Just wondered......
How does Tony select a group of cars, from all of the hundreds available within GTL, that are at least close in performance. Surely you don't actually test the cars to discover their relevant pace? Or is there a secret code that indicates which cars are similar.
Maybe it is just a wealth of experience?
I wish there was a secret code

Mmmmm, think I've just fallen in love with another American track - To think that the Yanks with all their boring ovals, actually have (or had) such great racetracks! Tony, are you sure the S version of the 2002 shouldn't be included ? I did some early testing of all cars bar the Mazda yesterday, and the (non-S) Beemer was the slowest for me, with over 2 secs compared to the fastest. Cheers, Erling

Yes Erling, as I hinted late last season, the BMW would be present in 2015 but it would not be the fastest car. So no "S" version. I'll check my times when I get home tonight but I'm pretty sure I had the Beemer running comparitive times with the other car types.

Quick test: 240Z = 1:26.1 BMW 2002Tii = 1:25.7 RX3 = 1.25.7
Drove the 240Z first, so would probably go quicker if I re did it. All with race fuel, and simple basic setups. The 240Z is much more stable so could probably have given him more front grip, The other two are slidey unstable beasties, so I had to neutralise them somewhat.

Just downloaded the cars.
Are both Gr.2 & Gr.4 variants of the RX3 available ?
Cheers, Erling
Just the Gr.4 cars Erling. Race announcement revised to reflect this.

In my non-alien track test all cars were within 2 secs of each other.

Hello all: If all goes well in my world I hope to join you Monday and in the future. I am a old guy from Iowa/USA and retired so the race time hits me in mid afternoon which is good. I have raced online for several years and have raced with some of you in the GC races. Also race some at Nogrip WNR GTL races. Your series will be a big challenge for me as at GC we race basically the same cars week after week. On a good day I finish in the middle of the field and have a bunch of last place trophies on the mantle also......I am mostly a "race the track kind of guy" so if you are faster than me I will move over and let anyone by. All in fun for me!!! My track name is "oldgeezer" so see you at the races..........

Welcome Bob Hope you'll have a good time and look forward to seeing you on track. Race handle is Coyote, as my avatar might suggest. I'm a 50-year old Danish computer programmer, who's enjoyed GTL online racing on and off since it was originally launched. Cheers, Erling

Welcome here Bob! If you are in need of a setup or some tips just give a shout. See you on track! Senyorlobo hinted that he would be there too monday, maybe Pelle will attend too. Good to see people still enjoying GTL. ( if we are not carefull we are getting bigger grids then P&G and AC.. )

Wow Bob! Good to see you here too! Welcome mate! Do not be confused, Bob is a fast and consistent driver. Not make mistakes. The problem is that there are too many alien at GC and there are no people in the midfield. It's correct Postal, this monday I will run too so we can get a big grid this time. Cheers!

Welcome Bob, always good to have more cars on the grid...more drivers=more fun This is only my second season in GTL, so I'm a bit of a noobie. A 63 yr old noobie, if that makes any sense??!! I guess most of these cars were the ones that I watched as a young guy ( was I ever young??) and that is why I enjoy racing them. But, I do have around 8 years of racing with UKGPL online, and that experience is invaluable when dicing with these guys. Sometimes these GTL cars kind of click and I can make them work, other times I struggle with the different physics and setups, but all good fun. Looking forward to seeing your tailpipes on track.
