Mid-season mayhem is back. Yes, it’s the return of Mods & Rockers. Two teams of GPL'ers will go head to head – trading insults & fast laps.

This will see the teams each driving the same chassis. Depending upon which team you are picked for you will be driving to the 65 Cooper or BT7 (have set up for both). Historically Mod & Rockers would gather on Blackpool sea front (complete with theme park) on a Bank Holiday for a good old fashioned punch up. As we GPL'ers are all rather too old & civilised for such behaviour and there is no race track at Blackpool we will relocate a few miles down the road to Oulton Park, running the long layout pre-chicanes with Island Bend. (Spring Cup 1967 layout)

Team will selection will work as follows. Captain of the Rockers will be me (Jethro). Opposing team captain will be nominated on the night - it could be anyone who turns up. The opposing Mods captain has a momentous decision – you can either pick the chassis (Cooper or Brabham) or have first choice of driver. It's then like picking footy teams in the school playground – team captains take turns to select from the assembled cast.

No registration required. In the event of more than 20 drivers we will run two grids – everybody will get to drive. I will give instructions on splitting the grids on the night.

Those wishing to participate simply turn up in the playground (UKGPL chatroom) for 9pm on Sunday 24 August 2014.

This is a team event so the race will be run on Pro settings with points scoring based on the last Santa vs Elves team race.

If you don’t have the track – download here - http://gpltd.bcsims.com/?dis=O&menu=Show_Letters.

Everyone knows that million-to-one chances happen 9 times out of 10. Why the hell do I keep crashing then?!

Wish I knew about this a couple of days ago - now I've arranged to be away...
How about a re-match on Monday? Cheesy

Have fun;  probably won't be squeaky clean,  but keep it not too dirty! Wink

Bit late notice as have been rather busy the last couple of days, would have posted it sooner! Should be a good bash for all!

Now there's a coincidence , just got back home from the  Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting,  main race today for 1960/70's era F junior & F3 cars

Just logged on to catch the latest news and find If I had spotted this earlier I could have been back to the future Oulton Park again , (very surreal)   Grin

Teams ended up being based on 6 of us.... still a good race IMHO.

Cookie was captain of the mods, I were captain of the rockers. Ronnie and AndyL became rockin' rockers, and Andreas and Iestyn honorary mods.

1 = Cookie - 20
2 = Jethro - 19
3 = Ronnie - 18
4 = AndyL - 17
5 = Andreas - 16
6 = Iestyn - 15

20+16+15=51
19+18+17=54

Maths doesn't lie... rockers are winners this time out!

There may be a rematch next season.... for which we hope the turnout will be a bit more than tonight's event... I will endeavour to try and schedule it more in advance too!!! These cars are good fun here, and the race just about spot on for an enjoyable race.
