That was a great race on a neat track. I had seen some indycar races there on the telly but never raced it in my (sim-)life. It is good fun and thanks for the tip on the cut warning at T1.
Great to see such a turn out. Looks like GTL is still very much alive  Grin

Did my installation laps with the Datsun as i still had a setup from the first race, but is was on the wrong config. Luckely it involved just a nice, fast chicane. Made some setup adjustments which didn't make the car faster, but easier to control. As there was no time to test the other cars i stuck with the 240Z for the race.
The start was a little bit messy, but i took it easy and got away unscaved. Senyorlobo past me onto the backstraight and then i had a nice chase with Gregman. Kept putting in sollid laps and even got to P3 after the misfortune of DiMartini. But with 7 laps to go the tires had a big drop off even if they still showed green in XD... This was the moment for Maipor to gain and pass me for 3rd. Made an effort to keep him honest to the line, but a small spin saw me fending off Coyote for the last laps.

Well this is what a good race should be: nice car on a nice track with some good competition all race long. Thanks guys. Enjoyed that. thumbup2

P.s. i can't see any online setup files. I would like to share some of the setups online. Do i need to get me some "host" file or something?

Thxs Tony.
and a very big thank for your lot´s of work, you do for us.  YA DA MAN!
greets hayman

first: I saw: in results list: hayman porsche 914...................no, I used 911.................
a question to car use: 2 times a car to use only. does that mean, if I use same car in both races of a double race event, I cant use it anymore then? thxs.
Sorry, correct Pork now stated in results and car use roster.

Yes, if you use the same car in both races of a double race event it counts as two cars used.

A really enjoyable race despite being the second to last finisher, and a great turnout - couldn't see the tarmac for cars, especially from the back!

I must admit I played very safe with my setup. I've always found the 911 twitchy so practiced on and off throughout the week tweeking the setup to suit my driving style. In the end I found that on this occasion a full tank of fuel (yes 67 gals!) gave me the stability I needed, so thats what I started with on the grid. It added about 2 secs a lap of course, but I wanted to go the distance on this one. I was secretly hoping that more of you guys would crash out and I could sail past you with my excess fuel and a smug grin on my face, but you were all too good for that to happen Smiley

Well done to the podium and all the finishers.

Great racing throughout the field guys   thumbup1 thumbup1

I might have been more " on the pace" if I had downloaded the track file before qualifying had started!! and did not have to try and learn the track with a random setup in less than 10 minutes!!

An encouraging tap at T1 lap 1 did nothing to improve the handling and the rest of the race was spent trying to predict what would happen when I pressed the brake pedal. Sometimes the car would slow down in a perfect straight line and I would make the apex comfortably, but at other times someone disconnected the steering wheel from the front wheels and any chance of taking the approaching corner were forgotten!!

The only upside is that almost all of the grass around Mid Ohio is now beautifully mown  Undecided

At times I enjoyed some great racing in the midfield but inevitably the braking gremlin would poke his stick into the action and send me into the scenery.

Apologies to the leaders who came upon me from behind much sooner than I expected and I hope that I did not hold them up.

Fantastic to see an almost full grid and it made the start   "interesting" but very exciting.

Not sure that the IMSA cars are my favourite, but I am enjoying the learning curve...Thanks Tony. Grin

An interesting track, with a couple of agonizingly slow corners, requiring all the restraint one can muster, if not to run wide.

Race itself was on the surface a disappointment, with a few too many things going wrong.  But, in reality, I had some great battles along the way, so not really bad after all  Smiley

Start was somewhat messy, With Bill G. not moving, and Flash spinning into the car in front of me. Net result was 1 place lost.  Next, as Flash was making his way back through the field, causing 'a disturbance in the force', I lost 3 more places, as 2 other cars saw an opportunity to get past me too.  Then things went from rather bad to complete tits up. Got alongside Matt through some corners, our cars touched and he spun. Sorry Matt; my fault  oops  Waited for him to rejoin, being passed by the remainder of the field. Was 17th and last when I got going again.

Had my work cut out, trying to make up lost places.  Passed Matt in a more courteous way.  Next chased after a group consisting of Clive, Kurt and Misnoimis. Think the latter had a moment, causing them all to slow, so I could overtake the lot within a couple of corners - probably the highlight of the race  Smiley  Next caught Steve and passed him with a bit of slipstreaming down the straight.  Was chasing Tony for a few laps, before he overcooked it in the chicane, spinning in front of me. Couldn't decide if I should aim in front or behind his car, and ended up doing neither, coming almost to a complete stop.   That allowed Clive to sneak up on me again, and despite his alleged problems, I had to work hard to maintain and extend a gap again  Wink

Made up more places, through others misfortunes, with incidents or disconnects.  Was running in 6th, seeing some tantalizing smoke trails of the car up ahead, when smoke turned to dust, as Flash spun off.  Thus grabbed 5th. Knew he would be driving like a madman to catch me again, so really had to concentrate in the remaining 7 laps.  He got closer and closer, lap by lap. A big thanks to Bob, whom I caught at this late point in the race, for letting me past with very little time lost - I truly needed that  yes  Held to the finish and can't really complain about a race, where I'm going from 17th to 5th, although I wish I hadn't bumped Matt early on.

Grats to the podium, commiserations to those who fell of, and thanks to Tony for putting it all together  Smiley

Cheers,
Erling

Hi Jose,

can't find your setup - tell me please what is the last line in your "host" file ("C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc")?

mine is: 81.3.59.61 www.gtl-server.net

Thxs a lot

Hi mate,

I don't have any entry in my "host" file and I can connect to online folders without problems.

Thanks José,

works perfect without the line  Smiley found your setup  Wink

"81.3.59.61 www.gtl-server.net" refers to an old "Online-Setup-Folder" - I assume
from the Altbierbude or maybe from SIMBIN - see here:

If you don't delete it you just get other older setups.

I was wondering for a long time why I could not see the setups uploaded by you guys  Roll Eyes
