Guess I had a disco just as I went to the race.  Seconds counted down but no 1-2-3-Go.  Hope I didn't mess anyone up at the start.  Oh well always next week at Assen.......

Bob, if your car didn't appear on the start grid you don't lose the drive, so tonight doesn't count in your car roster.

Once again lack of any off line practice caught me out  Undecided. The setup was cobbled together during quali and I did not really check how much fuel it was drinking. So running out of fuel 2 laps from the end when I have 4th place in my pocket did not feel good...Rats!!!!! I had put an extra couple of litres in just for luck, but still ran dry  Undecided

Grats to the Silver Arrows up front, those Mercs just had too much power and speed for my humble little Healey and it looked like Jose had his car singing. Still, I had a great dice with Erling for a few laps, some ( very) defensive driving kept him at bay for a while, but it was inevitable that he would get past at some point...hope I made it worth the effort  Wink

Thanks Tony for a great track choice.

Tony:  My car made the grid according to the replay, it just sat there and didn't move.  I drove a half  of the lap and then I noticed no timer running so your call.  Still got 1 ride in the 100 left so not a problem for me.

Greg:  After being married for 50 years I can tell you toilets are very important to the females.  Can't just go out in the back of the house  and whip it out you know.

What a contrast to last week's race.  Hated this track just as much as I loved Spa'67.  Deceptively simple, but the lack of brake markers and other features made it very difficult to judge your braking points.  Cars were all bitches, seemingly hellbent on swapping ends under braking, or at the very least veer off course.  If they didn't get you that way, they were ever so ready to mug you going out of the corners, should you apply the throttle a fraction too early or hard..  Shocked

Ironic then, but as often in the past, I end up having some great racing on a track I don't like  Smiley
Massive improvement of my pb in qual, but still one of the slowest Mercs, down in 5th - tough crowd this..  Smiley
Made a bad start losing places, when both Clive and Phil squeezed past.  That was the start of a great 3-way duel lasting half the race.  Clive had made it past Phil, and later I did so too.  Chased Clive over many laps without finding a way past.  His confidence in my braking ability seemed boundless, when more than once, he moved from the side and in front of my car, just as he was slammin' on the anchors. Thankfully I didn't let him down, but it was soooo close  Shocked

An opportunity arose when he went on to the grass at the Back Straight.  I passed him, but his comeback move caught me by surprise; he shot up the inside under braking for Beacon Bend, grass on the tyres 'n' all, retaking the position.  Brilliant move Sir - rude, but brilliant..  Wink  Over the following laps he would prove every bit the wily buggar you'd expect.  I could poke my nose ahead of him between Rifle Bend and Cococabana Corner, but lap after lap, he would place his car on the extreme right, so I had to stay on the outside line and thus couldn't get past through the corner.  I lined my car up to 'dive under', in case he overshot, but it didn't happen.

Finally got past early enough to hog the inside line. Had Clive as a close shadow over a lap or two, until he ran wide and was replaced by Ziu. He was reeling me in, as I was reeling in Hayman.  Got past the latter in the same place as with Clive.  Caught a glimpse of Ziu spinning out of control, apparently losing it under braking.  Only when watching the replay did I realise there was contact between our cars, which probably contributed to it.  Sorry Ziu; was completely focused on Hayman and the corner, so had not realised at all that you were making a move on me.

Slowly extended the gap to Hayman over the following laps.  When he went off, it jumped from 2.5 to 9 secs, and the race went lonely.  Geoff was almost 30 secs ahead and still moving away, so no chance of advancing further.  Could thus coast to the finish in 3rd. Very happy about that, considering the company.

Grats to Geoff and Jose, and commiserations to those who didn't make it to the finish.  Sad to see Bill leave before the race had even started  Sad

Bad luck about fuel Clive.  The Merc was about 10% down, but as far as I could tell from by brief testing of them, the others were worse.  Better take a large extra gulp, if you haven't had the chance to check it beforehand.  Looked like you had car troubles again when joining.  Didn't you get it solved the last time ?

Cheers,
Erling

It's obvious that you must of lost your internet connection or some such cos you might be on the grid but you didn't move an inch. You scored no points so I'm happy to let that one go. So you still have two drives in the Healey.

Shame Gregman, it was a good battle, you were a little faster & probably would have beaten me in the end, bad luck. After Gregman went out my race was rather lonely, I was well ahead of Erling & could not match the pace of Jose. Only enlivened by a trip onto the grass at the final turn when I braked a bit too late.

Congrats to Jose & Erling, hope to see you all at Assen.  thumbup1

hi all

good race. I´m happy with place 4 with jag, extremly nervous car. with merc I was faster on this track, but I keep my last merc for other races.
most of the laps I was going alone, no chance to get to the front guys, and guys behind around 7 secs away.
but then coyote and ziu were coming closer, I expected that.
oh my good, I had very good luck at timestamp 1696. I gave room for coyote and ziu, they passed, but then ZIu tried overtaking before T3 , which was way to optimistic. It was impossible to overtake coyote like this. ZIU miss braked, touched gras and slided in front of my car. very good luck for me, that there was no collision, this would have ruined my race.
ZUI, little more patience please. think about impossible overtaking situations. better for others (race ruin) and better for you. after that you did ESC, no points for you.................because of impossible overtaking style.

greets hayman

OK guy's lets take a couple of deep breaths and turn the page!!!!  It's not that big a deal, it's just a game..........  Zui, as a  team member you are forbidden to quit, you have a contract to honor,  Ati will agree with me I am sure. (sarcasm).  Let's all just show up next week at Assen and do our best.  Much better track as far as markers for braking and such. GTL needs every driver it can find here and over at GC.   Do as I say, not as I do because I have been both the wrecker and the wreckee as most of us have been if you have played this game very much.   Pep talk over.....

Totally agree Bob.

Guys, just a game. Each of us has his driving style. Some are more aggressive than others but all are gentleman drivers.
I've seen the replay and for me it's just a race incident. Not much to say. And we don't need create more controversy.

Keep calm guys.

Cheers!
