Moderator's Report

Interesting first few corners!

Server replay time: 0h01m05s

Hendy takes a defensive line into T3 and Martin takes to the grass. Although the maddog has held his hands up, I think he is a bit harsh on himself and the rest is unavoidable.

MH tags Hendy and they take out George. Dave takes avoiding action and although Bill has slowed Martin is very slow recovering and at real time pace he can't react quick enough to avoid him.

Less forgiveably, Bill gives Martin a whack as he recovers.

At least all the carnage meant that everybody gets through Nouveau Monde without incident....

.... except for Bill who spins in front of Martin who helpfully taps him straight. hoho.

Season 26 Privateers Trophy - Round 8 - Rouen

From its opening in 1950, Rouen-Les-Essarts was recognized as one of Europe's finest circuits, with modern pits, a wide track, and spectator grandstands. The circuit (which ran on public roads) had a few medium straights, a cobbled hairpin turn (Nouveau Monde) at the southernmost tip, and a few blind corners through a wooded hillside The appeal was greatly enhanced by the climb from Nouveau Monde at 56 metres to Gresil at 149 metres..

We will run Intermediate Damage with the allowance of ONE shift-R reset. No Shift-Rs are allowed in practice unless authorized by the moderator. A Shift-R (fault or not) MUST be followed by a Stop & Go. A Shift-R for tyres/fuel is not allowed. Any driver taking more then ONE Shift-R OR failing to take a Stop & Go will be disqualified from the race result.

For Season 26, all drivers must complete at least 50% of race distance to be classified.

Race List = IGOR

Replays Available here

Driver lists and token rules can be found on the championship standings page

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated for lap 1 only. For this event the red zone will be from the start to the exit of Nouveau Monde. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

I've not yet seen a practice Server, but after offline practice, I'd like to request the race password be changed to Sennapod, as I've heard that makes you go faster.  Undecided

while that "joke" might be funny sometimes , don't you think it could be a little insensitive this weekend ?

There was no direct connection intended.  But if you choose to make a connection, there are those who make jokes about religion, and those who don't.  The religion endures. angel

If I get chance to check everything out before 9pm I may well join you guys for this one. I'm sure I'll be as effective finding the tyres on lap one as I ever was!

I'll go ahead and register in the appropriate thread if a moderator could do the honours. Smiley

I made only one big mistake at Rouen - I decided to race, while the GPL Gods were telling me not to! Angry

3 seconds off my best time put me down the grid, despite the Lotus cladding.  Nasty unpleasant random glitches, tend to take their toll.  I debated wether to abandon the project, but instead hoped for improvement by using my connections.

This decision was quickly proven wrong, and I illustrated the fact to all concerned at turn 2.  Thank you for your concern . . . no wait, that's not right!  With the car ahead hugging the centre line, I should've heeded the warning signs, and headed towards it's tail.  I glimpsed a potential gap, then gathered glimpses of our demise.  Having 4 wheels remaining, I realigned forwards, and was then hit 3 more times, at 5 second intervals.  These failed to finish me off, but did make me wonder what sort of FOV, and screen combination I was running into?

Struggled to make a single competitive racing lap, so parked it before more damned damage was done!  Angry

Disappointing. Great start and then a crash ahead and had to avoid somebody avoiding the crash... dead last but picked one or two off and I was chasing Billy and Pierre. Caught Pierre and was planning a drafting pass when I suddenly lost drive. Engine was still going but no oomph... reset, stop n go and that put me nearly a lap down. Bit of a fight for twelfth turned into getting lapped by Cookie. Hope I didn't hold you lot up too much.

Popped the engine on lap 13 or so, so that was that. Fun while it lasted.

I had a good race with Axel all the way. I was very careful with backmarkers just in case they weren't aware of me arriving just after Axel had passed them, but I needn't have worried - they all seemed to be very aware. After halfway I found that I could close the gap down if we were both in clear air and it was down to 1 second near the end. So maybe there was a chance for me if I was close and had a better exit onto the straight for the last time, but I didn't find out. I was not smooth into the last lap in T2 hitting the kerb and being unsettled into T3, hitting the kerb again and spinning.
Grats to Axel for winning under pressure without mistakes.
I do like Rouen. I think it has the best mix of fast and slow, straights and corners and altitude changes. It's probably my favourite track and at last I now have my first fastest lap in a UKGPL race.

Grats to Axel and Andy on setting a cracking pace, you were just too fast for me even with the Lotus power!  The race was fairly uneventful, the only person I passed was Gareth when his engine expired (bad luck mate) and apart from being hassled by David in the early laps nobody challenged me.  However it wasn't boring, I had to push hard all the way to try to keep ahead of David and to be in a position to capitalize on any mistakes the front runners made.

Don't try to pass on the first lap Cheesy

I only practiced one session before the race, but it's a familiar track. After the T2 wreck had a clean race and regained my position+1 thanks to Garaeth expiring and no subsequent off-track incidents.

High speed tracks like this are hard with a gamepad, but I finally inherited a momo wheel which I will begin using next season.
