hi guys

that was real good fun, and very fair gentleman-driving. hats up!
first time I drove the mazda. (in gamers-crib league we drive only gtc65 cars, so no experience for me with 76 cars)
that "wankel"-monster was very nice, gave me good consitence, I liked it much to drive...................except that megasound from exhausters, chainsore sound. I had to lower my headphone-loudness.
In the end of race 1 found myself on 4th. damn porkas................. Grin
race 2 good start, on 4th again, but then one mistake, into the sand and back to end of grid. but then some very nice laps trying to get some better place.

As I said: real good fun with you guys, I´m looking forward next race.

thxs 4 fun and racing
hayman

LOL Clive  Grin
...& Hayman, look in Report  Wink

This was not my day, but I said it before because I had a hard race sunday - (I start to pour water out of the ears) funny enough, a track we almost have run, Pau 67...but this was 50 laps with 3xpit & I ended only number 3 wacko

Race 1
I would save 240Z for later & I hate to run Porsche...bumbum, elections were Mazda...a car I - now - hate even more, not to speak of sound  Roll Eyes
...but the race was fun, unfortunately was Mazda not so easy to get to behave as I would have it and therefore lost qual in Race 1. Incredible at some point I'm number 2 & have a good battle with Lobo...& it saddest, TEAM-GTLDK could be 1-2-3...but I muck it up & drove the last two laps on 3 wheels :'(
Grats Steve, Lobo & MaiPor

Race 2
Nothing to write home about, but at the last minute to change the setup for race 2...for the worse. The car is too ligth rear & too much coaust meant that when I went into first gear...rear wheels locked too much.
Grats Lobo, MaiPor & Clive

...& thanks to you all for good entertainment  thumbup1

Pelle, I have changed one word in your report. WT

Apologies to Pelle, and Jose must try harder!! ( but maybe not too hard, coz he is fast enough already!!)

Dont worry Clive!  Wink I think that with porka is possible to run 1.38-1.39 but don't had many time for practice. Only 2 hour before the race did a few laps in server.
Fortunelly I knew so much the track and was easy make a stable setup.

The start of 1st race was bad. Maipor and steve overtook me and I made a mistake in the first corner. Go down to last place I think.
Push hard and I recovered many places until catched my teammate Pelle (good battle mate). 3rd place for me. But MaiPor made a mistake and finally 2nd.

The start of 2nd race was normal and I kept the 1st place all race. Happy for the results.

Grats Steve, Marc and Clive for the pod!

Cheers!

Wish I could get to grips with Laguna Seca! It's a track that I know from many, many laps but it still beats me up. Knew I'd be driving Pork and decided to switch between cuts for each race. Went full fat in the first race and started well enough but soon found out that my setup had introduced a very light steery feel which made the car either not feel like it was going to turn when required, or would suddenly bite and try to spin around. Hence I was passed by everyman and his dog.
Race two and I chose Porky light. But whilst the steering control was better I kept being caught out by the braking point for turn 1. Lap after lap I was digging myself out of the sticky sand trap.
Could do better.

Great to see the grid filling up Guy's  thumbup1 If Matt and Bill Thomas were present we would of been up to sixteen! WOW  Shocked

And the noise a grid full of Mazda's make.....jeez. Couldn't hear my cars engine at all on the run to turn 1.

BTW plans for Season 16 are well underway and I can disclose that the Mazda will be returning  shifty

Good fun time for me.  First race was pretty non-eventful for me just did my usual thing of driving the track and  avoided other people's mishaps. Finished around my normal position at the back.  Second race I made a big mistake and started messing with the brake bias.  Should have left well enough alone.   Got the 914 really crossed up going down the hill into T1 and almost took out someone else in mid corner.  Sorry about that.   Hit the wall and screwed up the suspension badly.  Decided to limp back to the pits and put the crew to work on the repair.  Lost a couple of laps, but finished anyway........In last place of course.  Good fun anyway, your format is a learning experience for us GC guys but a challenge is good.  Going to try to twist the arms of a couple of other guys over there and try to get them to join in......Next week is the "Old Crocks" that should be really a challenge.   Thanks for the races!!!!

Great to have you with us Bob and as long as your having a good time then it's all worth the effort.

Would love to see more of your mates on a Monday night. Please spread the word.

Down with flu all weekend and Monday too, so didn't get anywhere near my normal prep before these races. Not really fit to race either, but just wanted to make an appearance and scrounge a few points for the championship.

Don't like Laguna Seca, but at least all our recent visits here turned out to be an advantage, as I didn't need to learn a new track too.  Mazda was the only car I had tried before I got sick, so had to be it for the races, difficult or not..  Cool

Race 1:
Never got a good lap in qual, so far down the field on the grid - not that I could have matched the front runners in any way, even at my best.  Made up some places early on and was 5th briefly, but lost a couple of places to faster drivers.  Was in 7th when I accidentally bumped Tony - sorry about that.  Went into the gravel and down to 11th.  Had a battle with Bob and Roger over a number of laps, but eventually got away.  Back to 7th, when I passed a spun Postal.  A move by him on the following lap sent me into a spin, and triggering more events, ultimately down 5 places, to 12th.  Postal handed me back the position he could, but that still left 4. Not enough time left to make that up, so finished 8th - went from 10th to 8th on the final meters of the race, when I outdragged Tony and Bob, so a hectic finish  Smiley

Race 2:
Saw Tony's message about qual starting at 21:00 GMT.  Did a practice lap and then returned to pits, waiting for qual.  21:00 (22:00 in my case) came and went.  Minutes were ticking away, with no 'next session', no messages by others, and no one going out on track.  Increasingly puzzled, I suddenly noticed that my router was void of activity.  Strange, the game gave me no indication of a lost connection.  Rejoined in the final moments of qual, and only just had time for one timed lap, on half cold tyres.

Thus another grid pos far down the field.  Most unusual, it was for once me who outdragged Clive at the start  Grin - only to promptly loose the position again, when I went onto the gravel on the right..  cursing  Went from bad to complete muck up, when I next spun at T1. Car wasn't damaged, and shouldn't have all that much dirt on the tyres, but it still refused to turn at T2, instead burying me deep in the gravel.  By the time I got out, I was very much last!  Made up a few places during an otherwise unremarkable race, to finish 9th.

Grats to podiums in both races, and nice to see such large grids  yes

Cheers,
Erling

Well you said this, Erling...because I was so exhausted so I've almost forgotten already...what I did yesterday.  Roll Eyes
The last thing I saw was like you: 21:00 GMT...I spent time on smoke & Coke & thought...unbelievable, time passes slowly. Jumped in the car...but I was alone on Seca? No indication of 'Lost Connection' & took a rejoin. When I got on the server again, I said: Lost Sad

Disastrous event for me after I had achieved a new PB in free practice ( 1:43.8 ) and felt really confident.
Two 13th places  Embarrassed  In the first heat I felt like I was in a different car on a different track  Huh,
2nd heat was better (using the same setup than in the first one) but some individual faults let
me drop back to next-to-last position  Sad So this was the RX-3 for this season.  Tongue

See you next week at Rouen !
