Tony, I've discovered an error in the car status list:  I'm registered as having used a 914, but it was in fact a 911 in the last race.  The other ones are correct (2 x Mazda, 1 x 240Z).

Big welcome to Dana - hope you'll like it here in the madhouse..  Smiley

Cheers,
Erling

No possibility to practice as I'm not at home over the weekend
(mother's 80th birthday) - but I'll be there.

Sorry Erling. I'll fix that now.

Tony - Were you aware of the fuel limitations of the BMW and Mazda for 24 laps of this circuit? I've just noticed that (according to my garage anyway) you can only fill up for a max of 22 laps for these two cars.

I can confirm that, with a full tank of fuel, the BMW is capable of 32 laps and the Mazda will last for 34 laps.

GTL is notoriously inaccurate with it's fuel predictions for modded tracks. That's why most use XD to get accurate lap/fuel stats.

I know you don't like XD so if you need the stats for a particular car you could post the question in the race thread or send me a pm and I'll get an answer back to you.

Tony - Although I've been racing GTL on and off since its release, it's only been quite recently that I've moved onto the modded tracks and never noticed the surplus fuel at the end of each race laugh. So thanks for the above info with which I've managed to calculate how much fuel I'll need to get the rotary screamer round 24 laps Cheesy

Steve, there's not always surplus fuel - on some tracks a car will do fewer laps than indicated by the setup screen. Thus it's vital to verify before the race - or bring an ample reserve.

Thanks for the warning, Erling thumbup1.

Knowing now that a full tank in the RX3 gives approx 34 laps instead of 22 at Daytona, I've scaled down the gals by the same %, (this is using the std gtl garage) adding my usual 10% buffer along the way, then sent the Mazda round on AI. The fuel light lit up on the penultimate lap so it will be a close run thing this evening. Yes, its tempting to pump in plenty of reserve, but your mind is always on the weight issue. I had problems loading XD the last time I tried so will have to stick with the game's original garage screen info, but using Tony's info on this occasion does mean I can start with about 5 gals less than I would have put in, which must be worth a few 10ths per lap laugh

First of all ... my apologies to anyone who was compromised when I slewed violently to the right at the start  oops It was very strange and I was in good company as Clive did just the same ! I ended up at the back of the field and the first two or three laps were a nightmare ... a couple of 'offs' and a mega high-speed slide along the wall on the oval. Eventually things settled down and I closed in on Misnoimis. Drafting was fun and I used it to my advantage only to have another 'off' and have to pass Misnoimis all over again. Fortunately that was the last of my unforced errors and I was able to pick up places as other drivers had 'moments' of their own. Some great cat-and-mouse chases followed, particularly with Clive and Postal. Eventually I was in P4 with my regular nemesis Erling about 10 sec ahead. I was just a bit quicker than him but not enough laps remained unless he made a mistake ... and a couple of laps from the end he did ... suddenly the gap was just under 4 sec ... ok, GAME ON  Grin. I drove as hard as I could but Erling had regained his composure and he finished just under 2 sec ahead ... brilliant stuff, great drive Sir.
Congrats to Jose, Ati and Erling for the podium and thanks to Tony for putting it all together  Cool

After very little practice again (I must practice for the next race) and a car that was not handling at all as I expected (I wonder if I loaded the wrong set up? I also tried the Datsun) I made a big error with a half dozen laps to go, hit the wall and went endlessly tumbling into space off the edge of disc world.  eek

I hope others enjoyed their race and the usual grats to podiums and all.  clap

I need to watch the replay cos one minute you were just ahead of me but lower down the track then you disappeared! I thought we had collided but I felt no impact but it must of been close.
