Moderator's Report

A report has been submitted regarding the late re scheduling of this race.
The start time was changed at short notice so that members could watch the US F1 race live on tv. From what I have gleaned from the forum and in exchanges with other mods, this was considered as acceptable by the majority of those registered for this race.
However, I can understand the frustration of those whose participation in the event was made impossible by this action.

The organisers and moderators draw up the timetable of all races at the beginning of each season, trying to fit in the maximum number of races to a limited number of available slots. Cancelling races is an absolute last resort and rarely happens. Re scheduling is preferable and as much prior notice as possible should be given on the forum.

It is almost inevitable that at least one race will clash with a major live televised event at some point in any season and all we can do is raise awareness of the possibility as early as possible and take a straw poll amongst members as to what we should do.

In this instance the result will stand.

Moderator's Report

The only incidents in this race were around Fran who appeared to have joined the race with 60fps activated. As a result his car appeared to be warping very badly from the other drivers viewpoints and caused many problems for cars trying to pass.
I think Fran has realised his mistake and hopefully next season such problems will not arise and everyone will be running 60fps for all races.

I'm checking in late for the dance, and it turns out that the dance is late.  I registered late as this track is one a driver can really get his teeth into - must remember to bring the roller skates for my helmet! Grin

The Austin F1 race will start 20:00 UK time (21:00 CET) and will last ~1:45 h. (2013 the race lasted 1:40 h)

I presume most of us want to watch F1 live...

So I propose to start our Qualification 21:45 UK time for 20 min, Race will start ~ 22:10 UK time

I agree Smiley

Hmmm...  Well, OK, Axel, but quite frankly, our F2 race is bound to be vastly more exciting than the GP.  Smiley

Bernie should have taken note of the time in the USA going back one hour, and hence, moving the F1 back one hour, to not interfere with our F2 race Roll Eyes.

On a serious note, I'm surprised they didn't move it back one hour, it seems a very late time for the GP, with it being so dark now that we are out of DST. Unless it allows Australia/Asia to watch in the early morning?

They need to plant a few trees around these modern tracks to add visual interest.   The substitute in Britain seems to be commentary from an expresso junkie, while the audio style in north America is very laid back.  I suspect GPL got things right in '98. Cheesy

Of coarse there are those of us who do not have the luxury of owning sky box's and therefore will be watching the GP "highlights" (assuming there are any worth watching in this age of artificial motor " racing " ) on "freeview" ( another misnomer,  as we all know there are no free lunch's these days )

Oh! hang on a mo .  GP highlights are being shown during the F2 race time  Roll Eyes

Hmmm ! my dilemma ,  watch GP?  or race this crummy track  ?

Axel,is not possible to start a 30min later?
And about all the incidents in the previous races? Is from the first race that i don't see a report.

The Austin F1 race will start 20:00 UK time (21:00 CET) and will last ~1:45 h. (2013 the race lasted 1:40 h)

Too late for me so will have to give this one a miss. Good luck to everyone else. For future reference any reason why we could not have stated before the Austin race? Particularly as I notice the practice server unusually popular right now while the Austin race is actually running Roll Eyes

By my timings, our F2 race will finish just after the BBC finish their pre-amble. I intend to have this over with by 22:40 at the latest.

BBC is online Bernie.  Pics not as large, but it's all available for 2hrs extra on a timeline slider.  BBC commentator is the one I described as over the Caffein limit, but it's also the fashion across the channel in ITV.  Mr. Brundle hinted at being pressured to add more hype, before going Skyward.  Hope the hype is not too hopped up there. This is bull****. People haven't discovered VCRs or whatnot (that people in the rest of the world have been using to deal with (to us) extreme early morning starts for F1 races and stuff) for decades??

It's not like the F1 schedule has been set for, what, a year? In advance? All public knowledge?

No, let's just "presume", not ask, what people want, and if pushing race start back an hour or more ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT IN QUESTION will be, perhaps, an INCONVENIENCE for people who have already scheduled the rest of their lives around a start time, well, just too bad for them because I wants to watch my racing liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive.

edit: I'm out of time, can't race now, got other stuff that I committed to when I thought this would be over by 5:30 my time, and don't want to be rude not showing up ON TIME. So have fun!!!

edit2: how do I lodge a protest against the entire event?

Got a screenfreeze after losing it under braking into T1, with about 17 laps to go. Was a fun race until then, but lost confidence while bottoming out towards T2, doing a 360, and car was rather unstable under braking...

Was fun racing with Greg and Iestyn up front Wink
