First, apologies for my semi rant at the end of the race. I was frustrated that I had been kept in the pits for a lot longer than I should have been, and it prevented a possible scrap with Frex in the second half of the race.
Secondly, with respect to Clive's comment......it is difficult on this track to avoid using various kerbs at certain locations around the track. If two wheels are kept on the tarmac, and (in my opinion) use of any trackside
grass is avoided, then I don't see a problem. Having said that, I know for a fact that I probably overstepped the mark at certain times, but this was not deliberate. The Daytona was quite a tricky drive around this track, and sometimes I got the approach to a corner slightly wrong, or (in the case of one particular corner) I had the Sun shining directly into my eyes!
A decent start catapulted me into 3rd place behind Geoffers and Tim. I tried hard to stay in touch with them, but those Porsches were just too quick for me. I had hauled my ass away from the chasing pack, so it was a lonely race after that until my pitstop. Frex was catching me towards the end of this first stint, and we entered the pits at the same time. Unfortunately, my pitstop problems (they filled the fuel tank when I didn't ask for it) resulted in me sitting there for ages. I had to change the tyres aswell, so by the time I left the pits, Frex was probably halfway around the next lap!
That effectively killed off any chance of a battle for me in the second half of the race. I caught and passed several drivers that may (or may not) have pitted at that stage, and that moved me up to P4, but Frex was over 40 seconds ahead of me by then, so I just reeled off the remaining laps in silence.
Sorry to hear about your disconnection, Donnie. I saw that you had left just before the start of the race, and I was gutted for you
