UKGTR SEASON 19 UPPER SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP  - ROUND 6

All members welcome

Practice 1: 20:00 BST (10 mins)
Qual 2:       20:10 BST (20 mins)
Race:          20:30 BST (~ 40 mins) - note: no warm up!

Cars allowed: Any GT1 from the UKGTR car pack v2.16.0.0
Track: Silverstone 2011 Download and install this
Race Start Time: 14:00

Weather: Dry

Tyre wear: x2.
Fuel consumption: x2.
Pit Stops: You must make a minimum of one pit stop during which you must take on at least 1 litre of fuel and/or change at least two tyres. You cannot take a mandatory stop at the end of the pace lap, or with less than 1 lap to go.

Server: simracing.org.uk GT1
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) Please make sure you are fully aware of the UKGTR Rules - especially the speed limiter starting procedure and the rules about in-game chat messages.
(2) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
(3) You will not be able to join the server without the car physics pack and track (see links above).
(4) Drivers may only change car once in the season without penalty.
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of everyone's connection will be reduced.
(6) Please use the Driver Details page to ensure that the league management software has your correct GTR2 'Driving Name' (not necessarily the same as your lobby name).
(7) The server will be set to 26 slots, not 28.

Very good race that tonight.
I was off pace in qually & with just seconds to go leaped from 5th to 3rd, at least giving me a chance to hassle pole sitter TT & title rival Apex.
Apex was struggling with tyres early on I guess & was missing every Apex (no pun intended & BTW, sorry about the kiss Embarrassed), it still took me a couple of laps to pass. TT was 2.5 secs clear already but I was able to real him in after only a couple more laps, but could I pass, could I even get to a position where i could look at a pass... no chance, so decided to pit very early for a splash & dash, as I could feel I was bleeding time I'd need later.
As expected I had gained a nice little 14 second advantage after TT & Apex had pitted, but by now my tyres were gone & the advantage just evaporated way too easily.
TT caught me with 5 laps still to go & was past easily, Apex was on me a lap later (at about the time NSFast surrendered the lead as he finally pitted).  I just tried to stay to the inside line & make as good exits as I could. It worked up until the last corner on the penultimate lap, when I span myself & had to flash a deserving/patient Apex through.

Wish I'd changed tyres! Angry Wink

Congrats to TT & Apex on the podium & great to see Spanner making a comeback Cool (hopefully H@L will soon too Tongue)

& the Championship winning driver is .....  is a bit too confusing to work out for sure! laugh

@Legzy: in first part I was trying to save fuel and see if I could get away with one tank, so was not really pushing and would just push before the big straight to keep you behind. But you pitted. Decided no fuel was not an option and took 10 litres with new tyres. Could and really did push now and was confident as I think MC12 is fastest through those corners on this track. If race was 1 lap shorter I think it would be more interesting with more close driving. Taking care of fuel was the thing that took out the edge of it and was too short to get us close together again. Pushing after pitting took my tyres apart and was losing time towards the end. Anything could happen with a few more laps. Undecided

Well, grats to the winner of the Championship, whoever he may be. Grin Thanks all for racing.
