Do the servers here have a way to access online practice times? Just wondering

hi

uff, hard pressure for me. pain in the back. and with this many close laps with Jose. good slipstream-action. I think I would not have stand the whole race with that Jose-pressure  Roll Eyes
but it was excelent fun, close, very close and fair, very fair.

greets hayman

Damn, damn damn, cursing I was having  a great race with senyorlobo  when my game crashed out of GTL to the main desktop screen with GTL showing on my task bar. I could hear the engine and the sound of crashing but could see nothing. Very very frustrating. censored I think I had my best ever set up for the Merc and was probably having my best race of the series.

Same here Misnoimis. Running in 7th I felt confident with the gearing, fuel etc etc, then had to swerve to avoid a recently deceased car on one of the bends. Overcompensated and eventually caught one of those oil barrels and game over. Very very frustrating :'(

I have just watched the replay. I was really having fun and the possibility of a podium as well. It looked as if I had gone wide but it was not then case. Suddenly I was looking at my desktop screen. I guess it was lucky that no one else was taken out. I eventually tried clicking on GTL in the taskbar. I guess I was back in the game But hit escape to be on the safe side and left. No idea what caused it? Is there any way I can find out? It had to happen in my best race to date. I will just have to try harder next time.

BTW, grats to podiums. Commiserations to all who had bad luck.

Bad luck, fortunately I had my black screen with car sounds like you on a faster Qualifying lap.

In the race I had a few laps in close company with oldgezzer (Huh) before he started to pull away I then outbraked myself in a desperate attempt to catchup. Car somersault and (unknown to me) was facing the wrong way by the time I got myself back up to speed I was 30 odd seconds behind.  Roll Eyes
After that it was a brisk drive for fun trying to lap faster and still finish. I of course benefited from everybodies misfortune for my highest finish for yonks.

Nice one Tony, an odd track to learn with all those changes of road surfaces and grip. Grin

I thought that this track would claim some drivers. Such an easy track, foot to the floor and no right turns, what could possibly go wrong?  Wink

Like others have stated, I thought my setup for the Merc was dam near perfection and was having a great race until I took the final turn on lap 2 only to see unfortunate Flash having a major crash near the pit lane entry. To late to brake or avoid, I had to try and judge his final location. We collided and that sent me into a pole which killed my car. Still was a treat to sit in the pits and watch the epic battle between Jose and Hayman, great driving guys.

BTW next season I want to run two six race series, one for Enduros and another for Sprints. I will be setting up a poll soon to allow you guys to vote for your top six tracks in each series that we are running this year. The poll will close after this seasons final LM55 event. I will post a link to the polls once there up and running.

Grats to Erling on a commanding drive and some great lap times and to all those who finished.

Something different for me, never really done oval racing before and I had been practising right hand corners all last month!!.
I had downloaded the track before the weekend, but other than fire it up to make sure it worked and run one sighting lap in the Aston, I had done no practice...I figured there were not any corner sequences to learn  Roll Eyes.

When I joined the server last night I simply pumped the tyres up to max pressure, stiffened the springs and dropped the dampers a notch. Set the final drive to the lowest number , 30 laps of fuel and rolled out for some practice laps.

1st lap out was a little tentative on cold tyres and watching for faster cars, but second lap just stood on the gas and let the car go. At T1 on lap 2 I lifted about 5% and quickly realised that I need not have bothered, so lap 3 I screwed the accelerator to the floor for the whole lap.  "Something wrong here" I thought. There are cars 5 seconds a lap faster than me and I am not lifting anywhere. I tried dropping the final drive a notch to push the top end revs closer to maximum but the car was slower.
I quit and checked the game settings ( don't know why??) rejoined and tried again. Still 5 secs slower!! It was not until Jose joined in the only other Aston and we found ourselves circulating together, that I realised the Aston was probably NOT the best car for this race lol!

I needed to get a race long tow from one of those D type fellas if I was going to score points here.
The start went well but I was having to lift in the corners to avoid rear ending a gaggle of Mercs and D types ahead. But at least I was getting the slipstream benefit  Cheesy
After a few laps Eifel came blasting past in his D type after some early excursion and I hooked up behind him hoping to get towed all the way to the front. But basically I got scared by some of the moves ahead and dropped back just a fraction too far, losing the draught.
I think that after lap 2 the only time I lifted my right foot was to avoid Hayman?? and Flash?? who had tangled on the exit of T2. By the end of the race I almost had cramp in my right foot!! I had to back off in the last few laps to save fuel, but by then the race was over.

Maybe I should have downloaded all of the tracks for this series and done some planning re cars and circuits.

What a great but dangerous track - like in reality back in 1952 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grenzlandring )

During my private practice on sunday (online) I registered a 2:11.2 and thought "ok - maybe I'll be able to reach 2:10".
I was totally surprised when in free practice in my one and only complete lap I reached a 2:07 and in qualy a 2:06.
So I started from first row , lost a lot of places as the well known bad starter  Roll Eyes but was able to regain some places in
lap 2 and 3. With the help of the slipstream I registered the fastest lap of the race with 2:05.676 - totally unexpected
and unusual for me  Cheesy.
During lap 4 I tried to pass two other drivers, touched the green and lost the car, which crashed heavily.
So another quick end for me  Sad - but could watch some nice fights from outside  Smiley.

CU next week. Thanks Tony for organizing. Great track - car combo.

Trying to post results tonight  Wink

Thanks Jose.

BTW the next track in this series is the perfect antidote for all those right hand turns  Wink
