Server replay time: 0

lap 8 Dean catches fran at the end of the main straight and attempts a pass. However Dean does not achieve overlap before turn in to claim the corner and hits Fran.

Server replay time: 0

LAP 12 There is contact between Dave Curtis and Fran. It is difficult to apportion blame here as there appears to be some serious warp/lag on the server replay. But both cars require a reset and Dave fails to take the required SnG.

Server replay time: 0

Lap 15 Fran is making a pit stop for his SnG and slows whilst looking for the pit entry. Ronnie is at racing speed approaching the final turn.
Regrettably these cars do not have hazard warning lights or indicators and Ronnie does not realise that Fran is at crawling pace and getting slower. Fran maybe should have kept closer to the right hand side of the tarmac and left a clear run for cars coming up behind.

I think I call this as a racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h17m55s

Ronnie is attempting to pass Doni and gets a better drive off of the bend at the end of the long straight. Doni takes the wide line for the next left hander and Ronnie attempts to put his car up the inside.
The rules are that the overtaking car must achieve 50% or greater overlap at THE TURN IN POINT. When Doni turns in Ronnie not achieved 50% overlap and there fore he should have aborted the move.

Welcome to the S27 F2 Championship - Round 4 - Adelaide

Round 4 of the Formula 2 Trophy will take place Down-Under on the temporary street circuit at Adelaide, it hosted eleven Formula One Australian Grand Prix events from 1985 to 1995. Probably the most famous event was the culmination of the 1994 championship, between Damon Hill against Michael Schumacher. The title was settled in Michael’s favour following an incident which took both drivers out of the race.

There will be no handicaps this season but, much like the 67-based series, tokens will be used!

Matra MS7 FVA : 16 tokens
Matra MS5 FVA : 14 tokens

Please check the Season 27 pages for details regarding rules and the Formula 2 Trophy pages in particular.

There will be two championships - Lights and Heavies (for slower drivers) who will contest separate championships but on the same grid.

You have ONE SHIFT-R with a Stop n Go of 0 seconds!

Apologies to Bernie for rear ending him.  No excuses... mea culpa.  I just did not anticipate you braking that early and i tried to thread it up the outside but the gap was not big enough  Undecided

Argh (but self-inflicted this time).

I may owe an apology (or two), I'll watch rpy later. Gonna go enjoy a warm, sunny day (what's left of it).

Grats to finishers.

Without watching replay yet (sometime dangerous...) apologies all. That outing sucked monkey spheres.

It was not on for a good start from the off...  Not a good combination of thinking it was Imola tonight (not that it would have made much difference) & getting back from NHS walk-in centre for the end of qually at the correct track.

Not good.  Apologies.
Dave.

Strange how it goes.. Jarama - nowhere; Enna - too many spins; today - very fast, despite being nowhere here in the 65s not so long ago Roll Eyes

Apologies to those I lapped tonight.. my Q meter was jumpy, hence so were the cars I came across. Sometimes when they disappeared, I ended up rear-ending, like with Bernie, when they came back into view. Without that knowledge, those incidents must look very odd, with me looking to leave room and then just failing to react! There were a few other close calls as I passed cars, so I was lucky too, but it was also disappointing to see offs/collisions once I passed some cars, and I wondered if my connection had had anything to do with it.

After contacting Bernie, the car was a little damaged, so I just brought it home, and only tried for a 29 in the last few laps, going off on the last two after good first sectors. A satisfying win, but a little frustrating to know that there was another 9 tenths (!) there for the taking, on a perfect lap. Can I bank that time and take it back to Jarama? Cheesy

Maybe I can only win when Rob is not present Grin... Get well soon bud. Pacific Raceways next... time to look into the WR setups you sent me! Tongue

I suspect this might be an eventful race for the mods. L1 was certainly interesting for me. Various people who started in front of me had some bad luck - this included Jethro, who had a moment ahead of me, and headed off the racing line in the direction of the grass. I took the racing line, only for him to turn back into me. I felt the innocent party (in this case me) got out of the bump fine, whilst the other...didn't. However, karma came visiting a few moments later...

At the end of the straight I braked normally, although cautiously given it was Lap 1. Cookie was well in front of me, and initially I wasn't worried about him - indeed he was going round the corner as I finished braking. Not sure if I pressed pedal too hard, or changed down early, but I unbalanced the car and I shot right and hit the kerb... and took off, landing in the side of Cookie on the other side of the corner..sorry. To make matters worse I misread Prib as I started, and didn't realise that Doni had the line for the next corner (thought you were the bloke in my mirrors..)..happily, I suppose, the contact threw me off the track and I lost several places, whilst Doni appeared to continue OK... sorry...

After that things settled down into good chases and position gains, not always due to me overtaking - a couple of people lost control and made it easy for me....unlike some of the back markers. I wasn't impressed with a couple of them tonight as they contested corners with me as I lapped them....

Last incident of the night came as I managed to mount a sustained campaign of pressure on Cookie as I caught him in the second half of the race. On L22 Cookie span at the trciky left/right at the end of the S/F straight, coming to rest at the entrance to T3. I had seen him spin, and slowed but of course the car was all over the place as it came to a halt. I was unlucky to have it break and stop right where I had tried to get past him, and it sent me into the outside wall at T3 ruining the suspension on my right hand side. I got away in front of Cookie, but there was no real way to keep him behind me, and he passed me before the flag dropped... at the end of the day a racing incident, but given I'll almost certainly lose a place for what I did to him on L1, I'll still feel a little hard done to, as I should have finished 4th on track....

Congratulations Iestyn and Jethro!

Iestyn ran away from me like I was at the back of the field! Excellent driving! I thought I might get a little tow that would help me keep pace with him early but the only slipstream I ever got from him was once in qualifying. I was lucky Jethro had so much trouble early in the race. I was trying to get the car into the 31s and making little mistakes that were putting in the high 32s. Jethro was gaining almost 2 seconds on some laps. When he was 15 seconds back, I could see he still had good chance to catch me before the race was over. He must have made another mistake and fell back to 20 seconds and knew there was no way for him to catch me then if I didn't wreck or spin. My race pace was rather lackluster but it was enough to get a good finish. What I had to do with the car to get into the 30s was impossible for me to do in the race without risking a bad wreck.

I missed you Rob. I expected you to be here to reduce the odds that I'd make it on the podium. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Sometimes, it's better to be lucky than good. That was all I really had today. I'm guessing Clive didn't practice much. I was surprised to qualify in front of you. I didn't get much practice but I don't think a lot of practice would have qualified me much better. It may have helped with my slow race pace though.

My commiserations to all the unfortunate drivers.

Take care guys. Thanks for letting me race with you.

I apologised above for the contact Fran and I apologise again here.
I was coming up to lap you. You were on the outside of the track so I took the inside line to pass. When you then switched to the inside and slowed significantly in anticipation of entering the pits I slammed into the back of you. But hey I'm not a mind reader and did not see that one coming! Sorry again that it ended your race because you had already taken a shift-r.

If your reading this Doni, sorry if you thought the pass was harsh on my part. I'm happy to let the mods sort that one out. Regardless I apologise if I spoilt your race in any way.

I have to sort my lap 1 and lap 2 stuff, as I'm losing way too much in the early stages which hampers later on. Lost a lot of time behind Doni and effected a pass down into the hairpin at the end of the Brabham straight. Had I not had the moment into Wakefield turn the outcome may have been a lot closer.
