Track: Oakes Field Download this

Time of Day Setting: 13:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: x2

Server: simracing.org.uk Mondays
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: No start lights. Advise switching on in-game countdown.

Some really nostalgic images there, Kurt. Makes me want to drive there again. Any set of wheels would do Cool. The two best pictures? Stirling with Steve, what a combination and I'm wondering what particular event brought them together that day. My other favourite - image 19, the mechanic in high heels nono

When entering pits for refuelling etc go to the right of the pit chief (cross the yellow line). He won't notice you if you go to the left.

This pit lane has a speed limit of 80KPH (50MPH). I'm suspicious that the pit lane speed limiter isn't working but I need to test this. It works but I could do 60MPH with no penalty  Huh

I decided to take the Maser 450S 5.71 monster for this race. It has a massive speed advantage but is not so hot on the corners thanks probably to my set up. This made for some interesting racing for me and I had some good battles.

All was going OK until my tyres started going off. I should have dived into the pits, I had the chance but I stayed out an extra lap and paid the price, I span.

I lost places so I was now racing different drivers. After a dodgy out lap on cold tyres I started to get going and was having a good battle with FLA$H, occasionally passing him on a straight and getting re-passed on the corners.I was trying to work out where to try to pass him to stay in front for the finish. This turned out to be a bit optimistic. With a couple of laps left my tyres literally went off the cliff as they say in F1. Probably caused by chasing FLA$H too hard through the corners and spinning the tyres up out of them. I think I discovered the true meaning of “taking the  Maser for a Spin” or multiple spins in my case. I plummeted down the finishing order realising that it would have been a good idea to do a long practice stint and find out what the Maser was like on shot tyres. A bit late now but something to bare in mind for future long races.

Thanks to all and grats to Coyote who showed how the Maser monster should be driven and grats to podiums.  clap
