Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 28

Track: 1970 Daytona Road course Download this

Cars allowed: BMW 2002tii (not the "S" variant) Download this, Datsun 240Z (not the "ZG" variant) Download this, Mazda RX-3 (Gr.4) Download this, Porsche 911 GTU Download this, Porsche 914-6 GTU (not the 914-4) Download this

Drivers are reminded that they are limited to only two drives in each car. Check your status HERE

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (24 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: This race is flag started. However the flagman is out of sync with the in-game countdown and you could get a stop/go for a jumped start if you go with the flag. I would strongly suggest that the in-game countdown is switched on for this race.
Blue light warning! Please read this

Despite the top speed being a little down on the others, this could be the ideal track to tackle in the Mazda laugh

Bill - Best wishes to you and your family on the 24th. Sounds like a very exciting weekend.

I'm new to the forum and I just want to clear up whether I'm free to dive into the UKGTL and UKPNG races or whether there's a registration page I'm overlooking. I see that all the races I'm interested in are listed as open series but then there's text in the rules about full time and reserve drivers so I thought it best to ask the dumb question before stepping on any toes.

That said, hi I'm Dana! I'm a 27 year old american woman with simracing interests that center primarily on 1965-80 historical series so the 1974 IMSA events are right up my alley and I'm eager to (hopefully) see you folks on the track at Daytona.

Hi Dana and welcome to Simracing.org.uk.

We only need reserve drivers when series are over subscribed and that's not currently relevant to either GTL or P&G (wish that it were). Your advised to try and join our online practise sessions to check that you have no problems before race night. The server runs 24/7 except when another series is running a race, e.g. Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday nights.

Shout out if you have any questions/problems etc.

Cheers

Tony

BTW all our Season 15 GTL series are listed here for your perusal. https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=443&theme=5

Hi Dana

Same goes for the P&G events, just make sure you can join the practice server
I run a backup server as well in case we have any issues with our main on eon the night.

Tony is getting really good grids these days in GTL  thumbup1
P&G is less well attended so far this year, but we keep plugging away, as long as there are
takers we keep running events.
We have a series for V8s in both GTL and P&G, and other series for 50's cars and other
particular race flavours.

It's probably not needed at the moment, but we traditionally close down the other game servers
when we are running a race, so the practice server may not always be there.

Hi Dana !
Glad you are joining us.  Good to see another American in the field.  I live in the middle of a corn field in Iowa. My track name is oldgeezer, because I am retired and as they say 73 years young and stuck in the sixties, so GTL is the sim for me.. You will find that this site is a great community of gentlemen drivers, and all will be helpful in getting you set up for racing.  Don't just race the IMSA series join us in all the series.  I was mostly familiar with GTC and muscle car racing when I started on this site, and have really enjoyed the different format that rotates weekly.  Great challenge......

Have fun and see you at the track!

Hey Hayman:

I tried the Mazda also and know what you mean.  Was tinkering in the garage area and found on this car you can change the ratios of the individual gears in the tranny so you can change 5th gear a click and keep it out of redline.  Doesn't seem to make it any faster though in my tests.  Will drive the BMW, can't stand that constant scream, but I know sooner or later I'm going to have to use the little guy.

See you all at the track

WARNING Please read the following

It has been brought to my attention that on these wide oval circuits a lapped car might not slow to allow a leading driver by, due to comparative speeds and the track being so wide. However GTL will consider ANY constant blue light ignoring as a misdemeanour and will punish you with a DQ.

Therefore drivers are requested to let a lapper by when ever a blue light is given. You may of course then follow the lapper but only pass them if your confident that you can out-distance them before the blue light police hit you with a ban.

I drove Mazda on Laguna secca. Was perfect car for that track, for ears too. BMW is my favourite here too.
