Think it will only be three Geoffers, as this is our wedding aniversary and for reasons of domestic harmony, and safety, I shall not be able to take part.   :'(

The PnG community really is an uncomunicative bunch.

If I don't put something outrageous on these threads for people to get up-tight about then nobody says anything!

Lively banter is what we need!

I was discussing this with a past GPL competitor recently and I think that the format for racing in GPL has a lot to do with its longevity.  In GPL, everyone meets in a lobby and exchanges setup tips and insults ahead of the race and then the server is launched.  After the race, GPL allows a long period of chat whereas PnG chucks everyone out for the next track.  And there is still the igor or Winroc chat room to go to.  There is much more of a community in GPL.

Sigh............Those were the days. Roll Eyes

Maybe we should book you for a guest appearance in the GPL chat room Clive. I'm sure that your rates are very reasonable Roll Eyes

Although, there still is a "gathering" pre and post race.
The quality of pre race abuse is not up to the inventive standards that I was weened on. Many drivers do hang around in chat ( or even stay on the server) ,to watch the outcome of a race from which they have had to quit because of an incident, and to discuss the result over a pie and a pint.

Regrettably sometimes, post race abuse is often just that, as emotions and subjective viewpoints often override the facts of an incident. I sometimes wonder if I have it wrong, thinking that we do this for fun, and that it a game?

offtopic But, I have often wondered why the GPL races don't use the same server as our other
sims? Was it something we said in the dark and distant past? We could use all the contributions we can get
these days.

Virginia is a nice track. Especially since it's merciful on your car, if it suddenly decides to go astray. My Vette tends to do so rather often  Grin

Well, interesting that you raise that question. Because we are having some issues with the server that we rent some space on (T7 in Italy I think?). It does seem a bit crazy that we share a forum and do not co-operate on server rental??

Over at UKGPL we have tried to resolve the problem with our members providing their own servers for our racers. But quite frankly you are probably talking to the wrong guy here ( ask Mr loynes about my computer skills!! Roll Eyes ).

Might I suggest that you PM Paul (aka Badblood) on the UKGPL forum and discuss possibilities with him. I will give him a heads up that you might be in touch.

Yeh, getting the car vaguely near the track for a whole lap is quite an accomplishment!  Shocked

Just being picky about the wording in the race announcement. Shouldn't it read "Top 3 drivers in the championship standings MUST drive Group B cars ONLY" rather than "may drive" which implies there is a choice?
