a bit miffed  Roll Eyes ).

At least one Whitfield can race these things.

I shouldn't be too terribly proud of Newblood, Paul.  I"ll be filing incident reports...yes, that's plural...over one of the least skilful and pathetic drives I've ever had the misfortune to witness(let alone be savaged by).  Sad

This kinda crap has got to stop!

I had a good race. I only made one major mistake. I should have slowed down more when I passed a spun car. I recovered from that unscathed, and I had a lot of fun trying to stay in front of (a faster) Ronnie. I thought that our battle would have escalated when the leaders lapped us, but instead, it gave me some breathing room. My confidence level is a little closer to where it needs to be (in the F2's). Good race, Walter

No problem Robert. My comment was in no way made to deter you from making a report. In my opinion people should deal with these things as they see fit and move on. Good luck.

Really enjoyed the tussle myself Walter but I appreciate the leaders were a little frustrated and less happy by my apparent reluctance to give up the chase. Welll done mate.

Very impressive times in div. B! Were those times without a slipstream? I was never able to break into the 1:21s even though my ideal lap time in pribluda was almost identical to Clive's initial pole time of 1:21.6X. I actually set my fastest lap of the day in the first race attempt while tailing Clive, 1:22.03. I was wondering how far he'd drag me into the 1:21's. I've found that I can cut into my lap times significantly in the F2 cars when tailing a faster driver.

On the other hand I was a bit miffed to have taken an early bath and missed out on yet another race after starting so well.

I was miffed too. Mainly because my victory would have been due to your disco.

I find with the F2's that a good setup works just about anywhere.

Yep, I used a Sachsenring setup I developed during the week that was based on my Zandvoort setup.

parking it and relaxing before the start,

Just what I did. I was very pleased that I got out early and ran some smooth laps. I was going to be satisfied with anything under 1:22.3. I like to relax at least a couple of minutes prior to the race starting. I actually had enough time to grab a bite to eat, top off my drink, and relieve myself. I couldn't have asked for more. Smiley

The start went well and I could see that Greg was biding his time and planning to use the draft when he got in position on the straight. My job was to make sure he never got "in position" Wink.

It may have been difficult to keep me out of position. When I got through the esses well, I seemed to be particularly strong in the third sector all afternoon. Something I was going to need to have a chance at slipstreaming.

The first few laps were slippery on race fuel and cold tyres and numerous small mistakes kept the lap times down. I was just beginning to feel that things were warmed up and that I could really push and when Greg vanished from the mirrors at T2. For a moment I thought he had run wide and smiled, but then I noticed the "Q" bar growing and got a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach as i waited for the inevitable  Undecided...... and it happened 2 corners later, when night fell suddenly and I had no lights!!!

It was shaping up to be a good dice with Greg and my car felt fast and stable, so I was looking forward to it, but.....................

Your car started flickering just as you turned into BBQ Bend. I slowed a lot and exited the Bend on the right side of the track worrying we'd warp into each other. Your car never reappeared. I didn't smile. I was disappointed that it appeared you had been disconnected. I was booted just like you, two turns later.

My car felt good too. I was surprised I beat my qualifying time on lap 3 considering I wasn't pushing very hard and I was braking a little early to make sure we had plenty of space between each other. I was looking forward to the rest of the race too. I already had it in my mind that the only chance of beating you would have been to pass you before entering turn 1 on the last lap and then hoping I could drive the rest of the lap cleanly. I tried a few times practicing to follow a car out of the last sharp turn and slipstream by before the finish line. It never worked.

I hope I see you on the track again in the future when you're not lapping me. If I do, I know it's because I'm having a good drive. Take care Clive.

Mr Cattini,
from the first time I personally had the occasion to race with you, sincerely,
I felt that there's some problem with your behaviors, at least in track and races.

As I don't like to live in past and do not want exhume deaths, I speak about
yesterday final part of the race, in that circumstance I was a pair of seconds
behind Piero so I have witnessed all.

You was neraly one lap back of us but you stay in normal race line without
leaving room to us to pass without risk, and this not for some bend but a lot
more, so much that you made me lose a lot of time only to lessen the risk to be
sunk by you, and, finally, causing the incident with Piero, because you clearly
lift gas at the Kink (server time 33'49") with Piero immediately back of you
when you have had all the time to give him room to pass.

I understand that is not easy to leave pass but others, a lot less experienced,
graphomaniacs and crybabies than you, have been able to do without any problems,
for themself and others.

So, what I feel and what I think is that you have to grow, become adult,
conscious and aware of what happens on the track around you.

To be fast without competence is only a childish behavior and unjustifiable,
seems to me that you are thinking to race alone against all.

As ever, apologies are useless, not because I don't like, but because they prove
that you learned nothing from yourself errors and, indeed, seem to be an
additional damage.

Like a scratched record, you continue undaunted to repeat the same phrase,
mercy mercy me indefinitely, but like the turntable, you understand nothing
about what you say and never do nothing to improve.

I've done a 21.1 in training in the M4A, close to unofficial WR, in Practise reproduced that without a tow. Car was slightly damaged in race, I'm pretty sure with a good car and tow I could have done 20s in the end in a clean lap. Ran alone in most of the race and when I got a tow I messed up the lap...

Doni, your comment on my driving, in my opinion, was rather rude and, I think, unjustified. I've taken a look at the two incidents.

The first, you make the pass before t1, and then you cut back back in too early and as I take my normal line, your car turns without any apparent contact. This is seemingly down to you as you were not careful to complete the overtake.

The second incident, I admit, was probably my fault, yet I kept very close to my side of the track whilst trying to make the pass and the car simply slid wide into yours.

mercy mercy me indefinitely, but like the turntable, you understand nothing

I'm not sure I understand everything you have to say Roberto but I think I get the gist, you don't like me. I shall refrain from responding to your personal insults here and also for that matter Piero's colourful comments in chat after the race.

A brief description of how I saw the lapping incident is somewhere above so I will not elaborate further. But what I would say is that if you, Piero or anyone else think I did not leave Piero room and/or deliberately brake tested him to cause an incident then report it.

I have to say I find your comments regarding the respect and care that should be accorded to the leaders by those who are not contesting the same lead a little hypocritical. There was a time when I agreed totally with this attitude myself but was forced to question this position. I note the general topic of lapping behaviour has been discussed elsewhere this season with contrasting views by those lapping and being lapped. I'm sure your views will be taken into account.

As for apologising when I have been involved in an incident whether I feel I have been at fault or not, I will continue to do so. Your not the first person to question my sincerity and maybe you won't be the last. I'm not offended when people refuse to accept them, its a free world. We all make mistakes at some time Roberto, even you. Okay I get it you hate it I don't. But just because you don't does not mean I can't, get over it.

One last comment on your first comment. You seem to have made your mind up pretty quickly about me from when we first started racing. Your entitled to your opinion but for myself I am quite happy with my gradual improvement in performance, behaviour and dare I say it contribution from the side lines here at UKGPL. As for yourself, leaving this season aside, I seem to remember racing with you from as early as the now defunct PSC up to last season in the old F2 single championship. Its a shame those two series have fallen by the wayside for now, but I'm sure you have more to contribute here at UKGPL.

Please feel free to respond anyway you wish but forgive me if I don't. Time to try and move on.

Gentleman,
You have each made your point & the forum is open to all drivers to comment, provided the language & tone meets the standards expected by UKGPL.

If there are specific incidents then we have a system for filing reports which will be reviewed by the moderators.

I'd prefer if this race thread does not descend into a long dispute.

Thanks.
