Quite an eventful race.  Got caught up in a shunt at T1 on L1.  I saw the incident develop ahead and I was working out how to navigate round the debris when I was hit from behind.  I suspect the guys behind me were unsighted and consequently were not able to anticipate the developing situation.  I managed to get going without a shift-R but I wasn't so lucky on my next lap when Billy bounced into me off the armco.  It wasn't much of a hit but it killed my engine (which was probably weakened by the lap 1 shunt) so I had to use up my shift-R lifeline.  By the time I had taken my S&G I was at the back but had a great battle with David and Marco.  I was confused by a flying Matra on lap 18 (ish).  There were no blue flags and nothing on Pribluda.  I think it was Iestyn who must have been dropped by the server.  I assume we were racing for position because the leaders were still a mile from lapping me (Iestyn is fast but I can't believe he was a mile ahead of Robert and Roberto).

The last lap was very close.  Marco passed me into the hairpin and I had to push very hard to stay in touch through the twisty bits.  I was on his tail into the last corner and thankfully he went a bit wide and had to scrub off some speed.  That gave me a chance, stay tight and get the power down early.  I just managed to sneak ahead and get to the line a mere car length ahead of Marco.  Good racing Grin

Difficult quali with some bad traffic, but had a reasonable lap for P2. After start a lot of warp, let Roberto go, and Piero and Clive close behind. Was able to follow RT and we gained some advantage to Piero. After halfway Roberto spun out of the hairpin, and I could pass him left, with a little notch. From there on it was basically keeping focus and bring it to the finish. Lucky win.

Some guys were faster and some had about the same pace as me, just got lucky when Roberto spun, wouldn't have been able to pass him I think, he was really good in the 2nd part of the track.

Was fun to have a fuller grid, grid B rules though P1-P4, well done Tongue Also congrats to Dean for his grid A result! Smiley

Like to dedicate this win to my grandma who died yesterday, 98y old.

Very early beer for me.  Nearly made it as far as completing the 2nd lap...   On a positive note,   at least my PC boots now/did not crash once I was back at the game screens;  unlike the last couple of events.

Although I'd eased off for the L1T1 issues;  was not until I got there that I realised it slightly resembled a carpark.  So that was the reset used up there.

Then I'd been keen to signal my intention to pull into the pit lane, that I had not noticed the entrance has clearly moved/forgot to turn,  so that was the spare car wrecked on the pit wall.  I guess that probably also caught teamie Billy out too;  if so - apologies.

Oh well, lucky I hadn't wasted any time practicing.  Disappointed to not have managed to at least pass 50% distance though.

Woo - go group B!  (although you are all a bunch of ringers;  same with group A too!)

Cheers,
Dave.

Well, I created a moderator nightmare here by inadvertently 'doing a Lewis (Spa 2008)' and taking avoiding action around the tyres at T2 Embarrassed. I was side-by-side with Natan through the braking zone, and felt he was still alongside. Looking back I could have tried to do T2 possibly two-wide (remembering the three-wide action on the exit there in the Works!). I then waited a little, so we were side-by-side into T3 and I got ahead at T4. Natan said 'NP' after the race, but GPL took exception and DQ'd me. I also joined with 60 fps on inadvertently at first so that's why my name appears twice. Undecided

In the later laps, I managed to get down to a 1:48.47, with best sectors giving 1:47.9, although that gains 3 tenths with a slipstream in S1. And my gears were still too long, with a 9/31 rack. So, perhaps I can compete near the front when I get a decent setup together. I'll have to check the replay to know who I was racing after the DQ. Too many spins after that put paid to my efforts to catch Jethro and Arf; I was ahead of Clive and other recovering drivers from the T1 crash at the time I first span. Rob - congratulations, well driven and a nice tribute to your grandma. Looks like you'll be outliving us all then, possibly getting to 100!  Tongue

Looks like Iestyn is the culprit of that one, as it was two entries according to GPL.

As for me, quiet race by comparison, but let Arf and Evil through when I made a mistake, and could not reel them in for trying. I despise this place, so am glad to be rid of it for now.

BTW: seems to be a non-championship event according to the championship?

True Jethro, but with there being 19 slots taken (including server) there should have been one free. Also I think my error slot could have been overwritten by a late joiner if it wasn't being used (and server had 20 slots used, 19 drivers including server slot).
