Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Very clean start, and no incidents in the Red Zone. Well done all! There were quite a few offs in the race, but everyone did a great job avoiding eachother, and only Walt did need a shift-R not having a reverse gear. Phil led from start to finish in the Brabham, had one spin on Lap 13 out of T1, but his lead was good enough. Congrats! Dave Curtis in another Brabham ran a flawless very consistent race to finish in 2nd, but Phil had a slightly better pace. Jonny has one spin in Scieri on Lap 18, but finishes a well deserved 3rd in the BRM.

One incident has been reported. Fran and Bernie had a coming together on Lap 24, their last lap, as they were both lapped.

Server replay time: 0h51m02s

Bernie tries to outbrake Fran towards Scieri. Bernie reports he locked all wheels braking causing him to skid straight on into a corner he normally cruises around. Fran reports he hadn't seen Bernie, who came from a long way behind. As Fran didn't see him he turnt in and both spun. Both went on to the finish and their initial positioning wasn't changed. The moderators are not convinced Bernie would have been able to make Scieri without touching wheels with Fran, even if Fran had given more room.

There was no obvious perpetrator, both drivers were racing for position and pushing to the limits. Equally both drivers could have backed off and prevented the incident. We have to let the drivers race and to apportion blame in borderline cases will stifle the racing.

Both drivers felt they were victim and asked for no penalties for eachother.

Fransesco - Advice - Watch your mirrors (or use pribluda) and leave space for cars alongside. If you would have been aware of Bernie, you could have let him go and go underneath him retaking the position. Compare the situation between Robert/Clive in the Works race (0h06m42s).

Bernie - Advice - When outbraking someone try to make sure to be able to hold the inside line. Most cars are doing 60mph on the racing line as they cross onto the cobbles; but you were doing 60mph on the inside line as you crossed onto the cobbles.

Quite pleased with my driving in that race.  I improved by Brabham PB which is always nice.

Had to concentrate hard to keep Dave at bay, I went wide at T1 at about half distance and lost all the lead I had carefully built up.  Thankfully I didn't hit anything and I could continue undamaged.

Grats to all finishers.  This is a tough track to get right, I think it is the hardest of the original papy tracks to get right.  Too easy to make a mistake into the hairpin and you have to get the power down early on the climb from the hairpin to get a good time in.  Very difficult!

Was surprised to have found myself sitting in 2nd place for the start of the race;  was REALLY surprised to still be in the same position come the end of the race!

Phil was just to quick for me. Couldn't hang on;  he was just consistently easing away (as in, he was easily getting further & further ahead).  He didn't quite lose enough time to let me pass halfway through Wink  but I'm sure he'd have caught/passed me again anyway.  And he managed to show off by getting a 1:58 too!

Jonny's BRM behind seemed too close for too long.  I was certain he'd be past at some point;  was somewhat relieved when it seemed a small gap was slowly opening up.  Of course; I was well aware that any mistake would have meant a more difficult run.

Not looked back at much of the replay,  but the GPLRA report seems to suggest that Phil/me/Jonny had a easy/boring time of it; but just behind it was obviously all kicking off!  Looks as if Billy must have been busy;  getting right to the back of the line then getting up to 4th.

I've only managed to get under 2:00 here a handful of times & 2 were this event  [which is both of them since 2010!].   Overall, I'm happy with that Internet setup I grabbed a few laps before the event...

Congrats again Phil.

Cheers all,
Dave.

Had a bit of a coming together with Francesco at sciere on the last lap , not sure who was at fault , will let the mods decide , not that it will make much difference to my result .

Fran/Bernie, if you want me to moderate it, please report the incident.

To all Privateers, please report eventual incidents before next Monday 25th of August! Congrats Phil for the win and Dave and Jonny for podium! Smiley
