My first win

Impressions later, an answer to Mark about setup:

Beemer have heavy engine right above front axle ... by lifting front end, you make mass transfer slower and less "in front of the car" ... other way would be by using stiffer springs but not on this racetrack.

Well done Ed.  Congratulations.

Well done and many thanks also to Erik.  Hope you can recover from last nights exertions in under your one week prediction.

Well done also to Jarda for third.  I was hoping to put up more of a fight for the last spot on the podium but my technique in the slow corners just wasn't up to it.  Once you were past there wasn't much that I could do but I sure as hell tried!

I made a good start and slotted into third from the off and had Geoffers all over me for a few laps before he binned it at the final corner.  I thought that he was just going for an early bath to get a good car for the next round but I see that he did have some damage.   Grin

I had MJ about six seconds behind and all was stable for a while but then I noticed that Jarda had managed to move up to fourth and was closing me down. I messed up the second corner about five laps from the end and he was able to pass going in to the right-hander at the end of the straight.

Good race that, nice combo with a great car and a great track.  Cool
First time I've used the beemers in anger so had a big learning curve of new track and new car. Never did get it handling or setup how I'd like but still managed reasonable pace.
Quailed 6th.
Had a poor start when everyone started moving and I hadn't even seen the lights yet! That dropped me two places on a track that's hard to overtake on.
Chased Matt and Jarda for a few laps. Matt fell off, and I had a great close battle with Jarda for several laps, passing him twice.
I then chased hard after Clive and Geoffers who had 10+ sec gap. Geoffers then parked up for a tea in pit lane so I closed Clive. With Jarda breathing down my neck I span out of the hairpin when the car spat me around though wasn't sure if I got a helping hand off Jarda?
Then had to close a 12 sec gap down to Clive and Jarda which took me until lap 19 to get them both within sight a few secs ahead but then, trying too hard and on a very worn front left tyre I ran wide at T1 and lost about 15 seconds and all my will power  Sad
Cruised around on my own last 3 laps to finish 5th.

Congrats Ed on the win and the podium guys Smiley

Yeh, damage as in 0% engine health!  Roll Eyes Just got a back wheel on the grass & around it went, across the pitlane into the barriers.

Have to say I didn't enjoy this circuit, too much abrupt changes of incline. Watching the video Mark posted earlier the track had some lovely sweeping corners with lovely gradients, whereas the virtual track has abrupt dips & jumps. Bit too rallycross for me!
