Moderator's Report

No reported incident

Only one incident during red zone between Arf Arf Arf and Evil Clive.

Another incident, between Ronnie and Dean happened just after the red zone ...but was not reported.
Thanks to giving me less works !

Server replay time: 0h01m00s

Evil overtook Arf on T2 lap 1, but there was warp between its rear left wheel and Arf's front right wheel. and Arf was ejected out of the track

No contact between the two cars, it was only due to crashbox+warp.

The 9th round of the season 26 Historics championship (mod66) will be on “Jops Siffert” track
It’s a fantasy track, nice graphics & good for racing.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

The race will be run under PRO rules so no resets are allowed.

Andreas GEBHARDT will be restricted to Group 2 cars :
Brabham BT11 2.5lt or Lotus 33 BRM

I find you can set most routers to automatically give out the same local IP address to devices (certainly my Technicolor router does). May be something to consider so you don't get any nasty surprises!

Apologies for not putting 9 up in a while, I have been away from home and working hard, so haven't really found time to practice at any decent stretch.

This is set! But Linux did upgrade the Kernel and suddenly the fix IP was gone...
Was no longer the same device for the router!

Thanks for all the chat during qualifying.  Angry

ONE moderator should inform the driver, ONCE. If driver ignores this, DQ.

As far as how my race went, well, ***censored*** and when does Season 27 start?

At two points during the race I had to make a split second decision; go left or go right.
The first happened an instant after the race started, the other happened an instant before my race ended.
One I got correct and one I didn't. Law of averages I suppose  Roll Eyes

Grats to Cookie, amazing time, and to all who finished.

I'm getting tired of qualifying well, and lasting less than a couple of laps. The only progression I'm seeing is that fewer of the incidents are my fault!

I started p3 or p4, got a clean start and away through T1 without losing a position. Clive made a better exit out of T1, and came down the inside. I took the racing line, and Clive slipped underneath me. It looks from my replay like I got slapped off the track by a dose of warp. I got stuck in a tree, and it took a while to get out. I was so fed up to be so far behind everyone else when I rejoined, that I was already thinking of pulling off and doing something more interesting when I fell off the track at the tricky right hander and donated a wheel to the countryside.

Bored....

Apologies to anybody who got caught up in my inability to properly start.. I thought I made a jump start, and hit the brakes, unfortunately I neglected to pull the clutch in which made the revs bog down. Last and catch-up to play. Made it a few laps round before I thought 3 wheels was a good idea. Game over for me! Iestyn did the same trick and went a few laps further, still with a busted engine.

Well, my hatred of 50% for points continues.. thought I made it to about lap 14/15, three or four laps down, parking it in a bush.. and then, once the race finished, it became apparent I must have been looking at the leader's lap count instead of my own.  Angry

Before that.... learned the track following Arf and Cookie in Q, putting me 2nd splitting them... nice little battle we had at the front going 3 way, when I lost it at the jump and Pro damage made my car a mess. Considering it's 50% for points, we have a lot of collisions early on in the races... I was deliberately cautious early on as I knew I had to make it to lap 13.. Oh the irony  Cheesy

This is such a challenging track to make a good setup with a car I never used before.
And then there is the Jump...  Shocked

Seems I found a good compromise to make the pole,
but I still had the fact in my brain, if you land a little crosswise the car will snap over!

And it happened! Twice!
The first 360° made me loose the lead to Clive, the second after a great catch-up race made me solid second  Sad

Grats to Clive for a perfect race win! Great battle until it lasted Roll Eyes

I almost did not make the effort to join this race, I got home after a particularly harrowing evening and just slumped in the armchair. The biggest attraction was that concentrating on GPL might take my mind away from other things...so I dragged myself in front of the monitor.

A handicap choice of Lotus or Eagle looked a big problem for this deceptively demanding circuit, but the setup I had built for the Eaglet at Anderstorp had been quite succesful so i dragged that in and started some race fuel laps. The car was a nightmare..snapping into overtseer and then understeering at the next corner???

It was not until I aborte and returned to the pits to check the setup that I realised that the Anderstorp setup had been very assymmetric with tyre pressures/camber/ even spring rates out of balance for all the important corners in Sweden. Once I balanced up settings the car came alive and I was able to poke it onto 4th place on the grid with race fuel.

Jops always has the chance to punish any over exuberance and I was quite content to sit back and simply take any gifts that came my way. The first opportunity came as early as T1 when Ronnie got crossed up and I had a smooth run to take the inside at T2. ( I have not looked at the replay but apologies to Ronnie if there was contact that sent him off  Undecided Undecided)
I was then sat behind Axel and Iestyn who were battling for the lead and dragging all 3 of us away from the rest of the field. It was noticeable that at certain places both of their cars looked a little "on the edge" whereas my Eaglet felt very comfortable.
Iestyn was the first to wobble a little too much and I took the invitation to claim 2nd spot, although whilst passing Iestyn I had lost ground on Axel. It was very gratifying to be able to close up on Axel so easily, without any major risks, over the next few laps and then to sit and wait again.
Axel was good enough to give me the lead a few laps later  Wink

I was watching prib and monitoring Axel as he slowly closed the gap, but resisted the urge to push hard until he got within 100 mtrs, then I just upped the pace enough to hold him at a safe distance, figuring that it was his job to push hard and take the risks Roll Eyes My car still felt settled and I knew that I could go faster if I really had to....it was not long before I had to test that extra speed as Axel continued to push.
Then, just when it seemed that I would be in a battle for the champagne...Axel was gone from my mirrors and I was left to keep a steady pace to the flag.

It was certainly a better end to the evening compared to how it began, and a victory that I did not expect. Tristan was absent and I am sure that had he been there, things would not have been so easy

Grats to Axel and all the finishers, but commiserations to Iestyn who I passed several times as he limped his 3 wheeler around to try and make 50% distance only to be fooled by the technology and quit 1 lap too soon Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided

It looks like the last race of the season is going to be a interesting.................................
