Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

George -cg7aa- Cheeseman leads the race from start to finish in a Lotus. A very dominant display enabling him to win for the first time in UKGPL! Championship leader Phil Thornton finishes a solid second in another Lotus. A very impressive performance by Fabio -il lupo mannaro- Locarno in the Brabham to complete the podium in his homerace. Congratulations to all!

Sadly the race started with an incident when Bernie spun in Curva Grande and collected a couple of cars. There were no reported incidents.

Server replay time: 0h01m11s

After the start Billy Nobrakes goes slightly to the left when David Rainier blows up his engine. Bernie gets caught out when Billy lifts early before Curva Grande and goes left from Billy -trying to avoid him- touching the grass and spinning towards the inside of Curva Grande and spinning back on the track. Bernie collects some cars sadly, like Michael Turner and Paul -badblood- Whitfield who needs a reset. Jason Blito and Pierre Demarle did a great job avoiding the mess.

Advice - Bernie should be more cautious after the start even when Billy lifted quite early.

Server replay time: 0h04m18s

Fransesco does not come to a full stop serving his Stop & Go penalty. Incorrect pitstop.

Season 27 Privateers Trophy - Round 4 - Monza

The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a race track located near the city of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy.  Built in the Royal Villa of Monza park in a woodland setting, the circuit has gone through numerous changes over the years.  Perhaps the most striking feature in the park is the steep banked (sopraelevata) curves on the now defunct 10Km variant, first used in 1955.  The original circuit (used between 1922 and 1933) also had an oval section but the banked curves were not as wide or as steep as the later 1955 variant.  The banked circuit was used on four occasions for Formula 1 races; in 1955, 1956, 1960 and finally in 1961 when it was decided that Formula 1 cars were just too fast to be safe on the oval track.   The banked oval section was last used in any capacity in 1969.  From 1962 onwards, the Formula 1 Grand Prix was held on the "road circuit" which by the early 1970s was also deemed to be too fast for Formula 1 cars.  Two chicanes were introduced for 1972 Italian Grand Prix, one at the Ascari curve and another on the approach to the Curva Grande.  It is the 1960s road circuit without the chicanes that we will be using for tonight's race.

Driver lists and token rules can be found on the championship standings page

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated for lap 1 only. For this event the red zone will be from the start to the exit of Serraglio on the first lap. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

oh boy, this is not going too well...... Struggling with getting a decent setup here..... understeer and oversteer in the same corner.... so far I am way off the pace and very prone to sticking it into the bloody hedgerows!

Good luck Francesco!  Many times I say, you must connect the head to the foot, or the head explode. yes

Aha, Ok but many times is not good.  You give Enzo a testa rossa if you drive his cars this way.  I hope it is not too many 1967 lire to fix.  hammer

Early beer for me.

Had a real problem trying to get a 1st lap without crashing in qually/practice session;  was lucky to have (finally) managed a complete lap & 1:53 initially!
Laps then came together & was surprised with starting from 4th & lucking into 3rd early.  Then not so surprised at running out of road at Parabolica (someone should concrete that over!) & unfortunately not overly surprised when my DSL dropped out a few laps later.

Luckily there was no time wasted in practice;  just tokens...

Cheers,
Dave.

a cheap race for me - the copper costs hardly any tokens and is so damned stable it made the perfect car for my first GPL race in 18 months.
I quallied last, but only just, and took a careful start.  After picking my way through the carnage at T1 it was a case of just cruising round to the flag, not risking anything by trying to actually race any one. I drove an almost perfect, if a little slow race to blag 7th place and some points.
Overall, a very satisfying comeback race.

Quite a lonely race for me.  George was just too quick tonight.  I tried to stay with him on lap 1 but I had to give the Eagle behind me some room on the first few corners which just gave George enough time to get a gap and break the tow.  After that it was just a matter of waiting until George made a mistake which he never did.  Grats on the win George clap

Grats to Jason on a good finish in his comeback race thumbup2

My fears have become immediately tru,nor a lap.At the exit of the parabolica the first explosion.
After this the second (the manifold)more or less at the tenth lap.
What makes me angry is that during the qualification i have done about 20 laps without an explosion.

Parabollicup became a disaster area after I ran onto the grass and lost it trying to avoid Billy , Highlight of the race was wiping at least 4 competitors out including 100% of the soggie bottom team , and after I specifically asked for you all to go easy in T1  No further comment except to say will leave that one to the mods . Pretty lonely race after that , did my S/G then slowly ground my way back to P6 was glad to see the chequered finally .

Grats to the fast cats on the podium  Smiley

Exploding engines and spinning cars  - not a good start to the race.
After getting caught up in Bernie's episode I eventually managed to get myself pointing in the right direction but was left with wonky steering and an engine capable of a top speed of barely 170mph  - something of disadvantage at Monza.
I was eventually forced to reset and managed to finish the race with a few points in the bag.
