Thanks Ed, now 29 laps.
Is there any need to change the start time for this one?

The football is at 8pm, so unless you want to start at 7pm or 10pm, no.

Well that was a short outing, hit the concrete tyres on lap 1!

Knew it was the wrong car for this track.  Sad

Yes, indeed, the most atrocious luck there, Geoffers.  Sad  But you're still p1 in the point standings!  Smiley

Grats to Federico on a fine win!  Super job by Animal Ed to score P2 in the GS 'vette.  And hey!  A p3 pour moi!  Most unexpected but welcome.

Kudos to Jarda who did a great job in the Ferrari.  I almost selected this car as my ride here as it was so much fun to drive.  Somewhat slower that the Cobra 427 to be sure but fun nonetheless.  Alex hung on gamely in the little Lotus Elan to carry off a good p7.

I had some fine duels during the race.  An off by Giuseppe(0214 in the replay cap)set up a keen three-way, side-by-side dash between GR, Jarda and myself down the main straight(0270).  I had to back off early as I was on the inside for the corner following and the Cobra's brakes aren't the most efficient.  Giuseppe fair near cleaned my front wing off when he carved down to the verge.

Not long after, Giuseppe rammed Phspok off the road in T1(0622)and this let me through to a lofty p3.  I didn't think that it would last...and it didn't.  Giuseppe came tearing up behind me in the twisty bits...I had the goods on him on the straights...and moved to my outside flank as we entered the final complex.  Bad idea.  His Porsche got pinged off the road but proper(1098).  Recovering, GR closed rapidly again and not wanting to arse about with engineering a good pass, he decided to straight forwardly just drill me off the road(1182).  That cost a bunch of time but I still held p4.  Justice was served later when he ran afoul of the tires leading onto the main straight and trashed his 911(1780).  Tsk, tsk...

This left me again in p3 with Fedrico and Eddie long gone but Phspok not all the far behind in p4...and gaining.  In the closing stages, he gave me quite a chase.  With just a few laps to go, his GT40 clipped my tail in the final complex and it gave me a start(2222).  'Here we go again!', I thought.  'Well, if that's the name of the game...'

On the same lap and upon entering the main straight, I no sooner got up to speed than I decided to cover the inside line approach to T1 and make Phspok work for the pass(2245).  Most likely, he'd achieve that but you never know.  Imagine my surprise, then, as he dove to my right and occupied the service apron running up to T1.  'This can't be good.', I mused.  Sure enough, with the extra speed to pass me and the inside line, it spelled doom for the GT40.  Off into the outfield barriers at speed.  The time lost there made it a done deal for p3.

Good fun...  CYA next round!

Well I enjoyed it very much, it was a shame you ended the race so soon Geoffers, as you would have given the Italians more
competition than our Footballers did.  thumbup1
Even drivers of Giuseppe's skill make errors when under pressure  sweatdrop It wasn't a "rammed off" from where I was sitting
he was caught out by my lack of speed in corners, and tapped my back end. Much as I did on Monday with Coyote, and he messed up his chances of a win
by waiting while I took ages to get off the grass, so of course contact is not what we are about, but however undesirable, it's understandable
when people make an error while trying not to lose more speed than they need to. I was guilty of tapping Donny in the later stages but I don't
remember any spins as a result, I was doing that enough for two myself  Shocked

I took the less soft tyre option, but they were still all red towards the end, hence my "variable" lines in corners. I went into the barriers at T1
as Donny said, mostly because I was trying to stay off the grass on the straight, and forgot about all that braking rubbish  whistling

Anyway, thanks to all who turned up, I love Keimola, and the RSR2.8 has gone from the garage now.

My whole race was about saving tyres.
In first lap I was taking it easy knowing that more than 500 bhp will give me fighting chance on straights. When Geoffers find out that those tyres alongside of track, are much harder than they looks,
it was first ringing bell but I was determined to terrorize Giuseppe as much as I can resulting him to overshoot his braking point.

Than I noticed huge tyre wear on rear left ... From that point I didn't race anybody, just keep the car on the grey stuff with less as possible spinning the rear wheels (there goes my tactics to help rotating car away) but it was barely enough to finish the race.

In penultimate lap I had a spin but it was more due to lack of concentration than the tyres.
I saw that I have more than 50 seconds advantage over 3rd place and the dog was outside ( AC race the day before ) - predispositions for disaster. Luckily I remembered which button is engine starter and finished the race in 2nd place.

I think it's a bit unfair that the champ rounds have continued on World Cup nights (particularly for us sorely tried England fans) as it's really stuffed regulars like myself in the tables  Sad but I guess I'm alone with that thought  Undecided I'm even more miffed that the 2.8RSR has now gone...gits!  Wink also last weeks round with 6 cars should never have stood, waste of a good champ round and car grouping IMO, plus easy points haul just because you turned up!?
...and yes I am on a bad mood today  Sad

I just don't get this "must watch footie live" business.   If our race clashed with the British GP I would record the latter and watch it later.   Roll Eyes

Getting together with a few mates and a few beers to watch a live game is what the sports all about. Can hardly ask others to not watch it until I'm ready  Wink Grin Live sports always got a bit extra suspense than recorded anyday, though I do end up with loads of recorded motor racing to watch.
