Season 27 Friday Trophy - Rounds 7 & 8 - Panchine - 69Xtra

Welcome to the next round for the Friday Trophy this time at Panchine. A very convincing fantasy track imagined to be in North Italy. Fast, sweeping circuit with traps for the unwary. There are a couple of jumps, a tricky turn or two and very sticky hedges, so be careful. It is a relatively long circuit so space should open up, but slipstreaming might be crucial whether you are in front or behind.

This seasons tracks will be easy and well known to have a smaller time gap between the lights and heavies,
if there is a too big gap on a track, a stop and go for the lights in the 30min race will be recommended!

The heavy drivers will allways have a free car choice!

This is really designed to be a fun series with 3 different car mods
- running 1 sprint length race of ~15 min and a ~30 min race with the same car.

This week will be 69X's,
the light drivers are restricted to use a 4WD or wingless cars

Love Panchine as much as I hate Jarama so a bit gutted to miss the next two rounds. I'll be back for the CA blast round here though. Have fun in my absence...

Paul you missed GPL at its best...

Had 2 stints  phantastic fighting wheel to wheel with Mark. Great fair passing and repassing with full respect!

Shame we had this misunderstanding in R2 L2, would have been a great battle with Iestyn and Greg!

Now let's do it again with the GT's  Grin

Yeah that was great fun and a great fight!  Grats to Greg for staying clean and taking race 2.  This track really works, despite being a fantasy  Smiley

I had a nice time in the first race, but I needed to make a few changes afterwards. So I added some air to the tires. I reduced the downforce. I made the first gear even taller. I skipped the qualifying session so that I could start in the back. All of which led to me making lots of mistakes in the second race. I made enough mistakes that I thought it deserved a face palm  laugh

Congratulations Mark, Axel, and Andreas!

That was a lot of fun Axel and I agree totally with Mark. That was some good racing. Iestyn had some lousy luck and a few mistakes dropped him back. Very impressive fast lap in heat 2. I think I got my fast lap following you on that lap.

Can you believe it? 0.001 seconds? I bet you never match my time that closely again Mark. That's the 3rd time that's happened to me, losing a position by less than .01. The 1st time it happened I thought I was robbed since I set the time first in qualifying. I didn't think about GPL using 1000ths of second. I guess that got me a bit rattled. Or was it too much pressure trying to keep up with Mark and keep Axel behind? I blew an engine shortly after my spin.

I got rather lucky in the 2nd heat. I fell back a little at the start but I was starting to get comfortable and gain on the top 3 when Axel and Mark had trouble. I think I then forced the issue a bit with Iestyn. I was surprised to be running 1st. I held off Iestyn for more than a lap but he got his nose in front of me on the long straight so I backed off. Iestyn was really fast in the lead. I was struggling to keep close enough for some slipstream. I was making up lots of time on the straights. I was ready to tail Iestyn until I could figure out a way I might be able to pass late in the race when he suddenly pulled into the pits. Now knowing you were running 1/2 fuel, I'm really surprised I was able to keep up with you. I almost forgot how to drive once I got the lead again. It's been a while since I've been out front. It was nice to get a win. It makes up for some of my crappy luck and the disco at Effex.

Take care guys.

Yeah that was tight - I didn't see it at the time as I had to disconnect and reconnect, and only just made it back in before the race started.
