This track was meant for these cars and is wide enough to allow some close side by side racing. Sweeping curves, elevation changes and some nasty off camber corners will require some delicate footwork on the pedals, so again I have added some horsepower to the Lights options. A single Shift R is allowed but no SnG is required. Race List = IGOR Server = TBA IP address =TBA Race date = 07-3-2014 Race time = Race 1 starts at 21:05 UK timeQualifying time = minimum 15 minutes, starting no later than 20:45 UK timeTrack = SolitudeVariant = GT (7 laps) and Can Am (9 laps) Damage Model = INT Race length = see above Password: see above Replays Available here Heavies Lights GTs Free Choice Ford GT Mk 4 and MirageCan Am Free Choice Porsche 917, Ferrari 712 Red zone will be to the exit of .......... Is this the track with the (multiple) opportunities to crash into the woods at high speed, or the one where ending up in a field is likely?
Or either?! Anyway, hopefully I'll be allowed a quick recce later...

That was a wild one! I didn't really want to take a position from Sergio on the start but I didn't know what was behind me so I was afraid to brake any earlier than necessary. I was hoping Sergio would see me on the inside and give me room. I've got to get better keeping track on where the cars behind me are on the start. That was a pretty tough race. I held Sergio off for a couple laps near the end only to blow it on the last lap.
I never got adjusted to the 712. Overcooked it early and spun ripping my wheel off. Then I got discoed shortly after that, so I didn't get much joy out of the Can Am race.
Congrats to Mark, Axel, and Sergio!

GT race : first lap and first corner, accident between 2 or 3 drivers in front of me, I slowed down and was able to avoid a collision with them ...but, once again, another driver rear ended me. always the same story Then I had no more motivation to continue the race and to start the next one with Canam cars. I think there are more chance to survive in such conditions when you accelerate instead of slow down... I will try that next time !

There is more than just luck to avoiding these big accidents David. Something between your 2 suggestions seems best. Slow too much and you will be hit. Ignore the problem and things usually get worse. Evidence suggests last night's big crash, was caused by a driver, using a FOV of 50. This is unsafe. I often escape these pileups with quick thinking, and a default FOV. It's what nature intended.

I know that what I'm saying is not appreciated by many but for me...a Rolling Start is the right way to approach these races.
About the 50 deg FOV that I usually use since 4 years I can say that I can switch in and off from that FOV by pressing a button on my drive wheel and especially during starts I use the default FOV. Anyway also in 50 deg FOV I have the rear view mirror well in sight (because I've moved the virtual mirror in a suitable place).
