Brands Hatch - TVR/Elan

Too bad Postal was sick (good recovery)...& Bill 2 with a CTD (race #2). I must admit, I & Bill 1 (?) Got a shock when you were parked in the middle of the track in a hard turn...luckily it went almost ok.  Cool

I was lucky in either race, but it was a tough switching from TVR for Elan, almost the same lap times...but very different cars  Cheesy
A little fun before the race I press this: Be 1st at T1...& so did Bill 1  Grin

Now we are talking about Bill...I spoke with Bill (Gates) & we built a new computer car to Bill 2  laugh

Thanks for a really fun day at Brands Hatch & Grats to you all.
Big thanks to our TEAM-GTLDK...damn, we're good  Cheesy

Thanks, nice livery. Cool

A great choice of cars and track. I found these 2 cars a real handful, mainly because they were so different, just as Pelle has already said.

The first race was great fun as I tried to keep my Elan in touch with 3 bellowing TVRs on front, but by half distance it was clear that Pelle and Bill G were way too fast for me. Erling was still in sight and laying some impressive rubber lines through the corners, so maybe he was struggling just a little? and if I could get closer I might be able to add to his problems. The he got thing a bit wrong at Paddock Hill and performed a long slow motion spin with immense amounts of blue smoke ( presumably to hide his embarrassment?), so I turned on the headlights and picked my way through the murk and stole 3rd spot.

The change in driving style between the nimble Elan in the 1st race and the brutal TVR in the second race really caught me out and it took all of qually and the first 4 laps of the race to begin to settle in. The unfortunate disco of Bill that left his car parked on the apex of the bend into Dingle Dell was a nasty shock but actually did me a favour as it allowed me to close the gap to the 2 fast guys ahead. So that when Bill G ran wide at the Esses a lap or two later I was close enough to take the chance and steal 2nd place. The rest of the race was a defensive drive, just trying to wrestle the TVR into the corners and use the power to out drag Bill's Elan down the straights. I tried to keep it fair...hope that I did, but it got a bit hairy at times.

Sorry to hear about Bill2's ongoing problems with his freezes/disco. It does sound an awful lot like AV updating/kicking in, but then I know zilch about computers. I use a small programme called "Enditall" before each race session that shuts down every other programme that is not needed. I can e-mail this if it helps?

Thanks Clive, I'd like to give Enditail a go.  My email address is on my SimRacing profile page.

I thought these races were a load of fun and certainly had a few adventures driving both of the cars.

Really wondering how the other circuits will pan out. It seemed like Brands had the right number of turns and straights to match these cars quite well. Some future tracks may offer an advantage to one make over the other but then the challenge is to make the most you can of the weaker car.

Anyway Mallory Park next, hope to see you all there.

If that should be the case, it's probably more or less evened out, since we all have to drive both cars at each event - unless of course if some of us are complete klutzes in one of the cars..  Cheesy

Cheers,
Erling
