Server replay time: 0h10m55s

Tommie has been chasing Greg for a while and thinks of a pass but backs out. Mr Taber's car takes off but there is a clear gap between the cars and Tommie has clearly braked earlier than Greg to back out. This is the collision box getting too enthusiatic.

Neither driver does anything wrong.

@Robert: use a separate profile for 60fps vs 36fps. There are known issues if you join a server with a mismatch.

Do you mean I have to make another player profile? I have all mods under one player, and I thought the client will use the server settings!? I prefer to keep one player profile and one GPL install, otherwise it's going to be such a mess...

Also it's random, sometimes during races I have periods of stuttering and then it's going away, I hoped it would be like that yesterday...sometimes no probs at all...

Seems like lately I have lot of malware, trojans, VBS script virii and exploits on my system...and yes I'm still on XP with no money for a new computer, right now...will look for another antivirusprogram, and reinstall my OS...

Sorry for being off-topic...

Make sure you set the detail slider to a lower setting. In the lowest setting, cars appear uglier than ugly but are extremely light on fps in that case. Probably the intermittent fps drops are due to a car appearing/disappearing, either in front of you or in your mirrors.

Thanks Tommie, but that isn't the problem. I use to run mostly at about 60-65%, and as I said I run 60FPS at Ghog. It seems to be random, and related to my system, this stuttering.

Like my system is being exploited, always use end-it-all to stop scheduled update programs and such before racing...At Borovaya it was my videocard, and since then I have fixed that problem...still the stuttering returns now and then, as I said, like it's random...nothing to do with graphic detail or tracks that ask more of your system AFAIK...like last Saturday at Monza I had stuttering on Lap 1, and at Stardust 36FPS all the way, same settings...

Thanks for thinking with me, I'll open a new thread under GPL, or ask on SRMZ, and will look on the internet for solutions...first need to reinstall OS...happily I have GPL on an other partition Wink

PS: just thinking, I have a solid virtual memory file on the same partition as GPL, maybe that's the prob!?

Cheers  Smiley

Robert it is essential to know where the bottleneck of a system is.

I use the Open Hardware Monitor to see what happens during a GPL session by monitoring the clocks and the load of CPU and GPU.

Before a race I have settings profiles of the Graphics Software. For 36fps Vsync off and for 60fps Vsync on.

My main problem was that the ATI software does not recognize GPL as a 3D program and the GPU idled...

I agree with Cookie, it looks as when the system doesn't need to run 100 %, it switches to power saving mode or something. Certainly, Stardust is much harder on fps so it's odd to get 36 fps there but not at Monza, which is lighter.

You do NOT pick up the server settings since the 60 fps patch is local. You would have to re-patch in GEM. If you are joining a 36fps race with 60 fps you will have more stutter than King George VI...

You could have two separate GPL installations - it is a bit of a pain because you have to install the tracks twice etc etc but having two player profiles would help. Otherwise you will have to re-patch GPL each time you swap between 36 and 60fps.

As for the OS you could use a Linux distro (which is free) and run GPL under the Windows emulator WINE. I know several people have done it although I have not myself. I put Ubuntu on an old laptop and it gave it new life!

It seems that I have joined 67 Works races here with the 60fpsv2 patched gplc67.exe I suppose...will look into it further and go to the bottom of it...I have once raced 65 in 60fps, a couple of times hosted F2 at 60fps, and offline sometimes I test at 60fps (67)...

I always re-patch the gpl*.exe's after closing GEM.

The only question I have the stuttering seems to be at random, and no consistency in it...that's why I was thinking some background program or virtual memory was coming into play...

Will look into an alternative OS as well.

You can't join a 36fps server with 60fpsV2newmod as it will tell you you are not allowed to join Wink
Only 60fpsV1 was allowing this, so brr made 60fpsV2 patch.

Yeah, I am dreaming too of a Linux with GPL but there are still not all problems solved Roll Eyes
FFB is not properly supported yet, I found this http://askubuntu.com/questions/281698/logitech-g25-racing-wheel

For 36fps Vsync off and for 60fps Vsync on.

I also turn off triple buffering at 36fps and use it with 60fps. If I turn on the vsync at 36fps, my computer wants to run GPL at 30fps, exactly half the 60Hz native refresh rate of the HDTV. Robert, I use pribluda and display the fps while driving. If you're seeing fps above 37 while on the UKGPL server you're definitely patched for 60 fps. I don't change anything expect patching the exe via GEM and changing these values to match the server

net_mdm_client_send_every = 3               ; Client packet freq on dialup
net_mdm_client_send_size = 84               ; Client packet size on dialup
net_mdm_server_send_every = 3               ; Server packet freq on dialup
net_mdm_server_send_size = 384              ; Server packet size on dialup

when I switch between 36fps and 60fps.

Actually I change more but it is the anisotrophic filtering and anti-aliasing because my computer isn't quite enough to run 60fps unless I scale back on the graphics.

You don't need to change those. The server settings override yours (in iGOR, at least).

Guys, thanks for all your help. I think I found the culprit, at Brands it was my videocard not getting sufficient power. I solved that. My CPU ran 60+C when in idle mode, and 65+C when running GPL, with help of Axel's Hardware Monitor suggestion.

Did clean up system hardware, especially cooler, that was full of dust and smoke residue. After a test with all details on in GPL it ran maximum 50,5C. So it seems my CPU went in safe mode running GPL, when the temps got too high. No wonder I got all this stuttering...still need to buy some coolpasta and reinstall cooler again, to have better cooling, and need to check temps and clean up my house and smoke a bit less angel

Again, I'm thankful to be able to race with such a great bunch of guys, and thanks for all the suggestions and your patience with me, it's really appreciated! Smiley
