Silversone and Monza - 65s Fun Race

This race is just for fun so no passwords or modding. Invite your non-UKGPL mates as well. Just a warm down from Season 26. Unlimited Shift-R with no Stop n Go BUT we do expect gentlemanly behaviour!

No car restrictions but if you are quick (i.e Pro!) take a BT7 and give us Amateurs a chance...

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL3
Race date = Tuesday 17-06-2014
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Silverstone then Monza
Race length = 13 Laps
Variant = 1965
Damage Model = Intermediate
Qualifying time = 15 minutes

First race will start around 21:15 for a twenty minute blast around the Northamptonshire countryside and then 15 minutes more qually for a bit of fun at Monza.

Can't seem to find/get on the specific race event thread;  but well done the official chap with that win!

It was all rather involved for most of the time;  not the fluffy-fun event that we were kind of promised... more please!

I guess there was no football tonight then?!

Cheers,
Dave.

Well, there was a LOT of crashing in front of me in Race 1 but I threaded through and was doing my best to hold off those pesky Pros. Couldn't do it and then with two laps to go made a big mistake at Luffield and got on the grass. Tried to gently come back across only to wipe Billy out - lucky it wasn't being modded - I would be up before the Chief Mod...

Had to reset and that put Bernie up my exhaust pipes. Tried to peel off to the pits to finish in the Pit Lane (no Stop n Go but I felt guilty...) but hit the wall and lost out to Bernie by 0.04secs... The three place penalty would have put me behind him anyway.

As for race 2. Knew I had a chance of pole and was on a hot lap that would put me ahead when I crashed at Lesmo 1. Got started again and although the car was a bit bent (kept bottoming out) it was quick and with 6 secs to go I set off on a pole hunt. Got my purple sectors but found one D Curtis miles ahead...

Off the line got a good start for once and led into Curva Grande. Dave was miles quicker than me through Parabolica but I was quicker to it. After 6? laps, a minor error replaced Mr C with Mr C. The Cookie in the BT7 was unbelievably quick through the corners and although I could stretch my legs through Ascari he was always there at Para - when he got with 5 yards I went defensive and although I kept a tight line we had a minor touch and the GPL Gods made it England 1, Germany 0. That gave me a 100 yard lead and without the tow I could just about manage the gap.

Seemed like a VERY long race but having led through every corner I spent the last three just concentrating on not stuffing it up.

Thanks to everyone for turning up and thanks to the Pros for the self-imposed handicap. Not a fair win but I will take it!

I lucked out last season in the Privs to beat Cookie but this was the first time I had ever beaten him fair(ish) and square(ish). Wouldn't fancy my chances if he had been in a Lotus though.

I was gutted to miss the 10th round of the Ams and this capped off the season for me in fine style.

Season 27 starts after the World Cup. Now if England can just beat Uruguay, then Costa Rica, then Colombia, Brazil, Germany.....

Nothing to do with chickens but what I don't understand about this mod and a few others afaicr , if I do an "on line" race using iGOR , I save my best setup . But then if I exit Igor and run GPL (at the same track ), there is no sign of said setup , it just disapears into thin air !

any ideas where it might be hiding without me having to dismantle the PC to try find it ?

TIA  Smiley

P.S. it was a good race/ races  too (mostly) , wondered what happened to Paul on't last lap , thought you had fallen asleep or summat  Roll Eyes

do have more than 1 player name, or more than one player with the same name? you probably have mutiple players. creating differant driver names for each mod may help.

choose "testing" in gem and go through the player names and one of them will have said setup in.

they are saved in; c:\ sierra\gpl\players\bernie[or whatever your driver names are]\setups\spa [or whatever]

As for chickens. If you get a good omelette, does it matter if the chicken doesnt like you?

You could also have two installations of GPL. I had this once and it caused a bit of head scratching but iGOR was kicking off one GPL.exe and when I went local GEM was kicking off another. I will take a look at my iGOR setup when I get a chance.

The 'falling asleep' part of the first race had happened half a lap before when I drove into Bill  Roll Eyes

In F:/ GPL/players , there is :-

Darwin_Bernie65
Darwin_Bernie_65

there is only 1 Monza setup for the fezza which I put there manually , no other setups in either file . this is wrong because I just raced there with BT11 and cobbled a set up during qually which I used during the race !

In GPL players only one Bernie Darwin 65 shows as well as Bernie Darwin for each other mod .

I use Win7 , my GPL is installed on a partition F/: GPL
GPL secrets GEM and iGOR are on C:

No other GPL installation on this machine   Smiley

at least not that I know of  Undecided

EDIT To ADD

In GEM the only set up shown is Default

mistery ghost in machine or what Huh

EDIT No 2

Just tried Monza BT11 saved 2 setups I just used in training, Both these setups are shown in GEM

there has to be a reason why the setup I concocted and used for the 65 race did not save ?

Gareth may be correct, in suggesting there may be several Bernie's competing for the lost setup.  It could be hiding in any player folder you have created.  You can switch between player names in GEM+.  Check each and every Bernie in GEM, at the track where your setup went missing.  It should appear there instead of the default, as soon as the correct Bernie is chosen.  And if not, I find grumbling is helpful. Hover your mouse over your name in the race result for monza and you'll see you were not driving as either of your 65 names. The BT11 set up will be in "Bernie Darwin".
Check the player profile when you join in igor.  detective
