Moderator's Report

Pretty clean

Server replay time: 0h00m57s

Phil is a bit wobbly on cold tyres. As he wobbles left he leaves David nowhere to go but David could have been a bit more cautious seeing Phil's poor start. Neither did anything wrong and luckily they could continue with no-one else affected.

Server replay time: 0h02m07s

Martin gets wobbly on the brakes - nobody else is affected.

Server replay time: 0h07m31s

Dave is caught out by just how slow the Honda is through the corner. No excuse though!

I know there has been discussion elsewhere about running/repeated running beyond white lines particularly at a couple of specific tracks.

Just to clarify something here;  what's the deal when it comes to racing down the pitlane?   Acceptable,  but potentially with the risk of a bad rejoin if an event takes place?  How about repeatedly?

Similarly,  what about using pitlane from the start of the race & using advantage for multiple direct overtakes  (& then another couple due to associated better positioning for T1?)    Just a bit cheeky & good luck if nothing bad happens,  or is it as socially unacceptable as queue-jumping?!    (in the UK of course!)

Admittedly this race was NOT at in the UK,  in which case a muted "tut" & a single slow shake of the head would typically suffice Smiley

Oh & I already know the deal with a junior member running into the back of a senior team member.  Apologies again DR.

Cheers,
Dave.

I use W7 64 with MS security Essentials, Superantispyware and Malwarebytes but in all the years that I've been on UKGPL I haven't previously encountered this particular problem.
I've had a look on SRMZ but couldn't find anything relevant. The message I got on closing GPL was 'GPL has stopped working'  which isn't particularly helpful.

I'll see if I can find something Michael and let you know.

@DC - using the pit lane to get an advantage - hmm. Puts you in a rejoin situation but if you are careful.... If it lessened the length of the lap (which isn't the case here) it would be a big no no (e.g. Silverstone)

Sorry to hear about the troubles Michael and Billy

Thanks everyone for the race! I really enjoyed it. I started in fifth, and I fell back to seventh place rather quickly. I was looking for a place to overtake, and I locked the brakes going into the hairpin. I did a half spin, and I cringed as I watched cars fly past just inches away. I somewhat recovered, and applied pressure to the car in front. Unfortunately, the car that I was chasing and I had a coming together with a lapped car. I was the lucky one from the accident, and lost the least amount of time. Afterwards, I was pretty far back from my nearest competitor, but due to their misfortunes, I moved as high as 2nd place (without doing any overtaking on track). I made a huge error with five laps to go, and I drove off of the bridge. I dropped about 10 feet, but I was able to find my way back to the track. That put me just behind Phil, and I had a great time chasing him until the checkered flag flew! Good race, I am thrilled to have come home in fourth place. Congrats to our Winner Jonny!

See you next time,   Smiley

Sorry to hear about your problems Michael - not that it's any consolation. I wondered why you were repeatedly connecting and disconnecting.

At least that confirms that connecting wasn't the problem. So the question remains as to why the game would launch offline but not online and why only with this track/server. Hopefully the problem will have resolved itself before the next race.

Another frustrating evening and a new problem. censored
I got the IP address from IGOR (95.114.12.154) and logged on to the race via Multiplayer successfully with the launch screen showing the correct race details (33 laps etc) but also showing Opponents: 0 and Practice Remaining 45 minutes.
At this point the screen froze and became unresponsive and I had to quit via Task Manager. Repeated attempts produced the same result.
I had no problems starting a race offline at this circuit so I'm satisfied that the track is installed correctly.

Any suggestions as to what might be causing this?

Hi Micheal sorry you missed the race , have you tried here http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=3714 would also make sure your using the correct rasteriser ?

My own race was a complete disaster and hardly worth mentioning except to say I seem to be going from bad to worse  Roll Eyes

Hope my mobile chicane didn't cause the lappers too many problems . Felt I should quit at one point after I blew the engine trying to scrape a bit more speed out of my hastily & poorly prepared Brabham

Grats to Johnny O and the podium well done to all the other straglers who made it across the finish line

Michael why didn't you try to connect in the pre race practices?

I had the suspicion that my server settings could have caused a mismatch of BW...
But there are others who joined via IP and had no problems, as I run them for a while now:Smiley

Run the gplinspect.exe to find any hooks Wink

My race was ended by the difference of FOV 78 to 94 Embarrassed

Hi Axel
I ran GPLinspect which flags in red the GPL CPU fix with 'You might have applied no GPL CPU fix' I'm not sure whether this is relevant.
Regarding BW, I have a 60MB  cable connection - again I'm not sure if this is relevant. Obviously it must be something to do with my set up as no one else seems to have had a problem.

It sounds like GPL is not properly patched, you're running prolly version 1.2.0.1. Patching with 1.2.0.2 or 1.3 (for longer tracks like Targa) should fix your problem Wink

Easiest way would to use the 1.04 installer I think as there are so many dead links sadly...

Hi
The version I have is ' 1.2.0.2 Non US Version. Latest version found' so presumably that is OK. Thanks for the link - I've downloaded the installer  in case a fresh installation proves to be necessary.

I decided to join those with technical issues, when my headphones stopped working, just before the race.  Switched to speakers.

It rapidly became clear I was not going to be in the Hunt, while I was in the Coop. and soon took my rightful place as lead straggler, with the only entertainment coming midrace, while trying to fend off a recovering duo.  I failed.

A brief half spin led to a bigger problem.  My recovery put me exactly alongside Cookies car, and the rapidly rigged speakers failed to let me know.  Big apology owed to an upturned Brabham.  And yes, the track behind looked clear from a default FOV.

In honour of Cookie, after resetting, I cooked my new tyres, then realised I'd not stop & go'd, and departed in disgust!
