Replays and results now posted

Bill Thomas is disqualified from Race 1 for using an illegal car choice.

I really must be more careful with my mouse and obviously reason why I had handing problems using 911 GTU setup and problem with start.  Apologies to driver behind me for my start screw up.

No problem Bill, I turned up without any practice & a new car, it was never going to be a success.

About Bill's car choice, something is awry with the results, Bill was definitely in a 911 not a 914! Well it was certainly a 911 with Bill's name above that took root at the start. Huh

Watched Bill Thomas in a 911 during qualy too.

Two smooth ones for me - new pb's in both heats.
Second heat was a bit of a gambling - decided spontaneously to choose the Datsun in order to save one race for the 914,
and used an online setup found but never tested. During the race it went better and better and in the final stage I came
closer to Bob but was unable to reach respectively to pass him. Anyway - great pleasure to run with a working setup.  Smiley

Thanks to all involved for organizing.

Good news if Bill was in a 911. I'll check the replay tonight. Thanks for the heads up Geoffers.

A mixed bag of results for me last night.

In brief, very surprised to find myself with pole position race one, and even more surprised with a Q2 in the Datsun second race. Those positions were quickly lost though, not because of driver error (for a change) but because my game controller decided not to respond to a right hand request ( and continued straight on and off the track), once in the first race and twice in the second race, despite me having changed game controllers after race one. Interestingly, I think two of those three occurred at exactly the same place. New controllers were ordered straight after the last race.

Anyway it meant I had some nice tussles with drivers nearer the back, although very sorry Tony for my late braking and nudging you the way I did, as you know, very out-of-character of me.

Well done to those who did keep it all together and grats to De Martini and Fla$h for their wins.

No probs Steve, just a racing incident IMO. I wasn't having a great night anyway so.............

Thought I had a nice setup for the Beemer at this twisty little track but soon found out that in race mode, after a few laps of enthusiastic drifting thru the turns, the rear left lit up like Rudolf's nose with the front left keen to join it. Once this occurred the handling fell away and so did I, often. Entertaining races tho which I enjoyed.

Wonderful track, but races were quite a mixed bag.  Didn't have 2 drives left in any car, so had to change between races. Went for the two Porkers, as they were probably the most similar.

Race 1:
Regrettably, during qualifying I couldn't match the new pb I just set in praccy. It would have been quick enough for pole, but instead I was 5th on the grid.  Held that pos. for the first few laps, and inherited 4th when Steve ran wide.  Had Flash in hot pursuit, and when I made a small mistake, he was past in, well.. a flash.. Smiley

Few laps later he spun, handing me back 4th. Next passed Maipor at the end of the straight.  Held on to 3rd for the rest of the race, although it got a bit too exiting on the last lap, after Flash had caught me again. Only managed to stay ahead by a hair's breadth.  Bit surreal also to lap Jose in the 2nd half of the race - guess he must have stopped for coffee somewhere..  Smiley

Race 2:
If race 1 was great, then race 2 was a complete farce.  Again couldn't match my pb in qualy, and found myself midfield. Almost avoided the mayhem at T1 on L1, but just as I thought I had cleared the spinning cars, someone knocked me into a spin and down to 10th.  Made up a few places through others misfortune, and soon found myself together with Maipor in a sandwich between the screamin' Mazdas of Bob and Jose.

Again passed Maipor at the end of the straight, albeit rather more clumsily this time. Apologies for the rude pass Maipor. I had poked my nose too far up the inside of your car, and was in trouble when you turned in towards the corner. Had to veer right to avoid hitting you, which put me on the grass and sliding past, while glancing your car.

Next made it past Bob and was in 5th. Just as I was enjoying the blissful silence after having escaped the Mazdas, I screwed up at the jump. Lost the rear and spun up the hill.  That dropped me back to 9th - and behind the screamers again, 'sigh'.  Passed Clive when he spun and later Bob, now 6th.

Chased Jose as hard as I could the next many laps. His car was warping a fair bit, which was worrying when I got real close - not quite sure exactly where it was and afraid of hitting him. Inherited 5th when Matt went wide a T1, and later 4th after De Martini had a moment.

On the final lap, Roger started spinning in front of me.  I steered clear of his car and was looking at a very plausible 3rd place, when De Martini slammed into Roger, tossing his car back in front of me, so I couldn't avoid a collision after all. That dropped me back to 5th, when Matt also went past.  I could reclaim 4th when he had a moment at the jump, but then I lost the rear myself, squeezing both our cars onto the grass; sorry about that Matt.  Tried desperately not to spin, as I was bumping over the grass, but to no avail.  Ended up at the edge of the track, facing the wrong way.  Got hit by Roger at full tilt.  Thus in a few corners, I went from an almost certain podium place, to limping across the line in 6th, with a flat tyre.  Won't deny that was disappointing.

Grats to the podiums in both races, and thanks to those I lapped; all were very helpful.  Thanks also to Tony for organising.

Cheers,
Erling

Last week we had the roof replaced on our house, and I was somewhat distracted by builders etc, so I had no preparation for these races and it showed. I was struggling in both races  to even keep 4 wheels on the grey stuff.
Having looked at the replay of race 2 my worst fears were confirmed.....

Public apology for the T1 carnage is required. oops It is pretty obvious that I nudged Tony's rear end and sent him across the track and into the pack. That caused a knock on effect and many cars were taken out.

Sorry guys  Sad

Eventually my driving ( and the car) deteriorated so much I decided to quit, rather than become a hazard.

Hopefully the building work will be over soon and I can get back to the important things in sim life!!

 Grin Grin Grin

I did not practice for this track and I chose the Mazda because it was the best option to not lose many points.
I soon seen that was far from the top 5. So I tried not to make mistakes, but soon I made one and broke some of the suspension. I also realized I did not get to finish with the current fuel, so I had to slow down. considerably.

The second race was all much better and fun, a lot of overtaking, lots of action and lots of luck. Very surprised by the 2nd place.

Thanks Kurt for the results!

Greetings from Tuscany. (I'm in holidays)

As I posted in a early thread I took the dreaded Mazda on this twisty little track.  Spent a lot of time working on a setup, but come race time it really wasn't too bad of a out come for me.  Started from the back as I decided to use the auto clutch option because I had trouble down shifting, and wheel hop I guess, making it very dangerous.  Cut down my lap times a little but much safer and consistent.  In R1 the car didn't want to turn in very good so had to kindof crawled around the sharp corners. Had one big off in R2 coming over the jump, got crossed up and over corrected, but just went into the weeds on the right without any damage.  Lost only one position I think.  All in all good fun!  Saved the Z car for Mexico and the 911 for Daytona.....

Thanks for the race all
