UKGTL Season 14 Christmas Special
Part One
The Endurance

Christmas Special Standings here

Grid/server capacity: 28 (we run on the Altbierbuden Lobby)

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (26 laps)

Track: Assen TT  Download this

Cars allowed: Any standard GTC-76 car

Car restrictions: None

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: 2x
Pit stops: Required

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

You made one person happy in any case Tony! Looking forward to this one.

(ps. Essen is a ugly town somewhere in Germany. Assen on the other hand is a very pretty little town in Holland with its own racetrack Cool)

Just spotted this post and almost did not bother reading as the date was so far ahead.

Would I be right in assuming that if I ensure that I only have the GTC-76 box ticked on the GTL start screen, that I can choose any of the cars that show??

I am nowhere near even looking at this track or cars yet...I mean, Dec 22nd is eons in the future isn't it. Maybe I will take a look at this over the previous weekend of the 20/21st

It's a tricky track Evil, and needs learning (IMO).

If you select the GTC-76 box then the cars that should be available to you are.................

BMW CSL

Chevrolet Corvette

De Tomaso Pantera

Ford Capri

Ford Escort

Porsche 906

Porsche 914-6

Porsche 911 RSR

Well, as it is a motorcycle track in the first place it is maybe not like most tracks we visit with GTL. As for its fast and flowing nature you need to be a bit early on the brakes so you do not kill your cornerspeed so much and can keep your momentum going.

Mmm looking at the car list i am sure Tony is going for the big block Corvette... Tongue

I got a virus warning when I tried installing the track.  Despite the very small file (8.6Mb), the installation seemed to hang, with lots of harddrive activity.  Was interrupted by Norton, with a warning about suspicious behaviour and threat level high.  Downloaded from Amazon S3. Tried Gamefront instead, but got a 'file not found' there.

Any one else run into this ?

Edit:

I downloaded Assen from NoGrip instead. It comes as an archive, so no .exe files and virus warnings here.  Wanted to verify I had the right version, so logged on to the on-line server. The cars I could select were only my add on GTC-76 - the standard ones were not there.  When I entered the sever, I got a 'Car not present on server' error and got booted shortly after.  Is this an indication that the track is incorrect, or could there be something screwy with the cars on the server ?

Cheers,
Erling

Well, given my numpty status in all things computer related.... I had no probs at all.

D/loaded the circuit from the amazon link,
Installed,
Fired it up,
and did a couple of laps in a random car as per Tony's advice about a tricky circuit to learn.

All seemed fine.

But.... I have had some odd messages at times when installing new circuits in the past. I only use AVG free, so maybe it is not as aggressive as your Norton?

Norton used to be a good product but now IMO it's bloatware and should be replaced by something more effective.

I will check the server tonight and report back.

Thanks Tony And Clive.

Norton frequently comes up with warnings when I install new cars and tracks, but up til now, it's only been of the kind that their knowledge of the file is limited, when very few customers have used it.  This one was different, and as mentioned, the installation process was working far longer than before, hence my reluctance to give it free reign on my computer.  May be a false alarm, but who's to say Amazon's file hasn't become infected since you guys downloaded it.

Cheers,
Erling

Track download is free of nasties and is identical to the download from nogrip.

Forgot to set the right cars up on the server but I think that's fixed now.

Let me know if anyone has further problems please.
