Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (26 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

I have been to the Goodwood Revival for the past 3 years and they run a race at dusk on the Friday evening for cars such as these. The race is usually about an hour long and timed so that the cars just about need their headlamps for the last 20%. The race is run to remember these endurance races of the 50's and 60's, and the sounds and sights of these cars thrashing around Goodwood sets up the whole weekend.

Can't wait for this year...tickets and accommodation already booked  Wink

If you like cars from the 50's and 60's and want to see them really racing, not just parading around, then get yourself down to the Revival!!    https://grrc.goodwood.com/goodwood-revival/best-coverage-goodwood-revival-2014-words-pictures-video#TmYuDmPJBHb9IpB2.97

Thanks Clive  Smiley

There's a nice vid on that page - ok it's motorcykling, but who cares:

https://grrc.goodwood.com/goodwood-revival/video-ride-along-with-mike-the-bike-hailwood-at-spa

I'm still looking for historic motorcycle pics and vids from the Nordschleife. There's a lot about car racing but
I couldn't find anything about motorcycling on the Nordschleife yet.

Yes, I understand what you mean Tony, it does look "wrong" somehow and not quite in period. But there is something very atmospheric seeing these great cars actually racing and exchanging paint samples. Plus of course, the sounds are awesome and each car is different, so unlike modern F1.

If any of you reading this who like the older cars (and motorbikes) has not been to the Revival ( as opposed to the Festival of Speed ) and wants to see iconic cars from before 1966 at 100% commitment on a great circuit....get your ticket and enjoy.
There are a few of us hard core GPL'ers who try and go every year for the whole weekend, and one or two who make a daytrip. We all meet up and enjoy a beer and bacon roll or two, whilst drooling over the machinery and exchanging banter about our simracing exploits.

I go to the Goodwood Revival Meeting, usually for one day only, a great event. I have not been for the past few years but hope to make it again this year. I remember watching many of the same cars racing there first time round. For anyone interested in historic motor racing it is not to be missed. I watched much of it live on-line last year.

I will give this week’s Sim race a miss. I have not resolved my slipping G27 peddle unit issue yet. I remembered that I had a mat in my loft. It turns out to be thicker and rubber backed so it should be more suitable to use than the one I had put down to save ware on the carpet.

The mat is partly placed under a heavy computer desk set up. Unfortunately due to the sudden onset of good weather in southern England I have put my dodgy back out and am now having physio. Too much golf and gardening too soon is to blame.

I don’t want to risk making the  back worse so when its fit I will try a new setup and also get a pair of thin soled slippers so I can tell what’s going on with the peddle unit. I don’t think it would be fair to possibly compromise someone else’s race by risking another race with this setup.

Hope all enjoy their race and should see you in two weeks.  Smiley

Sorry to hear about your back troubles. Seems to be a common complaint amongst sim-racers  Huh

Look forward to your return when your fighting fit, meanwhile don't overdo it ok?

oooo! back pain is not good and needs treating with respect. I trust that you are being well rested and cared for, and that the "domestic nursing care" will soon have you fit and well for simracing.  Roll Eyes

Maybe we should register "Simracer's Back Pain" as a genuine syndrome by the BMA? Perhaps then, the general public would understand the stress and effort we go through for our sport and the Lottery Fund would give out sponsorship money to us to allow full time training?? I wonder which of the candidates wanting my vote for the upcoming general election would back the idea??

Just a thought................................ whistling

lol Yep, bad backs are no fun so I’m doing all the right things now having done too many wrong things the previous week. It is strange how many Simracers suffer. An hour or more in the hot seat doesn’t help a dodgy back.

I’ve plenty of incentive to get the back better quickly though, the last time I had physio the physiotherapist was a young female. wub This time it’s a fifty year old male. Nice guy but…   Roll Eyes

Tell me about it but I find some back exercises help to keep it in check, it also helps to loosen the muscles.  No lockups like I use to get - had to sell my BMW 1800 iS Saloon,  :'(  almost sitting on the floor in a sports wrap around seat, I couldn't get out sometimes on my own - wife had to literately lift and pull me out while I suffered! surrender censored

Like my old mum use to say "old age is a tragedy".  rockon

Tick off one more member of the 'bad back' society...   Sad

Sorry to hear about your troubles misnoimis.  Hope you get well soon, and can get the pedal issue sorted too.

Cheers,
Erling
