Championship Standings here

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (10 mins)
Race 1: 20:30 (10 laps)

Practice (Car change): ~20:50 (10 mins)
Qualifying: ~21:00 (10 mins)
Race 2: ~21:10 (10 laps)

Track: Brands Hatch GP Download this

Cars allowed: Lotus Elan, TVR Griffith 400. (Drivers must change makes for Race 2).

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops: Not required

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Note early race start time! Drivers shall not change cars during qualifying.

Tony, you've provided a download link, although Brands Hatch is part of the original GTL tracks.  Is it the 'EarlyBrands' we're using ?

When I try to download, I find that I already have before, and the only other Brands I can find in my locations folder is 'EarlyBrands'.

Brands Hatch is not an original GTL track. You need the non Early Brands track which contains two versions, the GP and the Indy.

Really ?   I've had it for so long, I could have sworn it came with the original game.  I take it it's the GP version we're on then ?

I downloaded and have just tried the GTL Brands Hatch GP track. I liked the GTR2 version I used in P&G but am not sure about this one. My first impressions were the kerbs are coated with silicone grease and most of the corners have oil on them. The TVR wants to change ends under acceleration and the Lotus does the same thing under breaking. I found that driving on the beach gets rid of the oil from the tyres and driving slowly keeps the cars off the beach. I started fiddling with the set up (not something I'm good at) and began to get better results. I think some serious time in setting these cars up is required... Should be an interesting race.   Smiley

Lol, that's a very apt description of these two cars  Cheesy

Always been fond of the TVR, although it can be a bit of a handful, but have never really become friends with the Elan, with its propensity to snap oversteer.  Not going to be easy switching between these two..  Smiley

Just tried these cars and, as usual for me, it was a first time out in them.

The TVR is an awesome beast and what a handful!!! and on the car that I was driving someone had disconnected the brakes I'm sure!!!

The Elan felt more refined and yet, after a few laps, both cars were turning in similar lap times??!!  If you had asked me to place a bet on which was fastest ( for me) it would have to be the Elan, as it at least felt like I had some control over where we were going.
With the TVR it is like lighting the blue touch paper out of each corner and hanging on with your eyes shut, just hoping that you can somehow slow down before the next bend and keep the animal pointing in the right direction.  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

As it has already been said......"should be an interesting pair of races"  Roll Eyes

Nowthen

I bought a new Graphics card last week - Nvidia GTX760, mostly so I could run Elite Dangerous in more than 800x600
It runs P&G fine, and ancient games like Battlezone 1, but when I try to run GTL it goes to the GTL config screen
and returns there every time. I thought I had run it when I 1st installed the card, but perhaps not.
I have tried reinstalling the drivers that came with the card but no diference.
I have tried all the variations on the options - DX7,8,9 all resolutions, anti alias yes no, frame sync etc
I can refit my old AMD card temporarilly, but need to get GTL running with this new one really.

@ Matt. I've read about this recently in a Steam thread. Hand on and I'll try to get the answer.

EDIT: Two fixes seem to work. Run the 3D Config as Admin and/or update graphics drivers.

+1 for the run as Admin - I had a similar problem when I changed my video card last year.  No matter how many times I ran the 3D config, it wouldn't save my settings, until I ran it as admin.

Brands will ever be a love-hate relationship for me  Grin

One second faster in the Elan but the TVR is more fun.
Will be a kind of a lottery to see the chequered flag in both races  Undecided
