Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 28

Track: Goodwood GP Circuit Download this

Cars allowed: Aston Martin DBR1 Download this, Jaguar D-Type (1955 version only) Download this, Mercedes 300SL Download this, Austin Healey 100 Download this

Drivers are reminded that they are limited to only three drives with each make. Check your status HERE

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (30 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

Great site Postal.
And a great race to look forward to at Goodwood. It will have to be the D type after watching those cars racing at the Goodwood revival back in September, they were awesome beasts. Although the handling did look a little suspect for some of them lol!!

Well it looks unlikely to be track or car related as it's a different track/car each time. You may have something running in the background that's effecting GTL? I have some software called Gamefire that turns off all background programs. Maybe you could try that out?

PS Thanks for the email  Wink  I'm sure the other regulars would appreciate the same.

Are we allowed either of the Mercedes CSL, I have a CSL LM55 as well.

EDIT:
Actually, just done a few laps in each, and the Merc LM55 is way too fast for the others.
I can do low 1:26 in jag and DBR1, 1:27.4 in Healey, and 1:24.7 in the LM55 Merc.

I've never run in windowed mode so don't know if this was the problem. Let's hope it was.

Sound like your recovering well; Happy New Year.

There is no Merc CSL so I'm guessing you mean the Merc SL. The standard one is not used but the LM55 mods are (No's 53, 54 & 55).

Yes they are the fastest car at Goodwood in my test's too....so will it be a Mercedes fest  shifty

EDIT: Just checked some times after praccy this pm and I'm faster than the Merc in my chosen make  Tongue

After reading your post I propped my eyelids open with matchsticks and downloaded and tried the cars.

Merc is indeed 2 secs a lap quicker in my hands than the others. But as this series requires us to use all the cars twice, it is a choice that you have to make.

Is this the best place to use the best car?

BTW. when i first set up ( OK lets be honest, not so much set up but beat around with a rusty iron bar until it worked!) GTL I had numerous issues, mostly related to the car sets. As a result I seem to have several folders in the :-
C:\GT Legends\GameData\Teams  area that have some very strange mixes of cars in them.

This probably explains my inability to join the recent Rouen race as I did not have some of the cars required, even though they were apparently the default cars loaded with the original game. I am thinking of saving my Locations,  and setups folder to a remote location and re-installing the game to re-instate the standard carsets before overwriting the locations and setups with my own files. Then download the cars again as required for future races.

When I download a new car from the link on the race announcement post I just point it at C:\GT Legends and let it do it's thing.   But a) how does it know which folder to place it in... and b)... does it matter where it eventually ends up as when i start GTL there are what appears to be all of the cars that exist on my PC available anyway??

Dave creates the installer to put the car set in the correct class etc so no worries for you.

Ok, Thanks Tony. Not sure I want to do a full 40 mins race at the moment, but I am amusing myself doing a few laps at forthcoming events.
Still trying to figure the least demanding yet fun way to run the P&G series. I used to be undecided......

Just had my first outing in the Aston.  The noise that thing makes, makes my eyes water  tt1

Tony, we need a 'stick-with-the-same-car-all-season-as-long-as-it's-not-the-Merc' mode.  As long as I can listen to that glorious howl, I practically don't care about my results..  Cheesy

I fully agree with you Erling - result doesn't matter, it's just the car respectively lots of the LM55 cars

I'll take the Aston at Goodwood  Grin

Same for me - I'm either a genius in the other cars, or I suck majorly driving the Merc.  I'm afraid I know which explanation is the more plausible...  Grin
