Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0h01m45s

Still on red zone, Iestyn holds a wide line, Fransesco is entitled to try to pass him inside, but has too much speed or brakes too late and runs wide into Iestyn.

Marginal Side by Side contact

Server replay time: 0h09m45s

Arf reported an incident when Axel rejoin the track but from my point of view (+ another moderator) Axel did his best and there was no contact.

Arf vs Francesco Molteni

Arf was braking too late but did all what he could to avoid to hit Fran's car. The two cars did not collided but there was warp ...

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h14m43s

Fran goes off first on the inside and rejoins track left. Doni goes wide and off and rejoins track rightside. Fran goes slightly to the right and Doni to the left rejoining. Fran could have known Doni was there and could have stayed left.
Doni could have waited a bit longer to rejoin.

Server replay time: 0h17m30s

At the end of the long straight, Francesco completely loose control and violently hit Arf's car. Fran couldn't do anything.

The 8th round of the season 26 Historics championship (mod66) will be in Reims (France).
Reims is basically several long straights with a couple of hairpins and a few cornfields. Catching a tow is what this track is about. It normally produces close racing.
Reims-Gueux was first established in 1926 on the public roads between the small French villages of Thillois and Gueux. The circuit had two very long straights between the towns, and teams strove to maximize straight-line speed of their cars; many slipstream battles ensued. Race organizers actually felled trees and demolished old houses in order to make the circuit even quicker. International racing came with the first official Formula One event occurring in 1950, the inaugural year of the Formula One world championship. The circuit layout was shortened and changed in 1952 to bypass the town

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

The race will be run under PRO rules so no resets are allowed.

For THIS RACE, 3 liters car must be selected

All drivers have free choice (3 liters cars only) except the 2 leaders due to their thirty point margin over the next driver
Tristan BOT will be restricted to Group 1 cars :
T1G Eagle Weslake or Mclaren M2B Ford
EVIL Clive will be restricted to Group 2 cars :
BRM P83 or Lotus 43 BRM

Had a good lap 1 but then unravelled from there. Could not get any quicker in qualifying, and ideally in the race needed to lengthen 6th a notch in order to escape the rev limiter.

Sorry Arf Arf,i think to have pushed the brake in the same way but the car is skidding on the right into the grass.Impossible to avoid the impact.I'm sorry to have ruined your race and also mine at few meter from the end of 9th lap that mean point.I have not understood why the car this time have had a so strange behavior,is possible that the pressure on the brake was at the limits of the wheel lock.

Given I did a similar thing a couple of laps earlier (to you!) I guess that's fair enough. Had absolutley no idea what had happened to me until I saw the replay - you were quite a bit behind me, but when you lose the car there you're just a passenger...

Nice to see the first few corners were clean with some close racing. I bogged down at the start at lost a position or two, but could see quite quickly that the Ferrari had the guts for it, and was content to wait for a bit. I think it was Fran who took out Iestyn at the first hairpin, pushing him out, then came back tight on the exit of the curve, and squeezed me - whoever it was, that was pretty dangerous on the first lap.

On lap 3 I was dicing with Doni in the first half of the track. Going into the first left hander Doni had a moment, but kept it on the black stuff. I'm afaid I was committed to the line through the corner and couldn't do anything to avoid contact, but happily we both got out of it unscathed. Then on lap 5 Cookie rejoined the track in right front of me, and I unbalanced the car avoiding him, and spinning into the rough. I really feel you shouldn't have come to the track Axel.

Lap 6 going down the back straight Fran and I were zooming past everyone. Fran managed to get his braking done better than I, and I was worried I was going to go into the back of him. I tried to move right but lost control of the car and clipped Fran. I think Fran bounced off the bales and clipped Doni, which was unfortunate.

All in all, an eventful night..

Indeed, a short race here.. managed to get a little run in Q and had 4th on the grid, so just aimed to hang with the leaders, like Tommie, until late in the race. But on lap 1, at T4, Fran braked late with Arf on his tail, and bumped me wide, so I rejoined behind the second group. I thought I had to clear them quickly, to stay with the leaders, and thus pushed too hard on lap 2, going off at T2, with Jethro unfortunately following me, and Clive escaping with a scrape of the sticky hay.

There was some close racing going on... on Lap 12 Rainier and Gebhardt were only 0.01 apart at the line for 3rd, and on Lap 13 Tommie and Dean were 0.00.... was looking like a nail-biting finish!

I thought Tommie was making a run up inside into T2, tried to leave room but had outside wheels on grass when I turned in and off to explore the countryside I went (just long enough to prevent getting back up to make another challenge). Got it stopped before the corn, and rejoined for 2nd. Great clean racing with him (and Cookie earlier) 'til then.

Very nice race Smiley . Reims always provides some good racing and this time was no exception.

After a really good tow from Cookie in my very first quali lap, I was surprised and happy to be able to put the Lotus on pole! I knew it lacked slightly in outright speed compared to the Ferrari's though, so the plan stayed the same, just making sure to stay out of trouble untill the very end. But obviously, that's a little bit easier when you're in pole position, than, say, 6th, so I was very happy with quali.

The race starts and Cookie got a little run on me off the line, but decided not to take any chances and tuck in behind me. Then the first straight came and he flew fast me, followed the next lap by Dean. A couple of laps later Francesco also caught me and I was back to 4th. At this point I was just trying to hang on. The pack behind me was having a scrap of their own and were too far back to worry about, so I set about chasing the leaders.

It all went sour for Cookie when he suffered from understeer in turn 1 and ended up in the greenery. At the same lap, Francesco overcooked it entering the first hairpin and planted himself into the haybales. After that it was just Dean and me. Lap after lap we traded places, although it was clear my car was lacking slightly in outright speed. With four laps to go, I had a look down the inside at turn 2. Dean left a little bit too much room and ended up placing a wheel onto the grass, which resulted in him spinning into the greenery as well.

From that point on it was a mad dash to the finish. Halfway through the lap I realised Dean could still catch me if I didn't continue pushing, so I did. It was just enough to take the checkered flag in first place, since in the last lap, Dean had already catched my tow and put in a blistering fastest lap to finish P2 only 2 seconds back.

Great race, I hope we drive at more fast tracks (or even ovals) soon! Smiley .

Yeah, very unfortunate Francesco! I reviewed your collision with Arf. If you'd carried on with three wheels and completed the lap, you would have been rewarded points. So you came very close! I'm sure next time you will finish again  Smiley .
