Have Xd working OK but how do I change to imperial measurements please?

Also I assume that we only have the one GTL installation on Steam Apps or is it possible to copy, and use the copy, leaving original copy as a Master Copy in case of Problems.

Find XD.ini in your main GTL folder. Open it with Notepad. Look for MeasurementUnits and change value to 0 (1 = Metric)

Thanks Tony Xd sorted.  Just the password to find - what is our server IP I could try that if you've not found the solution?

Don't think you need a server IP Bill

If your using the Steam digital download they should have given you the online code. If your using the GTLDK GTL then I don't think they have one?

EDIT: The on-line key is stored in the registry. Run regedit and look for HKEY local machine - software - 10tacle studios - GTL - keys and this should contain your on-line key.

Thanks Tony, unfortunately I can not see  10tacle studios in the list of HKEY local machine - software.

Any other suggestions.  Been into Steam and have not been able to find any information there on my on-line key - only the product key which has far too many characters to fit in the password box (14 characters long).

Yes I'm using the digital download from Steam but only password/code I received was the one for the software registration which I was never called upon to use.  Sorry for all the hassle but I'm getting extremely frustrated, as I expect you are.

Logging out and switching off PC spent too many hours on it and I'm getting well into negative brownie points.  Wink

Thanks Tony, Matt and Tudor I had a Eureka Moment early this morning, spent so much time logging into the free German Server that I completely forgot we have passwords for getting onto our server. (When I said normal SROU password didn't work I had tried my forum log in which I used since computer went tits up on our various Pads and naturally came to mind when password requested to log on to Monday nights server.)

Just logged on OK this morning but the car is shown as Elite but that then gives car no available. I've spent too long trying to sort out GTL from scratch and carried on like a dog with a bone for too long – need a complete break from GTL to clear my mind.  Will check in tonight to see all works OK but won't race but have early night.

Had so many attempts to register GTL On Line that I finally am registered as Will Thomas - Will short for William hence simply Bill previously, tried so many Bill Thomas variations I eventually went to Will Thomas for change.  Grin

Having got GTL working on our Server now have a few queries on "nice to have" preferences:

  1.  When I used Steam back in my XP days, I was shown how to remove Steam from the Start UP folder so it no longer started and ran in background.  Can't see how to do this in Win 7 Prof. (Did have problems on XP of Steam cutting in on during a race with fatal     results.)

  2.  With the "mirror" an option in cycling through was called Virtual Mirror which is a large mirror which gives large view which with my tendency to be lapped I find extremely useful - is it still available on the Steam GTL version?

  3.  Also on the GTLDK version the little box which shows witch gear the car is in could be cycled through to give Tacho on the bottom right which I found extremely useful when there is no rev limiter light available of the car dashboard as on the Lotus Cortina - more          importantly being analogue you don't actually need to read it just know roughly where the needle is relative to the start of the tacho red line.

I think I killed steam on startup, the other things I have not yet got working. I have installed XD and get some info
but I don't get the gear indicator (though I might just have it turned off as I don't use it.) I do get health and tyre wear now, but I
don't get the top right timer or correct number of laps, sometimes the race finishes and I had no idea it was about to
and I don't get any onfo about who is in front or behind. If I figure it (I have spent only 2 minutes trying to fix it so far)
I will post results. I initially had to use the side mirrors, I think I might have got the virtual one working, I will have a
look tonight.

Both Virtual Mirror and gear indicator are selectable in game through the Options menu. Also in cockpit view the "2" key toggles through the HUD display options e.g. All dials, minimal dials, no dials.

Virtual Mirror needs a "1" instead of "0" in the box in the PRL file.  Now have it working.

Looked in PRL but couldn't get HUD display options working at a quick look see.  However, I had now switched on the PRL "dials" so have tacho on the dashboard working instead.

Have Xd sorted OK but still can't see how to kill Steam on start up.  I suppose I could take the nuclear option and un install in through the Control Panel Option but thought that a bit drastic at the moment.

Help in just stopping it loading is the ideal.

Can you see a GTL.exe file? If you can try double clicking that.
