You can choose it if you want to but you won't be racing the rest of us in it. Only the cars listed in the race announcement are available online.

I just did my first few laps around this track in GTL guise tonight to check that the d/loaded circuit works OK, nowhere near a setup or race pace yet.  Jeez!, I have not even thought about which car to use, and just took the Javelin 'coz it was top of the list..

I discovered the "cut track" warning too on the first lap. I discovered it on the second lap too!!.  Undecided

It seems it is not the yellow cones that are considered as the track limit, but the slight change in colour of the tarmac 10 metres inside the row of cones!!!   eek eek  In other words, this track is a lot narrower than it looks, especially around turns 1 & 2, where it is easy to be lured in by all that open space.

Yes I have same problem with warnings with car within the marker cones -  cones if they are meaningless, why have them. Huh Will have early bath or be even slower than normal - no pleasure to drive/race. Roll Eyes

A rubbish race for me.  Must have found every track cut going, had three stop and go penalties. censored I usually don’t get any track cuts.

Went with the default set up but with longer gears.  Should have made time for more practice I think to sort the car and learn the track cuts. stupid It looked an easy track.

Grats winner and podiums. clap

good race spoiled by poor cut track placement.

After tiring weekend the inconsistency of the track cuts and yellow cones that were not on the track limits were too much for me.  Exiting corners on the wide straights you got no warning for driving beyond the cones but a 100 yards further along just touching white line gave a track cut warning! (Even on the long straights the cones were a yard or so back from the line, as I said earlier "if they are meaningless why have them?")

+1 - got my first stop and go when beginning lap three ( two of the three cuts were due to nothing in my opinion) and quitted because I totally lost motivation although I like this version of Sebring which urgently requires revision.

Trying to upload results tonight Cool

Yes. The track's inability to calculate cut corners in a consistent manner was eventually my downfall, too.

On corners where I inadvertantly almost had all 4 wheels over the white line, no warning was given yet, on lap 10 I think, when I strayed no more than a 1/4 of the car's width, I was immediately given a SnG. I havn't had one of those online, or offline for that matter, for about 8 years!

I'm just glad that this is the only track I've raced on that cannot decide where its own boundaries are, and as previous posts have mentioned, the track is in need of some revision. With a race track using an airfield you are going to get wide run-offs, but I feel that a bit of good old-fashioned armco barrier keeps the mind more focused!

On hindsight, I think the track beat me psychologically. On the corners that I did cut but didn't get a warning, I allowed my concentration to wander as I looked frantically for the warning that never came, or worried that I had missed it, resulting in two "offs" losing one or two places each time. But these excursions at the end of the day were down to my driving, so perhaps I just need to focus more in the future.

Well done to those who kept their race going to the end.

PS. I wasn't expecting to get points for being disqualified?

I received a cut at turn 8 on one of the early laps so after that I tried to be smooth through all of the turns and avoiding crossing the white lines. I think the cones were just eye candy and that it was the white lines that you had to be wary of. Anyway we will probably have to avoid this track in the future  Sad

@ Steve, do you know why you received a DQ. The results show you finished 12 laps?

Next race in this series is at Mid-Ohio so couldn't be more different to Sebring.

Basically an enjoyable race, but marred by too many mistakes.

Could only manage 6th on the grid, despite new pb - this crowd is really too fast...  Cool

Was trailing Matt on L1, as we approached the sharp, 1st gear right hander. Thought I erred on the side of caution by braking early, but Matt's car still shed speed at a much faster rate than mine. Panic mounting as I desperately tried to stop. Either I hit him or else I throw my car to the side. Picked the gentlemanly latter option, but putting two wheels on the grass under maximum braking resulted in a spin.

Rejoined last, but passed Tony when he ran wide. As we entered the long(est) straight, he was lining up an attack. After some slipstreaming, he managed to outbrake not only me, but himself too Wink. That allowed me to steal back the position, with a classic 'dive under' manoeuvre.  Squeezed past Misnoimis at the start of the next lap and then had Doni in my sights.  When I got close, I focused too much on his car and completely missed my braking point at the final turn. Had to go grass cutting on the inside, flew across track to cut some more grass on the outside. Didn't lose any places, but had to repeat the hard work of reeling him in again.  Did a 'Tony' on him down the same straight, but managed not to take myself out at the corner.

With a wary eye on Doni in the mirrors, I now chased Steve for what seemed like an eternity. He finally made a small mistake at T3, losing enough momentum for me to get past at the start of the S-curves.  Was chasing Bob after this. Much impressed by the speeds he extracted from the Challenger, so I couldn't really do anything.

Next Flash interfered, apparently working his way through the field after some delay. I was in 6th both before and after he passed me, which had me scratching my head.  Wondered if he was a lap back (in retrospect very unlikely, on such a long track) Fumbled for my IFF button, to turn on player tags, with position.  Accidentally hit 'forward' on my view hat, promptly losing my cockpit view Shocked  Desperately searched for the right keyboard button to reactivate it, and missed my braking point at T3, spinning off.  Was probably lucky only to lose one position, to Doni, but still...  taz taz censored

Chased Doni again, when he pulled into the pits, and I again had Bob up ahead.  Wasn't successful in rattling his cage when I was right at his bumper, so doing it from 100 meters back, on the final lap was unlikely, and I thus had to settle for 6th.  Grats to the podium and all who made it to the finish.

Sad to see Bill and later Kurt leave in frustration.  The seemingly random cut track warnings were indeed a nuisance, but with care they could be negotiated.

Cheers,
Erling

Having read all the comments on the track cut locations on this track I find myself in total agreement with all of them.  yes

In my case it is not so much of an excuse because I had a busy week and had not done sufficient practice or research to identify where the track cuts were. (Monday’s are the only night I race). However they did seem to be put in the most illogical places. It seemed at times I had taken the same line as on the previous lap but received a warning.  nono As the race went on I was beginning to feel booby trapped and totally lost interest (three S&G’s).  yawn

Maybe tracks like these should come with a health warning.  hang Looking forward to Oulton next week as I know this is a fair track.   thumbup1

Damn cut track warning. I agree with all your comments guys.

Report race:

Good qualy, but unreachable Pelle. I did start in 2nd place. I kept this place but a made a mistake (damn grass) and I lost many places. After that, tried to gain positions. Good battles with Bob, clive and Flash. When I recovered the 2nd place my teammate Pelle had 20 seconds of gap and I had 2 warnings. So, my only chance was no made mistakes and kept the 2nd place.
Great result for GTLDK-TEAM.  Grin

Grats Pelle and clive for the pod.

Thanks all for racing.

Cheers!

Yes, carried a SnG to the finish line from lap 10.
