Moderator's Report

Dean Logan enters qually with a Matra and with approx 15 mins left before the start of the race he switched his car for the Cooper. The rules clearly state that drivers may only change a chassis in qualification if they have NOT set a lap time.
This allows for a simple mistake on the part of the joining driver to be corrected without penalty.
In past seasons this was a straightforward and clear cut. But this rule now has the added complication of the token system. Dean did not have sufficient tokens to have used his original choice of car anyway and should have selected the Cooper at the outset.
It may have been an honest mistake on Dean's part but as the moderator I have no option to apply this rule as it stands and DQ him, but I think that this issue should be debated at the end of season review and a consensus view taken.

On lap 8 Marco gets a better line and exit whilst chasing Fran and draws alongside just before the next left hand corner.. Unfortunately Fran has lost track of where Marco is and is not aware that there is a car inside when he turns in. GPL almost always punishes the car on the outside and Fran is flung into the barriers. Marco continues without damage.
Marco had gained 100% overlap at the point of turn in and was entitled to take the inside line. Fran maybe should have been aware of where Marco might be, but in fairness it was a long time since the other car had been visible.

Billy has a problem at the hairpin and is slow getting under way up the hill. David closes up very quickly and makes a clean line through the hairpin.
Although Billy is some distance ahead, David's extra momentum quickly closes the gap as they reach the next right hand bend. His speed gives him the opportunity to make a passing attempt up the inside.
I think Billy was caught out by this move as David had not been clearly visible in his mirrors and he had not anticipated that he could close the gap so quickly.
As a result Billy turns in to take his normal line and chops the nose off of David's car. In my view David had achieved enough overlap to oblige Billy to keep to his own side of the circuit.

Axel is struggling with a car almost out of fuel and runs off at T1 as he tries to avoid contact with Ronnie.
Doni closes rapidly on Axel as he recovers towards the apex of T2 and closes the door at the last minute on Doni who suffers from the impact.

Axel is at fault for a poor rejoin especially in a car that he knows will be slow due to lack of fuel

Welcome to the S27 F2 Championship - Round 2 - Jarama

Round 2 of the Formula 2 Trophy will take place in Spain. The Circuito del Jarama is a 3.4km/ 2.11 mile  race course in Madrid, Spain which has hosted nine Formula One Spanish Grand Prix. The circuit was built by Alessandro Rocci in 1967.  It  has one proper straight and most of the course consists of tight, twisty corners so overtaking was extremely difficult. (Try & avoid being in the modrator’s office afterwards).  Jarama hosted its last Formula One race in 1981

There will be no handicaps this season but, much like the 67-based series, tokens will be used!

Matra MS7 FVA : 16 tokens
Matra MS5 FVA : 14 tokens
Brabham BT23 FVA : 14 tokens
Lola T100 FVA : 14 tokens
Lotus 48 FVA : 14 tokens
Lotus 41B FVA: 12 tokens
McLaren M4A FVA : 12 tokens
Protos 16 FVA : 10 tokens
Lola T100 BMW : 10 tokens
Cooper T84 FVA : 6 tokens
Ferrari 166 : 3 tokens
Brabham BT14 LF : 0 tokens

Please check the Season 27 pages for details regarding rules and the Formula 2 Trophy pages in particular.

There will be two championships - Lights and Heavies (for slower drivers) who will contest separate championships but on the same grid.

You have ONE SHIFT-R with a Stop n Go of 0 seconds!
Only Reported incidents moderated outside the Red Zone
Full moderation of lap one Red Zone

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
Variant = 1967 Formula 2

Race length = ~40min -> 33 laps
Race date = Sunday 10-08-2014
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Qualifying time = 45 - 30 minutes
Race time = ~21:30 UK time
Red Zone = First lap from the start to the exit of Farina.
Replays = here

Please restrict chat to only urgent messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave a full (19 driver) server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

That is a known problem within the SRou system. Until one has scored points, he has to do the math himself.  You will have a maximum of 14 tokens to spend for the Jarama race (you have 4 now plus 10 for starting the race).

The Jarama track is also found here at UKGPL. Maybe your download won't be corrupt and you can install properly and race, good luck Wink

Are you loading from GEM Bernie? F2 is picky about your Video settings so may be that is the issue?

I'm not qualified to answer [but; I'm  I have just got over a whole bunch of PC boot/FOV/shifter/GPL running nicely again issues..]
If running from within GEM,  then I guess try deleting the gplcf2.exe file from the GPL folder & have GEM rebuild it.  I guess it would not hurt to compare rasteriser/graphics options with another mod as mentioned elsewhere Smiley

<ramble>
For a couple of seasons, I was having ongoing issues with the 65mod;  where it would be working fine;  but at some point would get the unresponsive green flag so couldn't join a new session.   I realised from looking back at a not-too-recent backup copy of the GPL folder that the gplc65.exe was working fine when 1778KB but not if it was presumably re-patched for whatever reason to 1878KB.   In fact, I ended up creating a batch file to copy a renamed old 'good' .exe to overwrite the current gplc65.exe.

I've only just fixed this by reinstalling 65 & now all works well;  although the cars look & sound a lot different...
</ramble>

What I'm trying to say is that it's probably straightforward to resolve if one knows what it's doing in there.   Err - I don't,  but maybe try deleting the file to have GEM rebuild it,  or maybe if you have a gpl backup from some time ago - maybe try drafting the old gplc65.exe in?   Failing that;  someone else is sure to help...!

Once it's working;  make a backup of the entire gpl folder [maybe excluding the replay folder].

Good luck, hope to see you later.

Cheers,
Dave.

Did some laps back last december new to F2 mod. Since Thursdaynight I have been lapping in all chassis's here as most WR's were up for grabs and I drove some Friday night. Yesterday wasn't able to test, right now finetuning racesetup for tonight...

I think the trick here is as always keep momentum, and combine double kinks as one single turn. Like Nuvolari and Fangio after the s/f straight; and the double kink between Ascari and Bugatti. And driving nice short lines. Most difficult point is braking towards Pegio after Bugatti, and having a smooth stable exit there. You need to keep some momentum and enough revs at the gear you use. If you brake to hard or too late you might go right instead of left Wink

Good luck all Wink
