Season 27 Friday Trophy - Rounds 3 & 4 - Efexx - GT

The second round in Belgium at Effex that most of those competing have had the chance to get to know this short fantasy track.

This seasons tracks will be easy and well known to have a smaller time gap between the lights and heavies,
if there is a too big gap on a track, a stop and go for the lights in the 30min race will be recommended!

The heavy drivers will allways have a free car choice!

This is really designed to be a fun series with 3 different car mods
- running 1 sprint length race of ~15 min and a ~30 min race with the same car.

This week will be GT's, the light drivers are at Effex restricted to Chaparral Mk2D, Ferrari 330/P4,   Ford GT40 Mk4 and Lola T70 Mk3

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP address = tbc
Race date = 01-08-2014
Variant = 1967 Sport Cars
Damage Model = intermediate
Track = Effex

Qualifying 1 Time = 20 minutes, starting  20:45 UK time
Race 1 Time = race 1 starts at ~21:05 UK time
Race 1 length = 15 minutes (13 laps )

Qualifying 2 Time = 10 minutes, starting  ~21:25 UK time
Race 2 Time = race 2 starts at ~21:35 UK time
Race 2 length = 30 minutes (26 laps )

Password: see above
Replay = will be here

There will be no delay between race1 and race2 so you can stay on the server after race1 is finished!
Drivers having missed race1 can join the server for the Quali of race2 in IGOR

Please restrict chat to only real necessary messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Races WILL be moderated for reported incidents only unless there is something VERY BAD happening!! so be nice to each other. Wink

I am looking at taking one of the non-light cars so that the grid will have a little diversity. I am familiar with the Porsche 910 and the Chap 2F, but how does the handling of the Ford GT I and the Mirage compare?

Walter on this track the (my?) ChapF is unbeatable... Roll Eyes

The GT40 MK1 and the Mirage are nearly equal in Handling, but the Mirage has a way better and stronger engine Wink

Thanks, I figured that was the case. I am short on practice time this week. So I need every advantage possible.  laugh

It also looks better, and has a cooler sound.

Very true  Smiley, I'll have to try the Mirage sometime in the near future. If I am able to race tomorrow, I'll be driving the Chap F (w/ Cookie's Edmonton setup).

On a separate note, we are doing this race with 30 frames per second, correct?

Yes Walter, but 36fps is the aim Grin

I still have my fastest ChapF Efexx setup if you like...

Thanks for the Set-up Cookie! My previous best in the Chap F was 1:06. I was more than pleased to see my lap time improve. In the first race, I benefitted from other people dropping out. The second race was more challenging. I had lots of fun, and it seemed like I always had someone near by to race against even after a multitude of mistakes.  Thanks everyone for the race!

I'm still not a big fan of these cars!  Took the 910 for the 1st race as it was not on the lights list;  even the server looked to be driving one...  But at least got to about half a second of a previous PB, so should be happy about that.

After my recent hardware issues;  I was left with using flappy paddles;  had to resort to putting a plastic bag over the shifter to stop me from reverting!  But hard to tell where I am in the gearbox [must increase/move the gear indicator - unreadable].  AND I found that my mapped reset/Shift-R was not working on the console, despite trying it multiple times.

I still have my fastest ChapF Efexx setup if you like...

Thanks! I downloaded it for the 2nd race! Sorry, could not do it justice though.
However, did manage a 1:05.57 & Prib suggested 1:04.57.

I inherited the Chap lead from Walter when he stopped for a picnic,  then I just had too many wobbles/offs/crashes & handed it back & nearly a whole lap to boot - well done that man!

I think that I'll prefer the CanAms;  although I know they are REALLY hard to get back on the track... Smiley

Cheers all,
Dave.

It's good to be back!  Cool
I had a brilliant battle with Cookie for the opening laps of race 1 until he span off around lap 7ish, considered holding back for him to rejoin but decided returning with a race 1 win would be nice  ninja

In race 2 I made a series of stupid unforced mistakes that managed to drop me from a few 10ths behind the leader to about half a mile in a couple of laps. I spent the majority of the race gritting my teeth and pushing as hard as I dared (Cue another couple of silly offs) before being gifted 2nd again after Raoni's engine expired and Mark disco'd.
Wish I'd managed to hang on as by the end of the race I had the P4 down to a high 1:03 without draft so I'm sure I could have made Cookie work hard for his win  Wink

Not a good start for me.  Screen freeze race 1, disco race 2.  Well done to the finishers.

Took the Porsche as I wanted to be able to control it, didn't mind how slow... I managed the slow part OK. The control proved trickier so I bailed out to avoid being a continuing danger to shipping.
